Just mentioned because the blue light is seen in laras left arm clearly on ps4 pro.
What? Check again. The bush shadow is especially apparent.Terrible shadows on pc (Medium settings?)
The biggest problem for the pro is the lack of memory, I really wish Sony had upped it by another 4gb. It's great having high res visuals but the asset quality doesn't match it. I want to see high res PC textures running.
The Sun/Bloom looks quite a bit stronger in the Pro vs the PC, I don't think it's just gamma. It makes it more difficult to compare as it's somewhat blowing out the texture detail on the Pro.Better color correction on the hair even in 4k mode? It looks better to me
Another 4gb of memory would be too expensive to implement. There are games like like Killing Floor 2 that are using some of the new 1GB of DDR3 RAM to put in ultra quality textures!
hair looks better on the Pro here. Maybe because its softer. less artixacts. Pc is a lot sharper.
But wasn't it confirmed to be 512mb allocated to games with the other 512mb going to the os?
The PS4 Pro actually has an exclusive graphical setting which is cutscene quality hair. It was announced in the PS4 Pro video the Tomb Raider channel had uploaded and taken down a few days ago.
Not to mention rather difficult with a 256bit bus unless you want segmented memory.Another 4gb of memory would be too expensive to implement.
No, no game can access the 1GB of DDR3 ram. The 1GB of DDR3 is used to free up 512mb from the existing 8GB of GDDR5 which in the PS4, only 5GB is available for game developers. The extra DDR3 allows the OS to give 512MB of that back to game devs so they now can access 5.5 in the Pro, the other 512MB it frees up is used by the OS to render the UI in 4k.There are games like like Killing Floor 2 that are using some of the new 1GB of DDR3 RAM to put in ultra quality textures!

Pretty sure that's not exclusive. I remember there being a setting above the standard hair works hair which was used in cutscenes
? I think hair on Very high on PC is cutscene hair.
I think it was described as such in the NVIDIA tweak guide.

The 1GB DDR3 is used to hold apps in memory to enable faster switching from apps like Netflix between gaming sessions. It's managed entirely by the OS and developers don't have access to it from everything I've read.
If I am using a 1080p display do I select that in the screen options and the game will supersample the 4K image? Or does one of the 4K options have to be selected?
Well the games are not different, nor is the pro going to create enhancements via scaling automatically. So whether you'd notice improvements depend entirely on the quality of of your 1080p and 4ktv.I have newbie question.
I completely understand that older games dont get any performance reso bump from pro unless patched. They play exactly the same.
So its more of a tv question, maybe? If i play the same games i used to play, on my new 4k tv...does that give any sort of visual edge over my old 1080p set?

Yup, something is definitely different. The gun is also more detailed on ps4 pro in certain shots? The Sun/Bloom looks quite a bit stronger in the Pro vs the PC, I don't think it's just gamma. It makes it more difficult to compare as it's somewhat blowing out the texture detail on the Pro.
The frequency of texture upgrades is not the contention here:I know, that's why I said some.
That's all I'm correcting. They're not using the DDR3 ram, they can't. No developer can access it. The DDR3 ram just frees up 512mb of the GDDR5 ram from the OS to devs. Your post gives the impression game devs can choose to use a portion of the 1GB of DDR3 - that's just not the case. There are games like like Killing Floor 2 that are using some of the new 1GB of DDR3 RAM to put in ultra quality textures!

Yeah that's a little odd - perhaps a different gun upgrade on the Pro by that point, say a clip upgrade (haven't played the game so can't say)? Otherwise it's noticeably darker clip with some weathering on it.Yup, something is definitely different. The gun is also more detailed on ps4 pro in certain shots?
No prob!Oh wow, I'm sorry! I completely glided right over your correction. That makes way more sense!

The shadow in the PC version on the pant leg is far more blocky as well, but the foilage shadows are a little sharper on the PC it seems.
Really though it's ridiculously close when we're talking about a $1500 GPU (albeit the Titan is running it at 60fps of course).
The amount of people spreading bullshit about this console on Facebook posts is insane.
I think this console launch is rivalling the Wii U's in terms of sheer confusion. I still have no idea really what this console can do. I think I'm just getting old, but consoles are supposed to be the 'easy' option and PCs the more complicated aren't they?
Yeah, wondering why in the DF review there wasn't just some static 4K png screenshots, would help a great deal to compare directly. And we're comparing games based on screenbrags of a youtube video.
I am just utterly dumbstruck at how someone can claim to have no idea what the console can do if they've even skimmed GAF in the last week. you have to go out of your way to avoid the info

Indeed. The "consoles are just like PC's now!" is also the most bizarre argument. You get what, 3 options now in a handful of games to tailor them how you want them (framerate over visuals). Compared to PC games, let alone the process to assemble the hardware before you even start a game? It's several orders of magnitude in complexity, the comparison is ridiculous.I am just utterly dumbstruck at how someone can claim to have no idea what the console can do if they've even skimmed GAF in the last week. you have to go out of your way to avoid the info

That's the digital foundry 4k video. And we're comparing games based on screenbrags of a youtube video.
I mean in terms of how the console is marketed. I know (roughly) but would any potential buyer on the street, have a clue?
And I'll admit there are certain aspects of the thing I don't understand. I thought they were going to set a standard i.e. guaranteed 2160p/30fps and already they seem to have abandoned that idea. It just seems muddled to me.
If it were up to me, you'd be made full member on Thursday to commemorate the launchYeah, wondering why in the DF review there wasn't just some static 4K png screenshots, would help a great deal to compare directly.

So what kind of frames do you get with Tomb Raider's higher framerate option for 1080p? Didn't see any data in the DF vid.
I want a thread that's all about how games are running in 1080p.
John said a more detailed TR analysis is coming, the problem is they only have 1 Pro to share among the entire staff. They're going to buy one when it comes on sale tomorrow and John will pixel count till his eyes bleed. So what kind of frames do you get with Tomb Raider's higher framerate option for 1080p? Nah the resolution is noticeable sharper too.
Yeah we do need a thread specifically about this.I want a thread that's all about how games are running in 1080p.
...can you be a little more specific with what you're seeing? Is it the somewhat higher fraying with the Pro on the motion blur? As I understand it that can be an artifact of the checkerboard rendering with objects in motion at times, especially with alpha effects. Other than that not sure what's drawing your eye.Yeah we do need a thread specifically about this.
Anyways, does anybody know what's going on here?
