Rumor: Xenoblade Chronicles X coming to Switch within first 6 months

Concidering MAJOR X SPOILERS
How the game is set up as probably the biggest prequel for anything, I would not be suprised at all for a decently early X-2 release, mean the first game had twists in how big the scale all the time, why wouldn't they try to ramp that up to another level? Especially since they have been working were closely with nintendo for the past 3(?) years, and the development in japan was done a quite long time ago

IMAGINE:

The trailer for XCX on Switch shows new party members with new gear and new weapons, using new arts against new indigens in new story missions with new cinematics, hopping in new skells (now able to jump with flight module, and toggle off the flight song), equipped with new armaments, and exploring two new continents full of new wildlife, structures, treasure, etc, and new NPCs with new quests for rewards.

Allows players to transfer over save data from WiiU. Game promises to deliver the "true ending." 1080p, 60fps, hi-res textures, AF, AA, and enhanced lighting, shadows, water, particle effects, and draw distance. Also has a reworked user interface (single screen, improved readability) and streamlined party management, item finding, etc.

THE DREAM.

That's what the most likely to appen anyway.
Takahashi wants to go back to a more classic approach of a RPG but needed to work on HD and get a bigger, trained team to be able to finish a really ambitious title they couldn't have done one Wii U;
So creating an open world with a story that acts as an introduction, with a vast background is a good choice.

Except if won't happen since Monolithsoft wouldn't work on a port/extension of the game anytime soon. Only a sequel is possible.
Sorry

Been out in Japan since April 2015. If the Switch version comes out in the latter half of 2017, it will have been more than two years.

Hadn't considered new continents, I suppose they could be placed behind New LA?

Ok but do you see another company aside from Monolithsoft that can add real contents to the game, tell me who you have in mind. Because It would feel odd to have new characters/quests/items, if the original team is not working on it.
I definitely don't want that.

I'm gonna guess all these ports will come at a low price, probably around $30.

I don't believe Nintendo will charge full price.

My money is in captain toad pricing for these wii u ports, so $40. If Nintendo give them full retail prices then I'll be very disheartened.

Mario Kart may demand a premium price if it has 50% new content like Emily says.

Unfortunately, as far as I can remember, Nintendo has never offered enhanced ports for less than $40-50, so I think it is unlikely they would be as low as $30. With the bright side, if you plan to get the deluxe model, it's rumored Splatoon will be packed in.

I think given the amount of rumored new content for MK and Splatoon (the rumor for that one seems to potentially indicate a signficiant amount of new content as well), as well as Smash presumably including all DLC and who knows what else, the enhanced ports will blur the line between port and GOTY edition or Port and sequel, so the pricing may be more like $50. As I mentioned above, Splatoon will be packed in, evidently, with the deluxe model. (I wonder if that one will be priced at $50 in part to make the deluxe more appealing by seeming like even more of a value.) I'd be glad to be wrong and have the games be cheaper.

A part of the team could have worked on that, while the majority of the studio is working on Xenoblade 3.

But I don't think there will be any new content. I think Monolith Soft is handling this in-house, but it will just be a port with enhanced visuals.

Holy freaking cow that lineup is insane. And it's clearly not everything either.

My PS4 and XB1 aren't gonna' be getting much love next year lol

The idea of games like The Silver Case being on there makes me think Switch could be the perfect platform for visual novels.

I always preferred playing VNs on portable devices anyway, and a small tablet would bring them pretty much one step away from reading eBooks on a Kindle... but you also satisfy people who'd rather play them on a TV.

So I'm thinking something like this if there are new continents, it would be a bit tricky to restructure the missions around this though unless they are used more in the post game.

Perhaps make them only accessible via Skell?

These are probably the things I want the most with this port, although it didn't bug me too much in the original game having shadows that change with the time of day would add a lot for me. I mean I get why they did it, to keep the game running at that consistent frame rate. But Zelda is doing it so I hope they can add to that if the game engine allows for it. Also hope they make it so that when it comes to monsters and NPCs so they don't just appear in front of you when running full speed or driving a Skell. And YEEEEEESSSS to that true ending. Oh and new avatar creation options.

They have the art nailed, just add everything that Neiteio mentioned in his post and you'll have something truly stunning.

Sadly most where probably gonna get is 1080p with some better anti aliasing. But man, I would replay this all over again if it even has half of what Neiteio mentioned in his post.

Oh, right and Hiiiiii Neiteio! Its been a while :)

With what we have, here's what could be the first six months of the Switch :

March : Super Mario 3D Switchero / Splatoon / Mario RPG : Invasion of the Raving Rabbids / Skyrim Special Edition / Just Dance 2017

April : Guardians of the Galaxy / Mario Kart 8

May : Super Smash Bros. For Switch / Mario Maker / The Silver Case

June : The Legend of Zelda : Breath of the Wild

July : Xenoblade X

August : Pikmin 4

September : Pokémon Stars

That's a freaking lot of games if you ask my opinion.

Unless we know for sure what they're doing, I think it's possible (not probable, but possible) that Monolithsoft would do it themselves. The heavy-lifting (mechanics, systems) is already done, and it would be primarily scenario design and asset creation. If they wanted to "complete their vision" with the Switch vision, perhaps they'd add more.

I seriously doubt they'd add anything as significant as new continents. Xenoblade 3 is almost certainly going to happen and will probably start on a different part of Mira focusing on
New Tokyo populated by actual humans
eventually finding NLA. They'd save new continents for the sequel.

And that's not even considering the new IP, Retro's game, indie games, or other big third-party pubs. 2017 could be bonkers.

To be honest, if Smash has new characters, I'd imagine it being released after E3. Smash characters cause a lot of buzz, I'd imagine Nintendo would keep the hype train going at E3.

I would almost bet money that a proper new Animal Crossing may be ready for the holidays, too

I guess that's not impossible as long as the vast majority is on the new game.
We know their time is valuable and they always have a hard time to implement most of what they want to.

And I mean, Takahashi saying himself they wouldn't work on extensions is pretty straightforward especially when a few weeks after mentionning how he want to create an awesome story. Not to mention the "If we make another Xenoblade it'll be more classic like the first one".

Monolith did have a project in development for 3DS a while ago, they've also been assisting with Breath of the Wild.

My guess is they've finished with Zelda and are currently working on two different projects: Xenoblade Chronicles XXX (X with more stuff) and this from 2013 (what was the 3DS project):

Inuhanyou

Believes Dragon Quest is a franchise managed by Sony
The more ports the better honestly. Then i can get all the games on Wii U that i could not stand because it was the Wii U

I would put the circle in the middle of those 2 though, forming 1 sword, then we just need 2(?) more.
Xenoblade 1 very lategame spoiler
Tying it to the Zansa and Meyneth monados

I want a Switch version of Pokken Tournament with the arcade DLC added, even more characters beyond them, and a switch mechanic where you use your pokeball to swap fighters in/out.

Not interested because I haven't even finished the Wii U version.

There's nothing that a port would do that would make the game substantially better.

Yep. I think they could show a little teaser of Xenoblade 3 at the January 13th event, with a full reveal in late 2017.

If I remember rightly Monolith kyoto, where those images are from never had a 3ds project. They assist Nintendo with asset development, which yes, includes for 3da games.

I would love to be able to transfer my save data from the Wii U, but I wonder how would it work, considering the Switch isn't backwards compatible and doesn't use disks.

Those were just recruitment pieces for the Kyoto studio.

Patch the WiiU version so you can upload save data to a server that then converts it for Switch and you download it from there on Switch.

Remember that they have 2 offices. Tokyo "mostly" works on Xenoblade while Kyoto helps Nintendo. And they are clearly not working on X with more contents, that's 100% sure.
Takahashi said it himself.
Ok 99% just because we don't know the future.

You know what this means, tho

ELMA IN SMASH, FAM

That's right! Nintendo's very own Lightning. The BEST GIRL. Now in Smash as a stance-change character.

Switch between her guns and her blades. Master her Full Metal Jaguar style!

Nintendo milking turning their backs on BC for all it's worth if true (Smart move so I don't blame them. I'll probably double dip on this when I eventually get a Switch in fact.).

At the very least I hope the port ditches the dumb af low level cap that serves no purpose and gives you the option to abandon quests. Two things that really bugged me in XCX.

God... please never ever compare Elma to Lightning, please...

But yes, Elma in Smash would be extremely nice.

They shouldn't waste Elma on a Smash refresh. If she's to make her Smash debut, it needs to be a proper thing.

Now that I think about it. If this happens they're either going to have to compress 7GB worth of data to fit it in the 16GB standard card or leave it as is/improve it on a 32GB card. Possibility that they'll supply the Japanese voice acting aswell?

I assume the cartridges come in various sizes like with the DS and 3DS, 16gb might just be the standard. So yeah probably the same game with more stuff.
