Rumor: Xenoblade Chronicles X coming to Switch within first 6 months

I think the graphical updates will be minimal, however imagine if they could add real-time shadows and lighting. Well, I don't know about the lighting, but the shadows of the overworld being static always looked a bit odd.

If they also fixed the sound mixing during dialogue that would be awesome.

With what we have, here's what could be the first six months of the Switch :

March : Super Mario 3D Switchero / Splatoon / Mario RPG : Invasion of the Raving Rabbids / Skyrim Special Edition / Just Dance 2017

April : Guardians of the Galaxy / Mario Kart 8

May : Super Smash Bros. For Switch / Mario Maker / The Silver Case

June : The Legend of Zelda : Breath of the Wild

July : Xenoblade X

August : Pikmin 4

September : Pokémon Stars

That's a freaking lot of games if you ask my opinion.

That's a lot of rumors. Pikmin 4 and Xenoblade being poorly sourced rumors admittedly. Wait till January 12th. Nintendo is undoubtedly working on new software. They probably have a rhyme and reason to how they are going to coordinate the software releases.

I'm sure Nintendo will stretch out the ports more a bit. I don't remember if Nintendo ever released two AAA 1st party games in the same month on one console. They will save some for the holidays. They need a new big AAA in the holidays especially too.

Now that I think about it. If this happens they're either going to have to compress 7GB worth of data to fit it in the 16GB standard card or leave it as is/improve it on a 32GB card. Possibility that they'll supply the Japanese voice acting aswell?

I imagine they'll go with a 32GB card. If the game outputs at 1080p and Switch has better specs than Wii U (including more RAM), I'm guessing we might see higher quality textures that use up even more space.

The juiciest news there is that Pikmin is supposedly a reboot. Wonder what that means?

LKD's follow-up tweets made it sound like the game, at the very least, won't be marketed as Pikmin 4 so that it's seen as a clean start. I believe she wasn't sure if internally it was actually a proper "reboot."

My guess is that they think sales potential could be hurt by calling it Pikmin 4, which could make people wonder if they need to play the previous games. Plus, Pikmin 3 already featured 7 Pikmin types and 3 playable characters, an increase from Pikmin 2, which itself was an increase from Pikmin 1. Seems like the games were getting more and more complicated and full. They might want to focus it this time, rather than adding more again.

Again, Emily Rogers, Laura and Eurogamer have all said Pikmin is coming to Switch. Xenoblade has only one source backing it up, but Pikmin has the backing of multiple.

Reboot in name only, apparently.

Dude. You know several of them share the same source right? They admittedly talk to each other. They know when one is posting a story.

That's why no one has officially posted a story on it yet. (Pikmin)

Probably won't be picking it up after spending 150 hours in it this summer. But it'll be cool to see more people get a chance to play it. Shame that the GamePad was so useful though; it's probably going to add a lot of hassle with menus.

I'm hoping they can add an actual real time online mode. They really need to. Its going to give the game so much more replay value.

If nothing else seems like Nintendo is eager to try and court the RPG fans early with this between this, Mario X Rabbids, Pokemon Stars and Skyrim.

And you know working with Square on some stuff like Dragon Quest X/XI

Nah, not buying it. Too many ports, seriously, too many.

Pretty much my stance at the moment. If you have a Wii U and bought at least a few of the main titles (like there was anything else to get on this thing) the switch is looking like it has nothing for us at the moment.

Now if I can simply pop in my Wii U discs that are getting ports/enhanced ports, however they spin this, then I will be up for it.

Nintendo Switch? More like, the Nintendo Bait n' Switch. Nintendo is still trying to get people to buy a Wii U.

Now I see why Nintendo of America didn't market Xenoblade X....It would make sense that internally NoA would have had know that Xenoblade X would have had been a possible game for the Switch. This way, in the United States, at least, it would be marketed as a new game of sorts....

I wouldn't count on Wii U discs having any compatibility in the system unless Nintendo releases a separate disc drive USB attachment for backwards compatibility.

Of course this won't happen, but I wonder how big and expensive a Wii U "Slim" accessory would be today. Basically, a disc drive that also features the Wii U chipset (but assumes you already have a GamePad) that you'd plug into your Switch dock. I imagine going from a 40nm node to something like a 14nm/16nm node could lead to a crazy size, power, and temperature reduction for the Wii U hardware and allow it to run at an "accessory" size, given how small the Wii U already was. Then again, IIRC, the disc drive itself was a big reason the Wii U is the size it is.

Phone reception is more important to me than human rights
Imagine this incredibly small UI in a "portable" screen like the Switch.

It's been stated that the Switch's screen would be roughly the same size as the WiiU's GamePad, so it would proooobably not look amazing.
Hopefully this is a case where playing it undocked would change the UI.

Would be a neat lil feature of the Switch.

Arrg, I got like 13 hours in last year. Now I won't be able to decide if I should keep playing or wait...

Their use of Censorship is fine. The better question is why would a revealing swimsuit costume for a 13 year old make you want to purchase another copy.
There was censorship of things other than Lin's costumes which I didn't think was fine.
Being able to circumvent that is a (small) point in favor of the Wii U version as far as I'm concerned.

Can't say I agree. XCX's ost isn't completely bad. For every one of these, we get shockingly annoying noise like this.

The composer needs to chill out.

But both tracks are nice. I wouldn't listen to the latter one on repeat like I do for most of the other XCX tracks, but it's still a fine theme.

Considering XC where It had some great tracks, I enjoyed more of XCX's by far, and even gamewise XCX didn't make the awful mistake of replacing 'They will know our names', one of the best boss tracks of all time, with the vision music every time you used the monado. Like an ice cube filled with ice cubes to the face.

Love the soundtrack to this game and I would definitely consider picking it up again if they added more stuff to it. I imagine they would, but you never know about this stuff.

There's not even a topic about it?

It's because it's old news. Destructoid first rumored that it was happening in March of this year (Laura Kate Dale worked there), and she later further talked about it in her own post on LPVG. If you search GAF, you should find threads that discussed these rumors when they were first reported. Within this thread, it's nothing new.

EDIT: Here's the Destructoid thread from March, and here's the LPVG thread from October.

As someone who purchased WII-U a year ago to play this game, and today at over 40 hours in and trying to complete all the fucking tasks to get my Skell license, needing to look up a guide for one of them, I couldn't care less if this game comes to Switch...

"Go search this ENTIRE FUCKING CONTINENT for two rare items that only appear in a single OBSCURE AS FUCK location."

Actually I stopped playing and went back to Dragon Age Inquisition... and that's fucking SAD.

Pikmin has one source. They all have that same
Source and that's why no one is confident enough to a post a story on it yet.
Miyamoto said Pikmin was in development for consoles. Didn't he say it was mostly done a few months ago in fact. We don't need those three to confirm it. It will most definitely come to the switch.

Xenoblade X could use an enhanced port.

Preferably with overhauled sidequests, and additional scenario at the end to make up for the anticlimax, and a new soundtrack.

I still don't understand the hate for the soundtrack... It's not perfect but I liked some tracks a lot, like Z5 Mira https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o3ch02hpnUM. But I do agree the game could use some overhaul, because the core of the game I like a lot.

Eh, isn't the point of contention and confusion the concern that when Miyamoto said "Pikmin 4," he might have been referring to the 3DS game that was revealed? I'm looking over the quotes Miyamoto and Nintendo have given on Pikmin 4 and the platform was never mentioned in any sense. Here's the Eurogamer quotes from July 2015, and here's the update Miyamoto gave to GameRant during E3 2016.

FWIW, I believe that the 3DS game is entirely a spinoff and that Switch is getting a mainline Pikmin game based on Miyamoto's words and the rumors.

It's been talked about on GAF for the better part of a year at this point. It was originally reported by Laura Kate Dale when she was at Destructoid. Here's the original article from March.

I know there was a rumor half a year ago, but i thought this was new confirmation. In any case, at least she is still confident her info is not outdated.
