Check my earlier posts. There's reason to be hopeful for mutants in MvC4. It's not guaranteed, but it's possible.

This might be the worst possible post I can make, but I remember some players on Twitter posting that they went to Capcom, but couldn't say why. This was maybe 2-3 months ago.

I have no insider info at all, but I sincerely do remember seeing these tweets.

Spider-Man isn't being developed by Capcom. And Insomniac didn't recently suffer from a hugely underperfoming release that relied heavily on a partnership with Sony.

Just saying, I don't think Capcom will be so eager to hop into bed with Sony again after what happened to SFV, at least where fighting games are concerned. But who knows. Maybe Sony's cosy relationship with Marvel right now has granted them some form of exclusivity for MvC4.

If it's real.

but that was Capcom's fault, so I don't see why they would be iffy about working w/ Sony again?

this is 100% speculation I don't know anything about the roster

I'm kind of worried for characters like Viewtiful Joe, Amaterasu, and Spencer who've essentially been relegated to appearing in nothing but crossovers the last generation or two. That said it's not like Capcom has a ton of new IPs they can draw from (Asura's Wrath, Dragon's Dogma (?), maybe a Monster Hunter character this time around) so it's not like they're in imminent danger of being replaced. We're also practically guaranteed an SFV rep I guess, Necalli or Rashid seem the most obvious but I think Nash would make a lot of sense as well and I'd much prefer him. And everyone's gonna think I'm nuts but I think another Ace Attorney character is possible as well since those games are showing no sign of slowing down at this point (I read a moveset suggestion once for Miles Edgeworth with a logic gimmick to counter Phoenix Wright's evidence mechanics complete with a Logic Chess level 3 that sounded brilliant to me, but Franziska von Karma very nearly made it into TvC as a whip-based character so they'd actually have a few different options). I'd be excited for the Marvel roster as well but I think the MCU makes it pretty easy to guess a lot of the newcomers we'll be seeing (Starlord, Black Panther, Black Widow, Thanos, Daredevil...).

I also think we're going to see a lot of returning characters with retooled movesets and designs. Like, I think Frank West and Dante are coming back but might be based more on DR4 and DMC4 than DR1 and DMC3.

Shut up yams

Also the x-men ban isn't a thing but it's pretty obvious if you read the comics that marvel is pushing inhumans

The latest thing is that an inhuman killed like one of the most important x-men members and no one cares
It actually is a thing, but it may be ending soon (Marvel pls).

Also,
Cyclops was killed by the Terrigen Cloud. Black Bolt reducing Cyclops to nothing was an illusion made up by Emma Frost (at least the Cyclops that Black Bolt killed was).
But either way, Marvel's doing a big X-Men & Inhumans push after IvX, so everything's gonna pan out in the end.

My Marvel Hopefuls
  • Star-Lord
  • Captain Marvel
  • Ms. Marvel
  • Black Panther
  • Ant-Man
  • Groot
  • Gamora
  • Cyclops*
  • Scarlet Witch*
  • Quicksilver*
  • Nightcrawler*
  • Adam Warlock
  • Thanos
  • Wasp
  • Vision
  • Green Goblin
  • Doctor Ocotpus
  • Loki
  • Ultron
  • Venom
* = This character depends on if Marvel is indeed going back on their restrictions.

Marvel Super Heroes 2 with a mostly MCU focused cast is the best case scenario IMO. I mean, it's going to be based off the same event (Infinity War w/ Thanos as the final boss) and a Mahvel with no Sniktbub, TEN MORE YEARS, and DOOM is not worth the trouble.

MvC1 veterans like Jin Saotome and Captain Commando need to come back

Yeah I think if there's one advantage to Capcom not putting out a ton of new IPs since 2011 it's that they'll have a chance to bring back some of the veterans and characters people really wanted for 3 (I can't think of an excuse to leave Mega Man, Captain Commando and Gene out this time).

Watch them announce a Marvel vs Capcom 4 and cross promote it with their mobile Clash of Champions game which makes a shit ton of money to draw in more people and regarner interest which in turns makes them more money for their true money maker and fund a fan favorite, it's a win win. Part Sony money part mobile money part Capcom.

If this strategy makes MvC4 a reality then so be it.

Your making it sound like that Street fighter V's lack of content was sony's fault? They did their part and helped promote the shit out of it, and helped fund the game. It was on capcom to deliver.

but that was Capcom's fault, so I don't see why they would be iffy about working w/ Sony again?

Depends on if Capcom interprets things like that or not. I don't disagree with you, but this is the same deluded Capcom that deemed SFV's paltry amount of launch content fit for release. Who knows what the higher-ups make of its underperformance. Maybe those guys want to get their next fighting game on as many platforms as possible.

Why welp?

It not being at PSX means more chance of being a Multiplatform game which is a good thing for both the game and everyone else.
I meant more on if it's happening or not. Wasn't it said that it could be at the Capcom Cup?

But if this is on PS4 & Switch, I may double-dip (assuming the rumor is true, of course).

Mpl90

Two copies sold? That's not a bomb guys, stop trolling!!!

Mind-blowing plot twist: it actually shows up at the Switch presentation!

Seriously, if it's real, it will be interesting to see if Sony funds a Capcom fighter again, even after what happened with SFV (to be perfectly honest, the problems with that game's launch weren't that much due to releasing only on PS4 and PC), or if it will be multiplatform.

Yea I hear your there. But with it being possibly Iron Galaxy and Marvel which has a deal with Sony currently it wouldn't be out of the realms if this wasn't a capcom game at all and just a marvel super heroes sequel made by iron galaxy.

I would be down with that as we have street fighter V and street fighter IV. I would rather capcom make another DARKSTALKERS INSTEAD.

Regarding Capcom staff recently disconfirming other fighting games or MvC4 specifically, Hiroyuki Kobayashi said there were no plans for a new Sengoku Basara game just a month before Sanada Yukimura-den was announced.

Not that disconfirmations translate to bullshit all of the time, but just something to keep in mind.

Carry on.
