Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite announced (PC/XB1/PS4, 2017) [Update: Info In OP]

PREDICTION:

So I bet (calling it now) the Infinity gems will replace x factor. You choose the gem when you pick your character and each gem lets you get different buffs.

You basically get to choose the bonus you get from. Xfactor.

I'd stake my Wendy's double stack on it.

I'd agree with that.

there's not gonna be crossplay at all is there? since it is coming to all three... PC playerbase gonna be small as fuck. feels bad.

probably just gonna have to get it on ps4.

Do we know the price of UMvC3 yet? Not on UK PSN right now (or I can't find it).

here you go:

“Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3” for current-gen systems includes a new gallery mode, is packed with all previous DLC, and features an improved 1080p resolution at 60 frames per second. The re-release of “Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3” is being offered as an individual download title on all systems for $24.99.

I mean, yeah, but still. You'd only need to read the presser to get a better idea of what to expect, even before they reveal anything else!

twitter folk think this is a free to play mobile game too. "tldr;" is the alpha and the omega of the internet

I dunno, I thought fighting for the gems were a big part of the original. I'd rather you unlock them by doing certain moves mid fight and each jem boost your stats if you hang on to it or you could choose to use it up to power up a special.

I also hope we get infinity counters back.

I disagree.

Yup, love it!

Can't wait for this game

Where are the Marvel heads trying to decipher where they're fighting? Looks like there's a throne at the top of that one building that look's like the Prophet's backs from Halo 2.

Slayven we know you just took an L but we need you

So do we know if it's Eighting again developing it?
We have no idea.

I hope you can steal the other guy's gem just like in MSH. From the trailer, I think it might be hinted at when Ryu snatched the one out of the air, since in MSH, dropped gems just fly out and you go pick them up.

So this is the first time the series comes to pc, right? Cool! Always found it weird that marvel VS capcom 3 never got a pc release last gen. Probably had to do with the rights.

“It was deeply inspiring for our development team to join forces again with Marvel and we can’t wait for our fans to experience the benefits of that collaboration first hand,” said Michael Evans, Director of Production for Capcom USA.
Does Capcom USA have its own studio? I'm kind of worried...

The only problem with that, is when the gem does get knocked out (let's say you can do that) then the game switches from fighting each other to fighting over the gem breaking (possibly) the flow of combat.

Kind of like when people switch gears to a smash ball

I FUCKING HOPE SO. That shit was dope in Arcana Heart movesets. Some folks need different shit to shine. If Infinity Gems impact Xfactor and maybe adds a few specials per character I'd be sooooooo hype. Only 6 to choose from seems fair considering how hard Arcanas are to design and balance across a roster.

We know how they work based on the press release.

Wow, reading.

game-changing Infinity Stones can be implemented into players’ strategies as a way to influence the outcome of battle. Each Infinity Stone provides a unique advantage to the player and represents a different aspect of the universe: power, space, time, reality, soul, and mind

Holy shit that sounds kinda how they worked in fuck msh

I would gladly accept this.

The only development studio Capcom has in NA is Capcom Vancouver I think. The Direction of Production role probably doesn't reference to the actual game's director but the general company role.

I highly doubt it means anything of the sort, he's just a spokesperson and Capcom USA is probably who deals with Marvel more than the Japanese studio developing it. At least I hope so.

We'll find out about assists later today, but remember the first and only time we heard of 2v2 being rumoured, it was in the context of a 2v2 + 1 assist. Infinity Stones seem like a separate mechanic.

Okay theory time.

The Capcom Unity post says there's a cinematic story mode with an "all new villian".

I assume that's the shadow guy at the end of the trailer.... who to me looks like Ultron

That'll do. But it reads like they aren't bringing over the popular Vita modes/features?

I hope the PC version isn't limited to 1080p...

Now I wonder if it's mvc1 style for maximum fan service, or just your second character is the assist like TVC

My hopes for how the gems work:

• Pick one before the fight.
• can be activated at any time
• can only be used once per fight
• each gem gives different buffs, i.e. Power works like Xfactor in MvC3 making you do more damage, others could give speed boost, revive a down character, give you unlimited hyper bar for a period of time, ect

I just hope there is only the 6 of them. Hoping this doesn't devolve into SFxT levels of stupidity.

I think it is actually Sigma + Ultron. Ultron and Sigma like to sit on thrones looking smug as fuck, and it would make sense, especially with X's inclusion.

Aye, thats true. In that case would make more sense to start with one and then you could concentrate on the opponent. I guess I just like the collection aspect but I can dig it.
