Honestly, if we do a big DLC poll again, I think doing the Marvel side would be kinda pointless. Marvel really doesn't care what we want lol, they just wanna push their characters they wanna push. Otherwise we would of gotten Venom and Gambit in (U)MVC3.

now that xmen is happening (allegedly), I wonder if they'll go all the way with it, or it's just going to be Wolvie, Magnus, Storm, Sent and Deadpool to shut the fanboys up.

If they do Gambit, no one's off limits, I think. Fox is straight up making a Gambit solo movie, so if Marvel is willing to put HIM in this game, they've probably given up on the whole "excluding Fox properties" horse shit.

All the MvCI hype the last several days motivated me to fire up Dolphin and play TvC in glorious 1080/60 with AA and AF.

Boy does that game hold up, I will never let the dream of that game re-releasing die, even though it will probably never happen. Would be a nice thought if MvCI played similarly, but without assists it won't be the same.

Is that what's really happening with Season 2? You have a slide that says "completely new characters", but Takayuki says "new to the Street Fighter Universe"... which one is it? They didn't talk balance patches or any QOL changes fans have asked for. Nothing about the arcade mode that so many people cried about.

They had the attention of their entire community...and just said "hey here's Akuma this month and maybe 5 more guys that are maybe new or whatever".

I thought that's what "completely new characters" meant when I first saw the slide and then Takayuki confirmed my suspicions. Balance updates are coming as we saw in the recent blog update on Capcom unity by Combofiend. As for Arcade and QoL, I don't think they are priority for the base game right now but it will be nice to have.

My personal list so far; it's a bit of an amalgamation of who I'd predict and who I'd personally want.

Honestly it's really hard to predict anything for this game. Conventional wisdom says there's probably going to be less characters in this game's starting roster than Marvel 3, but that makes it really hard to rationalize what characters of the obvious picks will return in order to make room for newcomers, as well as whether or not certain "groups"/franchises have to be toned down to make representation fair.

As much as I hate the thought I feel like we're only getting one Darkstalkers rep this time (if we're getting two I'm erring towards Hsien-Ko over Felicia due to Capcom seemingly wanting more of a marketable exposure and we know what the likes of ESPN think of R.Mika for one). I'm kind of flip flopping on Strider, depending on what time of the day you ask me I'd say Asura is more likely. Phoenix Wright might be assumed as the easiest pick for the chopping block in terms of vets but he's among one of Capcom's most popular ongoing franchises as of present and I think they'll want him back for that reason.

Marvel side is a bit easier to predict but I think they're gonna want to throw a bone to some of their ongoing comics as well.

I'd swap Wanda for Rocket, since the former will likely be amongst the DLC due to the Fox thing.

Definitely. The base roster is most likely decided already, but polls might have an influence on DLC choices.

DMC4SE Vergil is kinda broken even in that game. You need to make some adjustments.

I think you can make some slight adjustments and make it more like SE. They can make Vergil more interesting in this new game by adding in the motivation mechanic from SE. He starts out weaker and has lower range on normals but gets more motivated over time. You build that motivation meter by being aggressive, landing attacks and lose it if you get hit or whiff normals. They can add in perfect Judgment Cuts like EWGF to make him a skillful character like in SE. Some more aerial options like the air combo for Yamato and air Lunar Phase.

They have to make Spiral Swords cost 2 meter now. Or change it dramatically. Vergil from Marvel 3 would dominate in this game if it's going to play like I think it would.

It's going to be most interesting how they handle Dante.

I think if they are porting heavily then we will just get DMC3 Dante. Which is fine because that's a great Dante moveset wise. Probably best to do that to save time and resources. They should add in Spiral moves too though.

I'd be down for perfect judgment cut. Him having ss as 2 sounds fair. But would that mean he'd have the only lvl 2? Damn it i just want his taunt to be the same when he held yamato in dmc3. "you shall die"

It's only fitting Gambit would be the one to put the Fox ban to rest, considering Marvel has been treating him like a banned character in the X-Men comics for roughly a decade.

There is a problem; we don't know which Capcom characters would make in base roster and the votes are more likely not to influence Marvel side since they are going to make the decision.

I'm up for it but someone need to make a thread and make the strict rules like 3 or 5 votes for Capcom or something like that.

I guess the problem is that outside of lacking a proper Mega Man of sorts, the Capcom side of UMVC3 really was pretty much definitive. Capcom nailed it by basically putting in every major fan favorite character (With some exceptions like X or Gene): Haggar, Zero, Amaterasu, Viewtiful Joe, Arthur, Vergil, Phoenix Wright, Spencer, Frank West, Dante, Strider, etc.

I do want new characters like Gene, Asura and hell, throw in Batsu in there, but I wouldn't want to lose big and iconic Capcom names like Haggar, Arthur, etc for them.

She's also been banned from most games, same for Pietro. Only Lego Avengers managed to squeak by with the Maximoff Twins. Plus the list was missing Rocket. So as much as I love Wanda (best bae), Rocket is much more likely than her.

Well, to be fair, outside of cutting the fat on over represented franchises like RE,SF and DMC, the roster in that game for the capcom side was stellar.

If Project X Zone is any indication, we're going to get primarily MHX and X4 references much like how Smash 4 uses MM2/3.

For example X's Armor mode in this, his charge shot was changed to the type you get from Zero's Buster if you didn't find the Arm Parts capsule before the Vile rematch in Maverick Hunter X. The one from the Light Capsule is a series of small blasts in a chain-like formation, while Zero's Buster shot is one large shot similar to the one shown in the trailer.

Initially I thought it was the Stock Charge Buster from X4 because of the shape but since it is using X1's armor it has to be a reference to MHX's Z Buster.

Which would make sense, since X1/MHX and X4 are the main games that people remember (or choose to remember, since things start getting iffy starting with X5).

Really going to be interesting to see just what X will look upon completion...
