Ultimate Marvel vs Capcom 3 - PS4 Edition |OT| Logan's Last Ride

I only ever played this on the Vita. Playing this on PS4 on my big TV was amazing. I suck so bad at Marvel but it is still so fun. SFV is a game I feel like I get better and better at. Marvel is just insanity to me. Getting together with my SFV buddy this week and instead of SFV we are gonna Marvel is up and it will be the worst play ever. I also imagine it will be super fun.

Sorry if I missed it but did anyone check the credits for an external dev yet?

Just curious if the port was done in-house or not.

I might pick this game up a bit later. I kind of want to wait and see if they'll at least fix those sound issues people have been reporting (as well as adding PS3 stick support of course). Other than that, I'm quite glad this new port exists so everything is available once again in one place on modern systems and without separate DLC character DL issues etc.

Edit: another question if I may (even if no-one answered my other on yet): I actually just found out that the UMVC3 intro included in the game was not the full extended version(!). Did I remember correctly that someone here might have mentioned that this extended version is not included anywhere in the PS4 port either, not as an attract mode in the main menu nor in the gallery? If so, then it would seem that Capcom's weird decision to not include the full intro to games in the actual games did not start with SFV after all but with UMVC3 apparently. A shame if you ask me, as I love having as much promotional material and art from a game in the game itself.

I forget, does Taskmaster's vertical arrow assist work as an OTG?
I've always used parabolic as his assist, but I was wondering if Trish gets any decent OTG combos, or if she benefits more from parabolic.

It works as an OTG, but the timing is pretty strict (only pops them up for a millisecond), and you need to modify your combos to utilize it properly. I also think it works better as a keepaway assist than parabolic would, like a less useful but faster version of hidden missiles.

So is this game good to pick up as a newbie to the MvC series? I play a bunch of SF and other fighters but never played this one. A good time to jump in or should I just wait for infinite?

Might as well start learning with 3, Infinite being 2v2 will be a little easier I think. It's how I am preparing for it.

Definitely. It's a great game, doesn't take a lot of time to get the hang of, and a lot of fun to just mess around with.

Honestly I spent most of my MVC3 time in training mode and I had tons of fun just doing that. As long as you're not expecting to jump online and dominate immediately.

Does anyone know if the brook converters work with TE1 sticks. Im dying to play this with arcade stick at the moment and don't want to spend on another.

I cant watch the video at the moment, but I can say the loading is definitely faster, in menus by a lot. I'm guessing this is gameplay/in a match

It's just the super flashes being a few frames slower so a programmed macro of a combo that works on 360 doesn't work on PS4 as the timing is slightly different. No big deal.

Are the connection bars glitched? They're all really bad and I'm afraid to play anyone. I'm on the same connection I played on 360 so I'm not sure if it's bad luck or something else. 4 bars are as good as before, aka not very.

Angelic posted a bunch about how he was able to consistently do all his tech in the port, so unless some weird issue is yet to be uncovered, it's probably technically sound and cool for tournaments or whatever.

Man I really hope they patch in PS3 stick support. I'd play on pad but after hours of Vita play I don't really feel comfortable on pad. It seems like they did a great job with the port right off the bat, unlike USF4.

Had most fun I've had in ages gaming wise on this playing you lot for hours last night.

Those last games we had were so close Kinsei, tense stuff haha.

I'll be tonight at some point if anyone fancies a game or 10 :)

Those games were super fun. It's amazing how quickly time flies while playing this game.

Are there trophies? I am shocked how quick the game loads now.

There are trophies.

Getting back into playing this, I am reminded of how ridiculously enjoyable Marvel is to just watch on the screen.

Also, I still think a big reason the game's so hype to watch is that it's very viewer-friendly in its underlying concepts. It's easy to grasp one character represents a third of a team's health. That the goal when catching a character is to come as close to one-combo-knockout as possible. Trying to catch and mix-up the next character falling into the screen. Trying to catch an assist for a happy birthday.

Yeah I really want that PS3 stick support too. Don't want to have to buy a new stick either. I have also played a million hours on Vita and can't really play on the PS3 pad even though the Vita is technically a (much better) pad as well.

Welp, caved and bought a Brook converter for PS3 to PS4. Had enough fun playing even with the execution errors and thumb pain to get hit with the bug again. If I'm going to dive in I might as well go right in the deep end.

Also trying to execute X-Factor or play PW with four face buttons is true hell.

Thats good news. Angelic seems like the type to be in the lab a bunch and knowledgable about these type of things

Yep. I'll take Angelic's word on it playing well as compared to a dude running a script via a Cronus for now. Also I can't tell a difference in actually executing and neither can the locals here so for now I'm not seeing this as a major issue.

Why the hell is this still not up in Australia? What's going on?

I read somewhere the PSN AU store doesn't update as frequently as other regions.. and should update midweek.. like tomorrow or Thursday?

Let me know if it does, will fire up my PS4 and buy it too.

Having a decent amount of fun with this port- I think the much quicker loading actually goes a huge way there. Really though, this port just makes me want an HD TvC even more.

just the timings i think. i think i was trying Wolverine with the beserker barrage h into beserker barrage x. and I just couldn't get it.

I'm not familiar with Wolverine, but generally you want to do the input as quick as possible. So you cancel the start of the berserker barrage h animation into berserker barrage X. So you'll do qcf.h and then qcf. 2 attack buttons straight after. You want to make sure Wolverine hits with the move though.

In some situations, for example if you want to use Ryu's shinku hadoken super and cancel that into say Dante's gun super, you don't want to cancel that straight away, otherwise Ryu'll jump out and Dante will tag in before the hadoken has a chance to hit them a lot of times.

If you want to practice cancels, Iron Fist is a good choice to practice with, as he's a Rekka character (like Fei Long from SF). That means he can cancel his special moves into each other up to 3 times, and can cancel these into a super.

A fairly simple combo to practice cancels would be something like
qcf.l, qcb.l, qcf.m (this is a rekka consisting of 3 special moves that cancel into each other. The last hit leads into a crumpled state, where the opponent will slowly fall to the floor.

Then you can cancel into towards, down, down towards (shoryuken motion) and either l, m, or h. This is a buff that Iron Fist has, and each button is a different buff.

After you do this, use s to launch them, jump after them, and do the standard m,m,h,s while your in the air, which will knock them down to the ground.

When you land, do qcb.m, and cancel to qcf. two attack buttons. The qcb.m is an OTG, which will lift the opponent off the ground so that you can continue your combo, which in your case will just be a cancel into his super.

So the input will be: qcf.L,qcb.L,qcf.M -> srk.M,S -> j.MMHS -> qcb.M,qcf.AA

Awesome, thank you. I'll keep this in mind when I jump back into the game later today. I think I'm waiting too long to perform the cancel.

If I recall, mashing after Beserker Barrage H gives some extra hits, which gives you a little more time to cancel into the Super version.

So far:

Consensus: great port

YouTube Guy: slower

Paranoid people: bad port

Eh, I'll wait for top players to chime in.

Anyway the YouTube video was also using a cronus max.

You forgot muffled audio and missing/incorrect voices for some characters. Not a deal breaker though.

Glad to see this release has put some life back Into the 360 version. I actually got some online matches today and unlocked acheivents I thought I never have a chance of getting.

That combo isn't really optional or anything, so you shouldn't be trying to use it in an actual match. It's just the most simple combo I could think of that features cancels, as well as going into more advanced things like using OTG attacks to extend combos.

But yeah, you're probably performing it a bit too slow. Or like 2n2 said, you have to mash H to extend the animation of the first move to allow your cancelled super to connect.
