Lootboxes have their content randomly generated when they are created, not when you open them, so no items from the Winter Event or new characters.

yep, you might as well crack them open now and see if you can get a few legendaries or coins to go towards the chrismtas event, so not all is lost.

To be fair, that's a lot of what I see on Halloween, so they weren't crazy far off base from reality.
