NPD - PS4 was the top selling console of November 2016

Wait. Sony released a new console!? Now it all makes sense. Stop the thread, peeps. Sony accomplished nothing of note here.
A company winning the month where they released a new console is not really something of note tho.

What have Microsoft turned around?
Sony complete dominance at the beggining of this gen?

Or the PS4 and PS4 slim would have sold better in the preceding months. Quite a few people were waiting on the Pro. Food for thought.
Same could be said for the Scorpio tho.

Rockefellers. Skull and Bones. Microsoft. Al Qaeda. A Cabal of Bankers. The melting point of steel. What do these things have in common? Wake up sheeple, the landfill wasn't even REAL!

This is why we need numbers. Because as of this time we have no basis for this.
Yeah if the gap was considerably big then you're right. Are we getting any numbers soon?

And the only reason MS had won the past 3 months was because they released a new console. Funny how that works.
I wouldn't compare the Xone S with the Pro tho. I might be wrong but the Pro is more in line with Scorpio and not Xone S.

I don't care. But you can't have the one without the other, is all i'm saying.

Unless....you don't have a console of choice and just enjoy talking about the business side of the industry.

But the type of people these threads attract make that impossible.

I guess I know what I'll be having for dinner tonight.

I should have known better to bet against Sony, especially with the Pro releasing. I, in fact, bought one myself. I thought MS was going to be able to sustain its momentum going into Nov.

If nothing gets delayed. Sony is going to have a nice first 4 months of the year. If Horizon makes it's release date I could see that being HUGE for Sony. You know they are going to go all out for that game. It just needs to review well.

Not to mention. Pro could potentially be $300 and the Slim could be $200 next Holiday when the Scorpio releases. With Bundles and marketing deals for Batllefront 2, Destiny 2 AND RDR2. Sony has the chance to really crush next year.

Sony has marketing for RDR2? Thats news to me

Now that Black Friday and Holiday sales will begin to slow down, it's going to be interesting to see how MS does their song and dance for about 11 months until Scorpio releases. If done right they could generate a fair amount of hype, if done poorly it could mean tough times for Xbox. (probably going to be the latter, especially in the dog days of summer)

As for Sony, they're in a great place balancing hardware, imminent software and future software for fans to be excited for. Well done.

Eh, people just like making predictions and having fun when the results roll in. It's not too dissimilar from friendly banter over sports teams.

When you put it like that, then it's looking tougher for the Xbox. They're gonna have to fight tooth and nail to get gamers excited for their console over Sony's.

Didn't people here were saying that the last PR about the 50 millions was a damage control statement? Or it was a link to a twitter meltdown?

Fucking lol.

Now they are just including the Playstation in their PR.

Damn, didn't catch that one before. They are talking consoles, nor Xbox in the "most sought" products; they are including PS4 in their own statement lol

No way. It was the best Black Friday week in PlayStation history and the Pro came out.

Again: BF is not the entire month, and sales centralization around the BF/CM holiday has been accelerating.

Consider a sum of sales in a gaussian spread over the entire month with a wide Full Width Half Max, now change that FWHM to be narrower and narrower to the limit where you approach a delta at BF/CM. The integral under the curve (that is, the sum of sales) is unchanged, but you have an increasingly larger and more extreme spike.

If I reduce my total sales by some % but also decrease my FWHM by a suitable degree (centralizing sales around my gaussian center) then I can both have a drop YoY in sum totals but an increase at a given point.

Will we get figures on pro vs slim sales? I know this is US but the UK had some amazing deals for slim + 3 games that I know several people bought, still don't know any friends who bothered with a pro

You do realize the months Xbox sold more than PS4 means nothing worldwide?

It always was dominance.

Sony just released a new console. If there was no Pro MS would have probably won their 5th month in a raw. It's still amazing how MS managed to turn things around in the US and only be beaten due to a new console release.

Yeah I guess it's amazing... but didn't MS only turn things around by releasing a new console as well?

According to Sony's Shuhei Yoshida, the PlayStation 4 Pro is off to an unexpectedly strong start. Speaking with Digital Spy, the likeable suit admitted that the company had primarily anticipated the premium platform to sell to early adopters, but it turns out that many are selecting the supercharged system as their first foray into the world of PS4.

"We need more time to analyse the situation, but it seems that more people who are buying PS4 for the first time are choosing PS4 Pro," he told the British website. "I think that's driving a larger demand than we had anticipated. In many markets it's sold out and hard to find."
For people dont think pro selling well

This is the second year in a row Microsoft's "ignore everything but the Holiday Season" strategy has failed. I think a change in tactics is in order...

For people dont think pro selling well

But GAF told me without a 4k Blu-Ray drive no one would want the Pro!

Pro is an enthusiast model. Most people aren't going to care/know about the difference and will for the cheaper one.

It's never going to come close to selling as well as the Slim.

Knack 2 announcement was so great it caused people to buy up all the PS4's before it was even announced.

Being serious for a second, it would have been an embarrassment for Sony if they had not won last month, they needed to launching Pro as they did.
