NPD - PS4 was the top selling console of November 2016

Wonder how big the gap is though, it's a very important detail.
Gotta love the description on his newest video.

"It only took the release of a PS4 Slim, PlayStation VR, PS4 Pro and deep, DEEP discounts on everything to squeak out a slim victory over Xbox One in November!"
The funny thing is that these "grown ass men" are constantly being put in their place under the comments of their newest video yet they refuse to reply, knowing damn well they're being exposed.
Perhaps the biggest fanboys on YouTube.

They can't actually have believed it, I assume most were joking.

Isn't the 4k adoption rate for TVs like 1%?

Don't have the announcements at hand but the majority of new tvs being sold this year, over 50", have been 4k tvs and on total 48% of all new TV sets. UK, seen to the amount of sold units only in Europe, was helming the charge.
And China, also seeing only to units sold, is buying most of these sets in the world.

There is some fluff piece piece both from Samsung, Sony and LG all saying something similar.

Hope we get actual numbers within the next couple of months. Sorry to hear that Aqua got legally threatened. That's not good.

I would love to hear how many Pros vs. Slims got sold, too. I wonder if Sony will share Pro sales numbers or just give vague "meeting expectations" comments.

Also this is talking about PS4, PSVR doesn't inflate sells of PS4 so it's not even an equation to Sony outselling MS. That'd be like saying surface Pro helped the Xbox outsell Sony.

Right, but reading threads here, which I know isn't all accurate for the general public, a bunch of PSVR owners upgraded to the PS4 pro and either traded in or sold their PS4. Which would inflate sales for the pro. Also I'm sure a bunch of pro owners traded or sold the OG PS4 which again would inflate sales.

I'm having trouble following your mental gymnastics. Just curious did you use the same logic after the Xbox One S launched?

I dunno I think it'd be exactly the same. Most people would be saying it's a cool feature to be sure, but not really something that would affect purchase decisions. Some people who have the console complaining and wishing it had it, while people who had the competing console would gloat that they had it.

That's really the point that I was making. Usually the people who are missing the feature will downplay it, rarely giving it props. Expected though, sour grapes and all that.

Lol! PSVR isn't even in the equation. I need some of that salt for my pretzels.

I thought it was selling pretty good? I'd hoped it pushed people to buy a PS4, but then again I want VR to sell well in general. I'm sure Sony hoped to get some new faces and I think they did.

Its best to wait till numbers are made available before jumping on hypotheticals of how market responded.

Doesn't matter. Those old ones still go to another home and PS4 is still in more homes than Xbox. The only way it would matter is if the majority of those people who upgraded kept their old systems. I mean the same could be stated for the Xbox One S that people were upgrading to the latest model and that happens all the time on every system revision. It's just irrelevant speculation.

I watched the video. He even draws similarities between people who buy ps4 and people who buy Justin Bieber. As if being an Xbox fan is also like being a fan of a really good unknown band. Lol.

I think most people regardless of which console they have give it the right amount of credit. It's a cool feature for gamers, not for sales. Not really seeing the sour grapes you're referring to except from maybe an extreme minority of people i.e. the hardcore console warriors.

I stopped watching his videos because I'm not gonna reward for him acting a fool. I think it is partially an act.

And people were already saying doom and gloom for Sony since XB1 was outselling it for last few months....Well looks like most ppl were waiting for the Pro...and BAM the king is back!!!

With a lot of good stuff to come next year, I think they will continue with the trend. Have to see how Scorpio changes things at the end of 2017...but Sony can price cut Pro/Slim to counter Scorpio which might give them more sales. It will be interesting.

I'm thinking the win was probably a bigger gap than people think.

Some sort of appeal to console/music hipsterism?

Isn't more like saying you're cooler for liking Ford over GM or vice versa.

Or that you're a music hipster because you only use Bose?

wut.

So is that MS PR only comparing one day of MAU YOY? Seems odd considering its a Friday vs Sunday comparison and it's only a day of data. Am I reading it wrong.

I guess I could, when the Xbox one S launched did MS win that month? I'll try and look it up.

Edit: a quick google search and it looks like the S launched in August and MS won that month. So yes that's why MS won.

Yes Numbers would be good, it's fun to speculate though.

People were (wisely) waiting for pro. Maybe MS wins again when Scorpio comes out.

I really did not think about this until I saw your post, but I am sure that MS was looking at Sony's messaging, release strategy and sales figures of the PRO with great interest. It really is the first time a company have tried this and will change the way consoles are released going forward. I personally think Sony did a shitty job with the PRO and they should of had a lot more older games with Pro features and more games that actually took real advantage of it. If the PRO turns out to be a good win, then to your point does potentially mean that Scorpio will be fine as well.

I was one of the people that went with the PRO. For me, it just makes sense and the price difference between the two units, without taking the crazy sales going on it is well worth it. Yes, I wish there was a lot more software and I wish some the PS4 PRO enhanced games ran better (FF I am looking at you), you can definitely see the potential in the system and I am looking forward to devs getting to grips with it and really showing what it can do.

Maybe you're right and it's all just my imagination.

If they don't they're in major trouble.

They could never win another NPD forever and be fine. It's more about how much they get beat by.

Waiting for stock in my country.

If US/EMEA has such a PS4 Pro surplus, then send some to Asia 😲

Yeah Sony massively undershipped in Asia. It's sold out everywhere here in the Philippines, and instantly gets bought up as soon as new stock arrives.

Maybe. Have you seen lots of people say that it's not a good feature? I don't really understand how they'd argue that a free feature that lets you play old games you already own is somehow bad for the gamer.

On the other hand many people here say that the feature really has no bearing on sales of a console and they're right.

Real talk yall. We shouldn't even be discussing people like Crap Gamer. Seriously it's even in his name. I used to think people like him were just playing a role, but no he's actually fucking serious. It's sad, but we shouldn't bring that shit in here.

Ever since cyber Monday is been sold out on Amazon and won't be in stock until the 16th. Which I find strange, you'd think Sony would make sure Amazon has plenty of stock.

For real. It's just sad. Dude is delusional and needs help.

Believes Dragon Quest is a franchise managed by Sony
People like Crapgamer on the Xbox side and JaytechTV for Playstation are just man children who have a podium.

Its unfortunate.

I honestly believe that I have. "Current gen backlog, nobody wants to play old games, etc" same with people who act like checkerboard rendering isn't great because "fauxK" and "Scorpion will have real 4K". But like I said, I'd rather just assume you're right and I imagined it because I'm not going to try to pull quotes.

Also I also said it has little to no bearing on sales.

I think you're conflating people saying that most people play new games rather than old games with them saying it's a bad feature.

I too believe only a minority of people actually use it but that doesn't mean it's not a neat and useful feature.

God, "Scorpio will turn the tide!" is gonna be the rallying cry for all of 2017, isn't it?

Bring back the blackboard. It's amazing that most of it the time it seems like it's a junior having a sales meltdown. People need to fucking chill since coming off as salty in a sales thread only makes it worse.

It is amazing that you took the other posters comment and turned into what you wrote. I don't think anyone is saying that it will turn the tide, it is people like you that fuel some of the b.s. that is spread. The other poster was just suggesting that if the PRO did very well, it can potentially be a good thing for Scorpio because the market is accepting mid-gen upgrades...no one is saying it is going to turn the tide.

Lord Error

Insane For Sony
We don't see meaningful numbers any more.
Just nonsense ship-to-retailer numbers where everyone is in a winner.
All of our NPD leakers got taken out by the mafia.
AFAIK, PS4 50 million number is sold to consumers. Sony only announces sold through numbers nowadays.

I miss Hindle's antics :(. Wish GAF mods would unban him.

And congrats Sony but lets wait for Sec numbers before I say "the king has truly returned"

I don't. He was eloquent but nothing he talks about are founded in facts but illusions of MS grandeur and wilful misbelief of things he affirmed for himself (like Donnie Yen) even when an Asian like myself tells him he's objectively false.
