I never had Xbox and I'm not a fanboy of any current console. But people of course still thinking that it's impossible to dislike some company approach in business without being a fanboy of other company.

It shows all the talk of doom and gloom and of the uhd being a Trojan horse as being utter stupid though. Uhd is niche of a niche and if you're that hardcore into the medium you'd want a real standalone deck for your playback.

Exactly the majority of people are either on a streaming service like netflix or have a android box/tv with kodi. The majority of people that are buying these consoles aren't looking to watch physical movies. You have to be a fool to believe physical media in the movie/tv show business has a legit future. If you aren't streaming then you are already behind.

I personally after psx decided not to get a Switch for at least a few years. Going to get a ps pro instead to match with my 4k tv. Just gonna wait for Horizon to do it.

In 2006 Netflix only sent DVDs through the mail and Bluray was competing with HD-DVD as the standard high def film format so let's not pretend the situation was remotely comparable.

My honest guess is he is a Ninentdo die hard. Once Sony entered the market Nintendo has been on projecting downwards. With the exception of the Wii. Technically Sony is the main cause of Nintendos overall failure over the past 20+ years. So a lot of these die hards for some crazy reason just want to see Sony fail.

Bizarre that so many on Gaf were clinging to the idea that UHD would now swing results in XB1 favour. I don't believe the mass market ritght now is all that bothered truthfully.

Now the wait for actual numbers in January is a pain for some meaningful discussion to be had.

Don't forget that MS has been trying to avoid announcing games too early nowadays and they don't have enough 3rd party stuff from especially Japanese devs to support a show at the same scale of E3.

After putting a trailer for a 6 TFLOPS MONSTER Project SCORPIO COMING in a year and a half... smart strategy as people started to measure a console coming out in a couple of months against a console coming out well over a year later.

While true, it's worth pointing out that the PS3 was approaching 70m when the Wii was approaching 100m. Wii petered out around a normal 5-year lifecycle, while PS360 saw late-gen resurgence and lengthened lifespans compared to a normal cycles. Also, that late-gen resurgence was at $299 and below. The $499/$599 was a major factor in PS3 starting off so very, very slowly.

A lot of people on GAF have price blindness when it come to evaluating technology. They don't account for the fact that the average consumer evaluates the value of a product, not its raw power. The Wii was by far the cheaper product, but because it was the only one to offer motion control at launch, it wasn't viewed as a cheap product. That killer combo skyrocketed its sales.
