It was literally the only photo I could select. I never saved any because I saw there was a limit and I was like eh fuck that. Saved this one though near the end because it was hilarious

Can't stop laughing at this.

Okay, I just checked. Post ending the sun sets at 7pm and the guys wake up to morning sun at 6am. I have no clue why you guys have only 5 hours of sun. Maybe a bug? If my game is bugged, thank God. I'm having fun doing all post game stuff in broad daylight. :)

I wish I knew. It makes sense story wise, but it really makes doing anything in the world a pain with such a short timer. I was hoping the post game would send me back to when the daylight was still normal. When my guys started waking up at 9, I thought maybe I had changed something and I looked all over to see if there was a way to make them get up earlier. I guess my game bros are just lazy.
In my game, it's completely dark by 3:00 in the afternoon.

Did you actually save your game after the ending? Because you should be waking up at 6am.

Yep.
Actually, I can't remember if I slept once I was returned to Caem. It returned me at 9 in the morning (just like when I left) so I assumed that was when it was going to start the day. I'll have to check whether sleeping changes anything.

Only thing I can think of is that you're sleeping at camps/trailers which means you wake up later because the boyz are partiyng hard all night. At hotels, you will wake up earlier.

I guess mine were partying hard at the hotel in Lestallum too because they got up late there as well - probably because Jared wasn't there to wake them up.
Save the world or sleep in?
Sleep in!

Been talking to a few guys that have experienced this same thing. I got really curious about the sometimes inability to use Phoenix downs or other restorative items during Ardyn's second phase. Several time I've been killed and unable to use a Phoenix down or other healing item. They were all greyed out. This only happens when Ardyn is close to you, and his posture makes it look like he has some sort of telekinetic control over your body. It's happened to too many other people in the same fashion to be a bug. Could this be a mechanic of his? Pretty cool if so.

While I can sorta understand limiting phoenix down use here something is up with potions being unavailable here. I've been in that situation where the only thing I could use was an elixir, though I should have been able to use a potion.

The first time it happened to me, I thought a cut scene or transition animation was triggering because potions were greyed out while my grey health was draining but it's a game over as soon as you hit zero without a chance for a phoenix down. I've played a few times since and have had luck with elixirs when that happens.

Thinking about it, they really should've just scrapped the chapter 10 dungeon or incorporate them into Tenebrae somehow. It's pretty much just a generic quarry with Malboro boss (although the train station area is pretty cool!)

Would've been far more interesting to have Tenebrae as some kind of third final city you stop and could explore before going to Niflheim, and maybe have some final closure on Luna too.

As it is right now, it's just series of train stops to Niflheim. Guess they ran out of time :\

Maybe the same case of running out of time with Altissia too?
When I first visited and saw the map size, I was really excited. One of the biggest disappointment of the game for me {along with Tenebrae and to some extent Insomnia) that we can only explore maybe 10% of it.

Also, did we get to see any cutscene of Shivas flying in the snowy area in the game? I remember seeing it in one of the trailer/vids, but I haven't encountered it in the game.

That's just the regular Shiva summoning sequence you saw in the trailer.

This is more of a technical question, but did the last campfire cutscene look bad for anyone else? It was bizarre, the entire rest of the game aside from Prompto's night photos looked great, but practically all of the three scene was covered by macroblocking. It literally looked like a prototype. In the grand scheme of things its not super important, but I couldn't concentrate on what was actually happening.

And what happened to Cor? I don't even remember why he didn't join you to Altissia. Did he have something better to do?

I guess my other big question is what does Prompto being an MT entail other than conveniently being able to open doors when the need arises? Is he part daemon?

Noct spent more time with any guy in the game than a girl so it doesn't matter. Yes, this includes Luna who would likely slap him in the after life.

"Dead General Kills The King"

Suppose it could be referring to Noctis but my first thought was definitely Glauca Vs Regis. The movie did seem to allow him a chance at living, and he had Magitek armor like Ravus and we all know how he turns out...

I think that's just a variation on the Samurai monster. I think I recall doing that hunt...

The only problem with this is Glauca is presumably wounded and not dead. I mean.... sure people could argue he died since he's not in the game but he's definitely breathing after his duel with Nyx.

Finished it, and boy the game as a whole went fucking places.

I kept ignoring every "are you sure? You won't be able to come back for a while!" messages after Chapter 8, because I assumed you'd be dropped back in, considering that's exactly what happened the first several times that message popped up. So I kept going, and going, and going expecting the game to reach some sort of "normalcy". I even expected that they'd find a way to bring Ignis' sight back. I knew you could call Umbra whenever but I still expected that, at the very least, you'd have Noctis and co. in "real time" so to speak as post-game, so I just kept going. Then the game ended with the world destroyed and Noctis dead.

Uhhh

It's pretty admirable that they went so far with the story and an ending/resolution so "final". Both empires completely falling with no king or emperor on either side, and having the remaining population have to rebuild from scratch is pretty fucking crazy. On the other hand, like many MANY other things in this game, they don't actually tell you this. Sure, they tell you Noct has to sacrifice himself to kill Ardyn, but they keep it somewhat vague, and they hammer the whole "reclaim his throne!" thing much, much harder anyway. It really seemed like there was gonna be some plot contrivance that allowed him to live, for peace to be restored, etc.

So at first I found the ending wanting, because they were pretty vague about it. They never actually explain what happens after, though giving it some thought that's the only logical explanation. In a way it's neat to leave those details for you to figure out, but on the other hand the story is so clunkily told that I'm not convinced that was intentional.

Plenty of stuff to do post-game, but it's the first game I've played where "post game" actually makes you go 10 years into the past (and 10 in-game hours into the "past") to actually get it. It's really weird, and oddly unsatisfying. Not to dog the game for it, I think it's a really bold way of doing things and should be commended for it, but on a personal level (and only personal!), narratively it's so disjointed that I can't bring myself to do any post-game content. Even if there's tons of fun stuff to do, narratively it's all "pointless" because the story will play out identically. This is different from other games with post-game content because it's an "epilogue" style continuation of the "story", even if there's no actual plot to advance anymore. I don't know if anyone else feels this way.

At any rate, it's really sad how half-finished they had to ship this game in terms of plot development. This post in particular is eye-opening and sad at the same time:

You got it mixed up. Ardyn was the healer of the people, he was chosen and ready to ascend. And then denied and replaced because he absorbed the plague into himself to save others. This act made him impure and immortal, and thus the crystal/gods denied his ascension, plus he was branded a daemon by his replacement (who took his name). He was forced to wander endlessly.

He succeeds. He wants to destroy the crystal, and end the lucis caelum bloodline. He knew about the prophecy, the 114th king would be the one whom the Crystal would accept. Regis knew this too btw, hence the sadness. So Ardyn sends Noctis on the way, beginning with the proposal to get him out during the conflict. He ensures Noctis will have all the tools and pacts to merge with the crystal and is willing to make the sacrifice. I think this is why he kills Luna who would die anyway, Noctis really needed to hate him to be ready and willing to do anything to make things right. Before that he didn't see Ardyn as the big bad yet.

Eye-opening because it gives TONS of depth to Ardyn's character and the plot as a whole, but sad that none of this was told effectively. I never even fully understand that he was the "true" heir to the throne, I thought he was just some distant ancestor who turned evil. The story as it was is very strong and memorable, but could've EASILY been one of the best of all time had they simply told it well and not chopped up in a thousand bits and plot points rushed or omitted entirely. We barely saw Luna and anything she did despite her being a major part of the story. We desperately needed a flashback scene that explained in detail the significance of the 114th King prophecy, why Regis was dying, etc., and have the scene end in this powerful moment that was literally featured ONLY in a trailer before anyone knew what the hell it meant back when that was put out.

It's this stuff that makes me go "aw come on, what the fuck guys??", the story was already there, it was all already laid out, they even put out materials and cutscenes for it, and proceed to not include it in the game at all. There are countless instances where they had every resource to tell a great story and dropped the ball.

Anyway, don't want to leave it on a sour note. This is one of the most interesting games I've played. Flashes of brilliance mixed with bafflingly poor choices, but you can't deny they didn't go for it at every turn. This is a truly special game.

I wonder what Ardyn was doing after Noct enters the crystal. Must have a hella sore butt sitting on the throne for 10 years.

Just went back and listened to the comments the guys make regarding Ardyn when you examine the pictures before the throne room:

Noctis: Hmm. Guessing Ardyn was meant to appear in these too.

Gladio: Hmph. Never would've guessed that guy for royalty.

Noctis: He's been living a long time... In a world he could share with no one.

To me, this definitely sounds like its implying that they're both from the same royal line. I guess it still doesn't exactly confirm that they're related by blood, just that there's a single Lucis Caelum line that means you're chosen by the Gods.

EDIT: Ardyn does refer to the royal line as the "blood royal". I wonder if that's intentionally phrased to imply a single bloodline? Though I think I'm reading too much into it at this point.

Was there an explanation on why Noctis went inside the crystal for 10 years but ended up in a prison?

And the prison was on a very cool looking island that you don't get to explore an inch of it, to boot.

Yeah, this is very possible. It's also possible that the bloodline itself was shifted when the gods chose Izunia instead (maybe that's why Ardyn's armiger is red - because he's of a different lineage?) I wish the game was clearer about this.

I wish it was clearer about a lot of things.

That part was so cool, when you walk out from that room and the dark sky at outside.. Lighting was great.

What happened to the Greece-like town shown during development lol?
They should have just remove everything past chapter 9 and focus on making the open world more rich. I really don't understand why they went that way. We didn't need to go to Niflheilm or Tenebrae at all for the story to move forward. All that it needed was for Eos to have one more Town (southern coast near caem is perfect) and focus on taking back the throne. That part after chapter 9 is utter shit and really no reason to exist.

You manually pilot they type-f, BUT, if you are using auto (ie: ignis) landing is more automated. if you are near roads, he'll move with the curves (test this out by being near roads as ignis or as noct, you'll see the difference. )

landing is much smoother in "auto" even if you still have to manually fly and land, and you won't damage the car as easily if you don't land perfectly straight. His decelerated speed also seems to be less than nocts decelerated speed, but i'd have to look into that before making conclusions.

basicallu, if im in auto, i don't bother saving in the type-f, but if noct is driving i save.

So...

  1. There were 4 people hanged at the throne but was merely an illusion. Niflheim Emperor, Regis, Luna and ????
  2. Luna and Noctis having a wedding. I guess this an afterlife?
  3. What happened to Prompto, Gladio and Ignis? I guess they die too?
  4. A footage was shown where they were camping. An afterlife? or just before the event going to Insomnia?

I know I finished the game but it feels like there's quite a lot of questions unanswered and I don't know even know what the hell I'm doing.

- Nyx. from the movie. its meant as an easter egg and sort of as a way of saying "yeah, this guy had the rings power and died and yet i'm still here. No one can stand in my way to you" (or rather, "all of these people's deaths have lead to you being here. I win.")

- afterlife

- ambiguous, its assumed they are still alive, but you can think whatever.

- scene before insomnia.

yeah that cutscene looked AWFUL to me. It had color banding everywhere and blockyness. I thought it was my new TV doing HDR wrong onmy pro.

but then i checked youtube and it was fine. so i'm not sure whats going on there..

1. It's Nyx, protagonist of Kingsglaive.
2. It's a "What If" like the ending to Titanic. Just a bittersweet scene to show you what could've been.
3. They are indeed dead. They're last shown going up against a large amount of daemons and next we see them they join Noctis in the afterlife along with Regis and Luna to destroy Ardyn for good. Not sure why people think it's "up to interpretation." It's not, they're dead.

I think they're all dead fending the deamons at least this is the only explanation for which we see them in the afterlife beating with regis and noctis ardyn hard. As usual for the whole narration is was just poorly told, infact not everyone caught this.

It was a pretty standard "I'm here because these people supported me!" trope of Japanese stories. They were shown very brief, almost like Ardyn was imagining things. Luna wasn't even there EDIT: She was, actually. I don't think it was meant to be an actual "afterlife".

Their last moments being a "leave this to us" moment while showing were also very standard trope, in which the guys there may or may not die.

That's why people think it's "up to interpretation", because a) it really doesn't matter, that is where the story ended and b) whether they were alive or dead can be explained plausibly due to the ambiguity of the events.

Yes, that was General Glauca of the Empire.

That dawn trailer scene would have been one of the best cutscens the game has if it was in the game lol. The story is there and it's very good but it was told so badly like fucking terrible bad. This could easily be one of the best FF if they would flesh out the story far better and made everything after Altissia like Lucia continent.

Let us explore the Empire continent. Speard out the content more like the Tombs and Summons. It would have been perfect if there was an area to explore for every Summon like we have the disc on Lucis contient or Altissia in Accordo. They could have moved Ramuh closer to the Rock of Ravatogh (was Ifrit supposed to be there?) and change it to something more Ramuh feeting. Obviously the snowy region of Shiva with outposts and stuff. Imagine how great it would have been. Fuck so much potential after how I think they mostly nailed Lucis continent in terms of looks and things to do (dungeons are great, hunts okay, fetch quest not really) and the road trip feeling.

This game clearly needed more development time. Such a shame but it's still a good game in the end. With patches and the known DLC they may make it a little better but it will not fix the underlying issues. This game could have been one of the greates for sure.
I will probably never get over how good this game could have been lol

And for fun I think the trilogy could have gone like this:
1: Lucis continent + Altissa - ends with death of Luna, more about Line of Lucis and the King's struggle, Summons and there nature.
2: Emipre continent - in fully glory, far more story backstory about Empire and why there doing what they are.
3: World of Ruin - both Lucis and Empire continet explorable with changes. Though this might have been a stretch as the whole game would have to be in the night setting.

The bros don't go with Noctis to the afterlife. They are inside the crystal. When Noctis destroys Ardyn, the both evaporate but not the bros. They are not dead. That's how I see it.

I recently did the Admanstoise fight and it was much easier than I thought. The thing rarely hit me and all I did was mash O until it died (although it did take about 30 minutes)

The MA-X mech you fight is way harder than Admantoise. Is it because I was level 99?
