A Fish Aficionado

I am going to make it through this year if it kills me
they dropped the "m" label on the 10 series right? meaning a laptop with a 1060 more or less has the same power as a desktop? i think i would definitely want to go Pascal as long as it could be done in the $1200~ range

yes good idea. the last laptop i spent a lot on was in 2004 and it broke just out of warranty.

I have a 970m and can run most stuff on very high detail, if not ultra, depending on the engine optimization.

Tried out the Resi 7 demo and was getting 20fps @ 1080p turns out the very high shadow setting was costing me 100 yes 100fps, anyone else get this seems incredibly demanding for some reason?

What video card are you using?

I have a 1070 and at 1440p with everything at its highest I get around 90+ FPS

The only setting I had issues with was HBAO+ but they fixed that with a patch a few days after the teaser launched

GTX 980 think its maxing out the vram as the card is only using around 40% otherwise, runs fine with just that one setting down so its fine :)

Why are people overhyping Horizon? Haven't seen anything from it to suggest it'll be a GOTY game for me

I really don't get it. Looks like just another open world game to me, and every gameplay vid I've seen of it also has the main character never shutting up >_<

Just finished Momodora.
I think it was nice, but faaar too short. It took me around 6 hours on Hard to 100% the map and get the True Ending.

Compared to that it took me around 35 hours to do that in Rabi Ribi.

It's a full 1060, but downclocked a bit.

You can compare here.

It trounces the 980m in performance.

- game offers highly customizable powerful special move that becomes available after meeting certain conditions. Bosses block these moves 95% of the time so they are not worth using when most needed.
- game offers tons of spells to play strategically - sleep, silence, etc. - but they never work on bosses so boss fights are all about putting up as much protection as possible and healing.

Where is Final Fantasy XII Remaster when you need it.

But i had both and liked Crash a lot more. The linear forward nature felt a lot more like a transition from classic 2D-Sidescroll platforming into a 3D environment than SM64 ever did, the faster pacing and imho better soundtrack and art design just cement it's quality for me.

Liking Crash more than Mario 64 is probably illegal somewhere.

Or at least should be.

TG is still very much alive. Among the job listings are entry-level positions for 2017 graduates.

Yeah Jaw punked me and I'm gullible. I hope TEW2 doesn't have black bars, a stable 60 FPS on PC and less or no insta-kill enemies.

Speaking of Resident Evil...I hate those types of enemies and invisible ones even more. I don't like that crap. I love watching RE speedruns on invisible modes but I can't play like the pros.

Hey NingenJanai, have you ever seen Shadowhunters? I think it is relevant to your interests. And man my wife watches a lot of dumb tv.

Since the last Steam Client update, everything I boot my PC, there's a Updating Steam/Verifiying Installation windows popping up, it does not matter if I opt to the beta in, or out, it doesn't matter if I clear the download cache from the Steam Client, I've deleted some files in the Steam folder and nothing fixes this issue... :(

Yeah, it's kind of confounding the amount of effusive praise that game has received IMO. Like, it was alright. I burned through it in no time flat less than three weeks ago and am having trouble remembering much of it. The bosses were a breeze and the level design didn't require much from the player in terms of skill or exploration.

Cecil hits like a wet noodle now... oh he actually went back to lvl 1 >_>

Thats actually kinda neat.

Another game that is probably not going to last long. Stolen assets and was only greenlit as they used a completely different game to get through the process.

So lazy it only has 3 achievements.

Is this the stuff that those guys in the removed games group go out of their way to buy?

I was going to complain about GAF GOTY being all homogenized AAA games in the thread itself but thought better of it (plus, a day late). I tried to play Uncharted -- bought the collection when it came out last year. Can't say that I cared much for it.

I wouldn't really call homogenized AAA action game hardcore by any stretch.

Said it better than I could. GAF has a real problem with diversity in taste. Big budget Sony releases tend to suck all the oxygen out of the air, leaving very little room for anything else.
