Rumour: L.A Noire Remaster Coming to Nintendo Switch says Rockstar Leaker (Twitter)

Correct me if I'm wrong on this as it has been some time, but wasn't the moral of La Noir's development that publishers shouldn't be profiteering off of studios offering poor work conditions? It's not okay to run game development studios as neo-slave labour work environments. As a publisher, it's not okay to fund those studios, and as a consumer, it's not ethical to validate the development and publication of games made within those work conditions, by purchasing the game.

I wouldn't knowingly purchase anything from a company selling something where the workers involved were not fairly treated. So in that sense, it doesn't make sense to purchase a remaster of this game, just as it didn't make sense to purchase a remaster.

Right or wrong, what you are describing barely gained any traction when it was first reported, let alone 5 years later, so I doubt it factored at all into Rockstar's decision, and will likely not at all factor into consumer decisions to purchase a remaster.

Of all the games, why bring this one back up? Rockstar have better games, and I would have thought that the ethical issues surrounding this games development would be a mistake that Rockstar wanted to forget.

Yeah but Rockstar are barely any better than Team Bondi and nobody cared after the Rockstar Wives incident with RDR so the same likely applies here. Plus Team Bondi folded from their bullshit.

Take Two sees the IP as a possible franchise with GTA and RDR so I wouldn't be surprised if a sequel is coming or already in development.

Oh, I didn't realize it never actually came out. Yeah, I'd guess the game is either canceled or moved to NS. If the plan is to release these remasters in preparation for Darksiders 3, I hope NS isn't excluded because the prequels never released on the system. Perhaps they'd release a Darksiders collection with 1 and 2 on NS for $30-$40.

I would be okay with that, honestly. I intended to get the Wii U version, but I'd definitely pick up the NS version of it if they went that way.

are all the western studios just going to rummage around their bottom of the barrel for a bare minimum to toss to the switch to see if it sells? Come on, put something at least more recent. This whole "oh see this 6 year old game didn't sell, guess we shouldn't try anymore" is nonsense. At least give it a chance.

Very random if true but it's a good game that tries new things, I wish there was a sequel coming out. It's fun/interesting on 1st playthrough especially if you like the 50s era/aesthetics, Switch people should check it out.

It's coming to X1 and PS4 too. I'm surprised the title to this topic hasn't changed.

I don't get it. Do people really just read the thread title and then post? Don't even read the OP? Don't even check the last few posts in the thread?

I'm sure that a lot of people read the title, maybe a couple of lines in the original post, then respond. Most things aren't worth researching, I guess.

Things like suffering reduced bonuses are a big difference to not being paid. If you're being paid yet conditions are poor, then you can at least save money and leave. It seems like a big difference to me.

Additionally it doesn't really matter if Team Bondi folded, Rockstar and Take Two profited from the way that those workers were treated.

As someone who has never played this game, when I saw this rumor pop up, my first thought was, "Isn't that the game that had those work condition problems and messy developer/publisher relationship?" Then I remembered it was the game with the facial mocap tech that is probably dated now. For those associations and not even considering anything regarding the game's quality, I'm surprised Rockstar is revisiting it. But perhaps Rockstar figures the PR mess has faded and perhaps the mocap has been updated/holds up.

I hope some outlets write about it if this game does resurface.

I personally feel that Take Two do not deserve to profit from this game. Industry crunch times and deadlines are hard enough as it is, without the shit that Rockstar and Team Bondi played with LA Noire. People working in this industry deserve better than the way they were treated by these companies, and consumers enthusiastic about the medium should support those workers by ensuring that Rockstar and Take Two do not profit from this game, or its prospective franchise.

Sorry about the double post. It's late and I didn't think.

Would it be hard to convert Android games over to Switch? Rockstar has a nice library of games on Android that I think would be awesome on Switch. GTA 3,Vice, San Andreas, Max Payne and Bully.

OH! Max Payne 1 and 2 with pointer aiming! Damn, I would buy that in a heartbeat. Damn, now I feel like watching the Max Payne movie again.

It is tradition that Nintendo doesn't get popular Rockstar games and this seems to have no been broken yet.

Why android and not the PC versions?

I figured those ports were made to take advantage of widescreen and would have cleaner / HD HUD icons and such. I only have the CD / DVD version of those games on PC so I had no clue if they updated the digital version with the mobile feature or not.

Why do Nintendo systems always get the rereleases that nobody wants. Of course it's gonna sell like shit and after that they're just gonna say "well we tried, no more Switch games for you!".

Umm...okay. This is so random...like literally. L.A Noire is not a game I was thinking about coming back in this 2017 but it's timing seems almost perfect tbh 🤔

Was LA Noire any good? I skipped it when it first came out but I recall it being a magazine cover story...

It was an interesting concept and the investigation/interrogation mechanic was nice enough for a one time playthrough I guess.

All the rest sucked big time. Especially the incredibly generic and redundant sandbox city in which they make you drive around brought the game down big time. It was sooo boring driving around in the empty and soulless husk of LA that there's no reason to ever do so.
Good thing you could let your partner drive and insta-travel to your next destination.

Already finished it on Ps3 when come out, I think it's a fun game, but not incredibile. Anyway a port from Rockstar would be pretty strange to me.

Switch is becoming an antiquidated console already lol.

OK you just didn't bother to read and just went here for LOL NINTENDO LMFAO IT'S 2017 GODAMMIT SWITCH CAN'T CATCH A BREAK LOOOOOL, but, if you had read some of those things that are called words here and there, you'll have learn that the game is a remaster and is also coming on the other platforms.

Then, magically, the perspective changes. Now, the switch has a simultaneous multiplatform release. The game isn't very sexy, but I guess that's that.

It's certainly a strange game to remaster but if it comes out on the PS4 and Xbox One I can kind of understand why.

I might reinstall the PC version, it's a shame it's locked to 30 FPS.

Loved L.A. Noire on the PS3. Would buy again on the Switch if it's not $60. Those facial animations are still pretty damn impressive.

More games need to use the facial scanning.

LA Noire is basically Heavy Rain except it's good and has an interesting story.

Funnily enough I'm the other way round, I enjoyed Heavy Rain a lot whilst LA Noire was nothing but a disappointment and one of the worst games I bought last gen, at full price anyway.

Still if this remaster leads to other Rockstar games appearing on the Nintendo Switch it'll be worth it.

I liked LA Noir but not gonna buy it again on Switch, Rockstar doesn't deserve our money for this, they could have made a GTA V port for Switch instead, it's a Ps3/360 game at its core so i'm sure Switch could manage it with no problems, but they should put more work into that than LA Noir, that's just Rockstar being lazy and trying to make money with less effort as possible, Nintendo fans don't need this

I hope they add a substantial amount of new content. I played the crap out if the game and have little reason to go back.

Phone reception is more important to me than human rights
If we're talking about R* remasters no one asked for, Manhunt would make for more interesting news

Yes indeed.

Imagine the circus if they ported the Wii version since Switch also has motion controls.

You just want to see the world burn....

There is a term to describe that kind of mindset. Let me check my thesaurus...

lol.

One hand, is this is probably the weakest Rockstar game. I would personally prefer a Man Hunt HD collection or Bully 60fps edition. Hell, even Table Tennis if it controls well with the joycons. But if this the Switch is included on the same schedule of the XBOne/PS4 then this shows an amount of support of the system bigger than that of most western developers.

Yup to all this.

Bully was ported to the Wii.

Manhunt 2 was announced for Wii before anything else.

Where's mah Smuggler's Run: Warzones remaster, Rockstar?

300px-Smuggler's_Run-Warzones.jpg

Seems when some try to throw dirt on Rockstar they dont really know the history of their games on Nintendo consoles.

Yea the Wii U didnt get GTA V, the Wii didnt get GTA 4 but damn....there are other games by them not named GTA. That are/were popular.

"Yan2295 helps run the Grand Theft Auto Network France and has been known to leak GTA and Rockstar news in the past."

How exactly is this person still in a job?

Conspiracy theories aside, Rockstar HAS to know that people would double/triple/quadruple dip to have portable GTA 4/5, right? I still haven't played it yet but from what I hear of GTAV, people just can't get enough of it and it's making Rockstar money hand over fist. I'm surprised Rockstar hasn't ported it to anything that can even run it at this point, and I feel like with the reception it's gotten people would buy a Switch just to play it on the go, let alone buy it if they already have the system.

And it came out on PS3 and 360 so it's not like the Switch wouldn't be able to run it, since it's apparently on par with those systems at minimum, if not slightly more powerful?

But since their bread and butter is GTAO maybe it wouldn't be as viable on Switch since we have no effing idea how online will work on it yet.
