Ghost Recon Wildlands Closed Beta Discussion Thread

I sent my friend a code through the site. He gets an email and clicks the link, which brings him to a page where he has to input a code. But he never got a code, just the link. Any ideas?

Pretty sad that even the beta for this has a wayyyy better character customization menu than the division release game. The controls feel so weird, I don't like it. Driving around with the warthog type vehicles is awesome. I like that theres bullet drop too!

Turned all the settings down just so I could play it. Just seems like an even more boring version of Far Cry with a very light semi-tactical leaning to it.

so I wanted to like this game. I was excited as hell, but I didn't really enjoy my first play and I just went back.. and.. it's garbage.

I'm playing on Xbox One and the graphics are awful. Screen tearing, dithering, pop in, it just looks a mess, especially with so much foliage. The fucking beta welcome intro video had screen tearing for fucks sake!

The animations are poor, the lip sync is atrocious, the cars handle like a PS2 budget game.. I just despair.

The map seems like it could be interesting and large, but it's not fun to explore even this little bit. It's dripping in Ubisoft 'collect 1 million things' syndrome, but the AI is easy as hell, the shooting isn't satisfying and the physics suck.. the more I play the more I hate it.

An example of just jank.. I'm off riding my bike down a mountain.. passing through fences as if they are made of styrofoam, the game engine is struggling to keep up with my speed (even at whatever low resolution it's rendering at) and things are popping in everywhere when *boom*.. I am thrown off of my bike and sent soaring miles. Literally miles from where I left my team mates, I am doomed to bleed out at the bottom of a valley. Except not. They magically warp to me and heal me instantly.

Maybe this will be better for final release. I pray it is, because I want an open world Division game. What a shame this is what we got :(

The game is growing on me. Seems like some silly fun. Not super tactical, but still fun.

Really like the graphics - it's not incredible but it does look good and there's so much vegetation, love it.

Performance isn't great even at 1080p on a 980ti with settings turned down a bit I still drop to 50s often.

I'm sure it's much funner in a group and matchmaking has generally been ok though people do go off by themselves sometimes or initiate fights before everyone is in position. Some people like to do it stealthily though, and it's pretty great when that happens.

Quite a lot of bugs though.

Yeah I'm really enjoying my time with this game, Ubi nailed it.

BUT they need to fix the janky movement and the awful dirigibility, it's really bad, like watch_dogs tier.

Also, the matchmaking showing how equal your playstyle is with other players and how many hours you play at the same time with the other ghosts is really rad, every game with matchmaking should show that.

dirigibility? Either thats autocorrect in action or you are making a very nuanced point.

Also, from these impressions it sounds like the allied AI is as bad as I figured from that single player video (which seemed to go out of its way not to show them off all that much).

One question too: If you play with two actual players, do you still have two AI squadmates?

Made Shane Black from Predator. Hopefully my crew and I can make the dudes from Predator. That'd be bad ass running around as the crew.

Not impressed. Feels like 4 player far cry.

Waiting to see what PvP is like but yeah, ewww. Bad motorbike/chopper controls. Cars feel rediculous...

I dunno its fun but not impressed. Just bring GRAW remaster....

I'm having some fun solo but with how useless the AI is, I definitely gotta group up

Weird that parachute is an unlockable skill. At least it's cheap

Ok played some co-op and holy hell this game is rough and janky and kind of incredible because of that. It's just endlessly hilarious to do stuff in because of the jank. And also how self serious the game is, it's fun to break that self seriousness through utter stupidity.

What jank there is outside of veeery weird vehicle behavior? Skyrim horses, but on wheels.

A lot of good fun in coop.

This game is pretty rad. I can totally understand most of the complaints in this thread, but for me it delivers almost everything I hoped for and I'm trying to RP as much as possible.

Stuff like this:

tomclancysghostreconwfaulh.png

I could sprint there or grab a bike and ride there and have my team magically spawn out of my ass when I get off the bike. But instead I decided to walk there, along the edge of the border, over the mountainside. My squad walking with me while the sun slowly sets behind the mountain. It looked awesome. It didn't even take long but this is stuff I with MGSV did better and I'm glad the game delivers.

It's just cool to take a chopper somewhere, drop like 600 meters away from a target area and move your way up there. Scouting the surroundings, observing enemy patterns. I like how most enemies also don't really seem to have a set patrol pattern, a lot seems pretty randomized [within margin of course], which is neat.

I'm having a ton of fun just randomly moving through the area, seeking out weapon parts or rebel supplies.

You may have already solved it, but I had the same issue yesterday. A friend of mine sent me an invite code. I got an email asking me to click the link to accept said invite. I did, but never saw a code.

About an hour or two later, I got the code in a separate email. It was just a straight up PS4 code.

My co-op buddy was constantly floating 5 feet in the air on my end or he was clipped half way into the ground. I randomly was soaking wet out of nowhere. The vehicle stuff. I had one of the transmission towers just straight up not spawn in then when I took a few feet back it appeared. Civilian cars drove right through us while I was reviving him. Enemy bodies freaking out. Lots of little, harmless, funny things like that.

Seems like everyone knows where you are when somebody goes on alert. God that shit is terrible.

No they don't, there is clear delay as alerted reports to rest. Even one being alerted may not know your accurate location. Also you can loose them and flank pursuers.

AI has its obvious flaws, but guards aren't hive mind where everyone knows instantly what anyone else does or sees.

Any videos that might show this in action? Seems to be a few posts here about the AI always magically knowing where you are once they've been alerted.

Not that I'm aware of. Just stating what I witnessed today when playing with Tecnniqe and his friend.

I facepalmed when AI kept walking around same corner one by one, allowing me to kill them to that corner one by one. I was impressed when there was delay between outer guard becoming alerted and inner guards reacting to situation [we got 1 out of 2 patrolling, 2nd took cover and few seconds later rest of base reacted to situation]. Even then it took little more for them to see where fire was coming from. It wasn't 0ns delay instant reaction into knowing with 100% accuracy like it tends to be in games like this.

Also I managed to shake off some guards who were chasing me into bushes, and then picked them off from flank.

AI does need work and awareness improvements, but not to Demigod levels that some say they already have.

Edit: In general I liked that game allows you to use tactics and control situation. Most if not all objective areas had several ways to approach them enabling team to e.g. have 2 flanking while 1 draws enemy attention giving those 2 opening to come in from back for cleanup.

This is a total mess. Unless this is deeply unrepresentative of the game, Ubisoft desperately need to delay this title. Even if I neglect every bug - and I saw some real corkers - the gameplay just feels bad.

The driving is absolutely terrible I really thought we'd got past the point that driving physics could feel that bad in a AAA game.

The gunplay feels terrible due to the awful controls/sensitivity/autoaim.

The AI feels bottom of the barrel, going from all being blind as bats to all being able to see through the back of their heads.

The entire structure of the game just screams Ubibloat Open World.

I'm not going to lie and say I'm a huge Ghost Recon fan... I never was... but I feel even less attraction to this game than any of the previous ones.

Yeah when I was just messing with settings and locked/unlocked FPS and all that I noticed that the distance is really beautiful sometimes, also character reacts to sunlight :D

also rain is kinda cool too

Just need proper driver and SLI support to pump this up towards max setting. GPU am cry right now.

Yeah, there are "alerted" and "in-combat/spotted" modes for the AI.

Alerted they will be moving around and triggers spotted faster when seen, also they seem to be quicker on the trigger in close situations.

Spotted basically means they alert everyone else of spotted players location, if you proceed to move, the AI will keep going to last known location.

At least thats how I've seen it thus far.

A lot of the criticisms I've seen in this thread are legitimate, but outside of the potential technical issues (on PC, for me) and AI issues I think there might be a really compelling gameplay experience here. The amount of silly tactical choices you have really does make it feel like rainbox six meets the division meets far cry, and when you factor in character/weapon customization, world size, etc it seems like there's a core loop that could be really satisfying for the sandbox/mechanics/coop crowd. The first time I shot a sniper rifle and noticed that it had bullet time and falloff was when it hit me that this might be a great combination of tactical mechanics/gunplay and silly open world shenanigans. At this point my biggest concern is whether the world and encounter design has enough depth and dynamism to make the customization/mechanics meaningful - if you can simply headshot everyone from half a mile out and/or let your team kill 95% of the enemies automatically then there won't be much reason to care about progression or mechanics mastery.

That has not been my experience. There might be a small delay but if it's an actual alert phase rather than the blinking suspicion, everyone closes in on you almost instantly. Range is a big factor here though. If you stay at range this becomes less of an issue.

I could actually see myself picking this up on sale or something, even to play solo. I just like going around stealthy capping people.

2 problems at the moment.

1. keybinds, ugh. I haven't gone through all of them, but I already noticed some restrictions (dunno why it's so difficult for some devs to allow rebinding all keys).

2. Performance. Yes it's closed beta, but it's pretty rough right now and makes it difficult to get a good sense of the game when it's dropping and has heavy frametime issues. Even after dropping settings. And this is with a 6700k and 1070.

This game is fucking incredible.

Feels like Ghost Recon 2 + MGSV +CO-OP

For the record I haven't even touched co-op, the AI dudes seem to do just fine but they don't do much besides get in vehicles, shoot stuff, and revive you.

If you're at an enemy camp and give the squad the "fire" command they go fucking ham. I appreciate how squadmates actually take down enemies, as opposed to "fake" shootouts where the player has to do everything himself.

Is there any way to let an AI squadmate drive or fly anywhere after setting a waypoint? I want to ride shotgun and watch the view instead of control the vehicle all the time.

Pretty much what I think. I was day one before the beta but now I dont think I'll buy it at all. It just doesnt feel even remotely good to play.

I hope the other zones are more populated than this beta zone. This is just a huge empty zone.....

So huge that it's 4% of whole map :b

But yeah, it's very backdropish and just connecting tissue between 6 missions.

For me game went from "Eh, full skip" to "Hmm, maybe I should"

I may have missed something but whenever I tried to get the AI to drive they'd just sit there

Even in the helicopters if u fly up and switch seats it'll just start to go out of control and plummet, nobody jumps into the drivers seat

Alternatively when going downhill just drive off the cliff. Nothing will happen when you land at the bottom.

Yep, I've done that too several times.

I tried Co-Op earlier. My team were all different ends of the map triggering different missions so I could hear the audio for their missions when I wasn't near them. When I started teleporting to them, they were playing it as a first person shooter, throwing grenades etc.

Yeah 99% of streamers playing it like a straight up shooter GTA typa game. Hurts my head how they get wrecked on easy like this.
How does that code begging thread have like 20 pages and this only five?

More people that want in than talk about the beta :D

I kind of like it,mainly because it's funny but also because you can just drive straight at way points and not have to use the dodgy dodgy steering...:)
