Q: are all new games required to have PS4 pro benefits, or are they simply required to be PS4 pro compatible?

They have to be have a PS4 Pro mode, it's up to the devs what this contains.

They are all taking turns logging into the same PSN (a dummy one someone set up), which then gives them access to the firmware.

I think it's also a reaction to Scorpio which will most likely also offer upgrades to bone games, just to a bigger degree.
Bone games start lower and will see a bigger boost as Scorpio is even more powerful than the pro.
It wouldn't put a good light on the pro if Scorpio can do it and the pro doesn't and now they even made it possible before Scorpio launch. Clever.

That sounds about right. I'm just curious if anyone has run into any bugginess where it's flipped off and yet it still seems like it's pushing the boost. Just don't want to get sucked into hyper drive Yakuza 0 and not be able to jump out. I got into the beta just haven't messed around with boost yet so after hearing the Yakuza stuff I'm a little apprehensive.


Good to hear. I'll have to pop boost mode on and try it for myself. Just didn't want to flip it on for a bit and have it mess with any beatdown goodness.

I've had no issues with boost mode and yakuza 0. Runs perfectly now and with no screen tearing or frame drops. Nothing to worry about! Just feels so much smoother to even control and move the camera around. Quicker load times too. Feels like a new graphics card.

No, it is not. You can use code from a friend, but you will not have access to PS Beta Forum thread.

I don't think localisation works like that. Especially from atlus usa and you are getting dual audio at launch don't forget

Division had a Pro patch, so this firmware update won't do anything to help it. It'll only work on games that have no Pro patches.

People keep saying that, has that been confirmed?.....Not all pro patches are significant and I can still see some pro patched games getting framerate boosts.

Yeah, games like racer revenge and bounty hunter could get a nice boost in framerate, but I'd love improvements to IQ in these games. (Resolution, AF, AA) being the major three....places they should concentrate. If the games could get proper widescreen resolutions, that would be so swell....

The E3 when the PS4 launched shows they pay attention to the competition.

Any company should pay attention to the competition. That's part of how you compete. Best believe Apple has been and still is paying attention to Google and Samsung.

Bloodborne has better framerate but same framepacing issues. Witcher 3 is a lot smoother now.

Played Marvel Ultimate Alliance with Boost Mode. It was a shitty port that now runs smooth as hell (locked 60fps). The loading times are especially funny. They went from 10s to 3s-5s lol

Picked up a 2nd hand copy of Just Cause 3 today on lunch as I've never played it and it seems boost mode makes it better. Will find out shortly! Just the normal version so I don't know if anything the DLC introduces is more framerate taxing than the base game. I heard in general it runs like a dog even when patched.
