I'm okay with those terms from Activision. You have to secure your investment especially after all the shit that Destiny 1 went through with the story changing last minute, and the delays with the expansions.

Some new news from Jason

Shipping another half-assed game confirmed. Please buy the actual game over the course of 2 years after for another $100 bucks. I'll probably wind up with a copy because every human I know will own it, but my hype is zero, along with my faith in Bungie.

Always wildly entertaining to see how severely out of touch some of you are when it comes to the business side of things ;)

Super stoked this is happening. Whenever they confirm a date I basically don't need another game during the first few months after its release.

500+ hours easy on original Destiny.

Beards confirmed too for new character creation. Woot!

What was that? Three sentences of Destiny? Not more than expected, but he said "this year" like three times.

Nothing useful said about Destiny 2 in the main part of the call outside of confirming a strong post launch support plan.

Q&A soon.

How do you even come to that conclusion? Acti allowed Bungie to delay the game for a whole year so they could add more content. These are just contract negotiations that both sides agreed to.

And they managed to put out a giant open world games in a little over a year.

Destiny 2 is 3 years of dev time. 2 years for main team which moved to it just after The Taken King

I am not concerned about the lack of content in D2, they have delayed the game by 12 months, I think they're planning a lot of content

Yeah but with your posts that doesn't say anything other than you have no idea what your talking about. There's nothing saying it's going to be rushed.

They found their footing around 2015 but then lost it again in 2016.
They never lost it. Rise of Iron was a fantastic expansion.

I could have sworn there were rumours about Activision pushing destiny 1 early which did lead to dev problems though. I don't want the same thing again.

And even Destiny is on loan.

Yep. At the end of the agreement, Bungie can walk with the Destiny IP, and self publish or go elsewhere.

edit: and the "we get a piece of your assets if you don't deliver" is in pretty much every video game contract. And non-gaming contracts. It's basic collateral.

Obviously kidding about the confirmed part but why wouldn't this be a red flag? Bungie isn't going to turn over stock or influence if they don't have to. They're sure as fuck pushing the game out to meet whatever deadline they need to for their benefit. The first one proved they won't be punished for pushing out an unfinished game anyway, so there's no reason to give them the benefit of the doubt and just assume everything will work out perfectly.

Even given the extra year, I'm skeptical of how much content the game ships with. I'm not sure if anything besides the extra time that should make someone confident in D2.

Destiny is one of my favourite, and my most playedgame ever. I'm in day 1. Will not disappoint, as long as they don't change everything about it.

They just said they're releasing the Destiny sequel this year, in the call, one again. It feels like it's really coming this year. I wonder when Bungie will start to talk about it.
