Competition at work! Just saw this over the Verizon thread and it seems worthy of its own thread.

  • T-Mobile One now includes HD video instead of just SD video
  • Hot Spot / Mobile Sharing is now 10GB per line high-speed, and then unlimited slower speed, instead of just slower speed hotspot sharing
  • All taxes and fees still included in the advertised price
  • Everyone currently with T-Mobile One gets this starting Friday
  • New deal to get 2 lines of T-Mobile One for $100 instead of $120 starting this Friday

This is in addition to what customers already got with the plan, like unlimited usage of your data plan in Canada and Mexico, and free 1 hour of GoGo in-flight texting and data on any flight.

My wife and I are currently on T-Mobile's plan they advertised just over a year ago - $100 for 2 lines with 10GB of high-speed data for each, 7GB tethering, unlimited talk and text, and unlimited usage in Mexico and Canada. But that's $100 + taxes and fees, rather than including the taxes and fees.

We'll definitely be switching to this, saving $10-20 on taxes and fees.

About to switch to T Mobile this week.Throttling video was a major thing holding me back, so glad Verizon decided to compete.

So for the 2 lines for $100, does that deal extend to more lines?

So would 3 lines be $120 and 4 lines $140, or would it stay at $140 and $160.

I updated the OP since I stated the Mobile Hotspot stuff wrong.

It looks like as of last August, Mobile Hotspot on T-Mobile One was "unlimited", but it was pretty slow unlimited hotspot data:

That’s why T-Mobile is eliminating data buckets and quadrupling mobile hotspot speeds. Now, T-Mobile ONE mobile hotspot data speeds will be 3G (up from 128kbps to 512kbps) for everyone.

Now it sounds like you get 10GB of high-speed hotspot data, and then after that it'll revert to the slower hotspot data the plan used to have.

Anything happening for One Plus subscribers? I actually just bought a T-Mobile phone and I was trying One Plus for a month or two.

Thank you competition. And with that, I will be moving over to the new unlimited pan instead of the one that I'm grandfathered into that is more expensive and has 5GB of LTE hotspot data.

This sounds like the plan I wanted T-Mobile One to be in the first place. Hadn't switched from my limited data plan because the T-Mobile One was more expensive, I'm not a super-heavy data user, and the 3G mobile hotspot thing was bullshit. At $100 for two lines with 10GB of LTE hotspot I might bite.

my god, i've been with verizon for like 15 years, and was about to abandon ship before verizon came out over the weekend with unlimited.

then tmobile came out with this. my head hurts from the whiplash.

edit: my 2 year contract came off 3 days ago, and as a stopgap, i'm on the 5gb plan with verizon for 55 dollars (comes out to like 60 bucks with company discount and taxes) debating whether i'll use more than that data considering i've been on a 2gb plan for 2 years and never went over it by being insane with wifi. this one month will be a good test since i've been waiting for a new phone from the conference at the end of feb.

I'm hoping there is a 3 line special beyond the $140 option. I really just need 2 smartphones + 1 flip/dumb phone. Or perhaps is there a dumb-phone addition that we could add to the $100 two-line special that would be cheaper than going to the full $140 three-line option?

I'd be switching from my AT&T grandfathered plan which recently went up by another $10. So the T-mobile plan is sounding enticing.

The one thing holding me back from T-Mobile One was the SD video. I like my videos HD, but now I wonder if this will be cheaper than my plan that came before T-Mobile One

I mean, I'm happy with T-Mobile and won't go back to Verizon anytime soon, but that bullet point is a crock.

Hmm...kind of tempted to switch from AT&T. I feel like I'm paying an arm and a leg for 20GB shared data for 4 people. It'd be like $20 less to switch and have relatively unlimited data for everyone.

Verizon international data at 10 bucks a day is niiiice though. When you're overseas an using maps and stuff, 2g is awfully, awfully slow.

But buying 500mb for 50 bucks also isn't the best either.

T-Mobile could improve there. Really like the rest though.

I'm grandfathered from like 35 years ago on simple choice.

Paying $112 for three lines with 2.5gb LTE, includes binge on.

Is it worth it to move to $120 TMo one unlimited?

If you want to pay $10/day for better data service while you are in another country, I imagine there's an option for you. Free 2G is better than nothing.

Right now I'm still on the old T-Mobile $100 for 4 lines = includes Unlimited Talk & Text, Free overseas texting & roaming, 2.5 GB per line. Unlimited streaming (in standard definition) I think they call it Binge On.

Should I switch to this new one?

* $100 is before taxes and fee which probably is around $120 when you get to the end.

When I got my T-Mobile line, I got the $80 unlimited plan. Unlimited talk, text, and data.

Then they started rolling in new features for me, such as they increased my hotspot GB limit and I can also call Mexico and Canada for free. T-Mobile has done good by me.

I have 3 unlimited lines + 1 mobile hotspot with 6GB data for $100 on TMobile. Got on during a sale period, never switching plans.

I'm in the old 2 unlimited lines for $100. With these changes, are they any different now, other than this new deal being a bit cheaper because it includes taxes?

I don't use mobile hotspot or any of that.

I Just want unlimited text/web. I have 2 lines costing me about 200$ a month atm with TMobile and have alwys felt like i'm getting robbed.

Hm? TMobile One seems great for you, then? Two lines on TMobile One, which is unlimited everything (possible throttling after about 28GB), would be $120/month for you including taxes.

For people considering switching, T-Mobile is also offering $150/line you port over. It's a limited offer and i'm not sure how long they'll keep it. I'm waiting till next weekend to switch, hopefully they keep it till then.
