Nier Automata Steam Page/Pre-Order Live, releasing March 17th

Fun fact: Metal Gear Rising is STILL not available in Asia/SEA. I don't know what's wrong with Platinum Games. The only way to get MGR is to use a VPN and activate a steam code purchased from a 3rd party store. Ridiculous! This is why piracy is rampant in SEA.

Guess NiER would be the same

It's super annoying that MGR is available on sale for $5 in every other part of the world but SEA.

Btw I wouldn't use a VPN to activate a steam code, in the off chance you get caught you could get blacklisted. My account is really too precious to have anything happen to it.

Also to add to your point about piracy, it is rampant because people can't afford games here. When the minimum wage is Rm1000 and most people are on RM2000-3000 per month spending rm250 on a game is really for the diehards only.

To continue my whining about SE regional pricing: Atelier Firis' preorder also came up on Steam today.

They're both $60 games.
Thanks for sharing. I will just preorder Atelier to show my appreciation of S. Enix thorough world wide release.

Atelier Firis vs Nier regional price difference for Turkey. Nier 54$, Firis 24$.

I say to fuck off SE, will support TK. (hope for good port)

Fuck this shit, no reason it shouldn't be on sale in SEA.

There is (mostly) no reason at all to lock games, especially Nier. With Naruto, One Piece, Attack on Titan or so you might understand, because different publishers might hold the rights in Asia.

But Nier...
Whats the reason they kill their biggest (potential) market?

Yeah, I get the practicalities of licencing in different territories for the games you mentioned, but from a principled standpoint there's no reason why I shouldn't be able to buy a piece of software in 2017 because of the country I'm in.

And that's not even talking about Nier, which frankly has zero reason to!

Square Enix always finds a way to turn satisfaction into bitterness. Even when they have a game which by most accounts is one of the best action RPGs of its class ever, and even when the PC release of the game is mere weeks after the console release, there's some way some how that they'll make some fans feel like they got kicked in the balls.

BASED SQUARE ENIX!

I don't know if SE has a deal with Sony, but my Asian copy has a "Published by Sony" logo on its disk. Maybe it's that?

I'm kind of annoyed to hear that it's apparently locked at 1080p 60fps. The frame rate lock isn't the worst but I really hope there's a way around the resolution cap.

It's seriously 1080p locked?

That would be incredibly stupid. I mean, not even K-T does that anymore.
Mostly.

Nier is not AAA (and FS17 price is also bullshit 😳)

Come on, that's a stupid ass thing to say. It's okay to feel that the price is not competitive, but saying that the game is "not AAA" when compared to stuff like Dark Souls 3 and Civilization 6?

Locked to 1080p on pc would be funny considering it's like 1600p or something on ps4 pro.

Edit: I might be thinking of another game actually, been watching a lot of digital foundry lately.

I'm going off of this video which is the only source I've found for that information. They pretty firmly state that the PC version will "use the same specs as PS4."

Edit: I should mention that this video is from the middle of 2016, so things might have changed.

I don't believe so it'd be kinda weird for them to go backwards on resolutions when they've offered 4k before. I question more if they'll finally implement arbitrary resolution support into their engine finally instead of having a manual list of them to choose from.

I'd hope so, but 3840x2160 support is around the level where I don't care enough to try and add higher resolutions. As long as you can also inject decent AA that is.

Well you can inject SGSSAA into MGR and Korra from my experience so I imagine that'd be just fine never tried to do it with Transformers since I played it away from home on my laptop but I imagine it uses the same bit as the former two.

Ughh, if this game is locked to 1080p, I'll completely pass on it like all the Koei Tecmo and Bandai games I've skipped due to this idiotic oversight. Have more than enough games to play as is, I don't need to support sub-par PC ports.

Bought on Humble. I set £50 aside for it and wound up paying £36 with my Humble Monthly discount, so I'm happy!

MGR and Korra are DX9, I can't imagine Automata is though, so no SGSSAA.

Look up a trader via Steam trades etc. Some of them may be offering the ROW ver. of the game.
EDIT: Yeah saw some offering it for around USD 47. If mods are OK with it, I can link to the steam trades page.
