I'm curious to think what would people think about it if Zelda isn't available for launch. It seems that's the only thing holding this tech afloat.
It would be virtual boy style of dead.
Now it will be Wii u style dead no big difference

The screen getting scratched due to the dock is a terrible flaw if true, and yeah they should have the screen protected without you having to buy it additionally.
Press ignore button if you take critizing a video game company to this heart.jesus christWe get it already. You hate Nintendo and you hate the switch. Every fucking thread you post in. Its the same shit
Yeah without any significant third party support its kinda doa. On the positive hopefully Nintendo will just make software after the switch bombs and waay more people will enjoy there games on sony/ms consoles. It would be virtual boy style of dead.

OP, it seems the worst thing about the Switch seems to be its fanbase. Holy hell at some of the replies in the thread, some people are straight up acting like children in here just to defend a console.
I don't own one but some of the points you bring up sound quite bad, my wife and kids are going back to Japan this summer and they're planning to get one (as the price is not so high in Japan, they removed région lock and by that time there will be more games than just Zelda) but I'm definitely weary about some of these issues. The screen getting scratched due to the dock is a terrible flaw if true, and yeah they should have the screen protected without you having to buy it additionally.
I puked reading the first page. I can pull up 50 negative PS4 related threads and they don't have the amount of defensiveness combined that this first page has alone.
This is my first Nintendo console since the NES and I was mislead on many aspects, but the lack of an online presence is shocking. You can see your friends online but that's it..no messaging at all. When's this bloody app coming out? It's embarrassing. Vitas online is better.
You can't message friends at all? Didn't know that... crazy.
Uh. I've tried two Switches and 6 JoyCon total.
There's no form of messaging whatsoever. Even friend requests don't have any message in them like "so and so from gaf"
I haven't even opened mine because I'm just rethinking it. The OP has valid points and Nintendo fans sure are deflecting. It just doesn't look good imo going forward...
Wii U had a lot more right than the Switch does, and it still failed. Here's the launch list:

Wii U failed for a number of reasons that you are just shrugging off, not because of the lack of features it launched with. Care to discuss vice driveby criticism and the same Nintendo defense you give every thread?
I say this as someone who's been playing Zelda nonstop on the Switch before you throw that card.
Mr. Trump is it you?OP is right! A lot of you try to defend it but if you are honest you know this console lacks a lot for the money you pay for it.
Nintendo isnt evolving and holds on to the past! Shame.
All of the criticisms in the OP are enough for me to just wait until there's a price drop and then I'll think about getting one.
While the Joy-Con and screen scratching issues may only happen with a small number of units those are serious enough issues for me to not be in any rush to pick up a Switch. I simply don't want to deal with the possibility of those issues happening.
Over time I'm losing patience for the typical Nintendo problems that we've come to accept and generally hand wave away. I love and adore their games, but their hardware is getting more and more annoying to deal with. Friend codes were extremely annoying back in 2005 and Mario Kart DS, it's certainly not any more acceptable in 2017. So until the price drops to something more affordable then I'm happy to wait.
The concept of the Switch is certainly appealing and it is attempting to be that dream device that we've all wanted. The execution appears to be a compromised vision of the all-in-one device we've all wanted though. I just fear that it's a jack of all trades, master of none situation. The short battery life doesn't make it a great handheld. I think you could argue its actual physical size also makes it less ideal as a handheld gaming device. As a home console it's barely more powerful than a Wii U. The Joy-Cons don't seem like the best controllers, investing in the expensive Pro controller seems like a strong suggestion for people who plan to use the Switch mostly as a home console. The online infrastructure sounds like a complete mess and the fact that they're now asking for money (even if it's ~$30/year) is unbelievable considering what we know about it so far and their past efforts.
For me personally this is an underwhelming console and it's just not done enough to impress me. I don't see this getting anywhere close to Wii levels of success. Certainly seems like it should do better than the Wii U, but is that really saying much?
Mostly year old ports and shovelware are what people want now from a console launch?
...
Completely agreed but you will not get any good discussion yet. Try again in 4 years or when the next Nintendo console is announced, that is usually when the numerous flaws of their previous work are admitted.
People take this stuff really personally which I will never comprehend. Like for example I like the Playstation 4 but if you asked me to criticize parts of it, I would at length instead of saying "nuh uh, it is perfect!".

Wow, has anyone made a compilation of the OP's posts regarding the switch? Trolling is accepted now? The guy is butthurt about anything Nintendo.
I didn't see this much vitriol when the PS4 launched missing most of the features that the Switch is also missing

Gimmick
It's touted that the Switch comes with two controllers out of the box. Now that I and many of you have experienced it firsthand, there's no way it's more than a novelty. It's just not very comfortable nor is it practical for games with deep meaningful experiences and it's even more frustrating that this was the reason Nintendo removed the d-pad. No one will ever be able to comfortably play a title like The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, Splatoon 2, or Ultra Street Fighter II: The Final Challengers with a single Joy-Con. HD Rumble will go down as this generations power of the cloud; it's cool but forgettable
I wish Ninty would improve online cause people will be paying for that in the next few months.

This is the biggest sticking point for me personally. Couldn't give a stuff about web browsers (although a Youtube app would be handy). Especially now that they're charging for it. They realllly need to hit it out of the park with the VC and infrastructure. This rubbish with the smartphone app needs to be ditched in a hurry as well
What a stupid thread title. I get that not everyone is happy with it but it's far too early to label it a failure. I love my Switch, despite some shortcomings.
Wait till Pokemon and Fire Emblem hit; people will go nuts.
OP posts a pretty comprehensive summary of the console's shortcomings as of now, all of which seem fair IMHO.
You post a threadcrap, not addressing any points and instead just calling the OP butthurt.
Who's the troll again?
