Well this is nice. I bought my Pro on Saturday (First time they've been in stock on Amazon UK since they released!) so this is a nice welcome. Looking forward to BEAST MODE for sure.

On an unrelated note, have we had a date for the "story fix" patch for FFXV yet? I don't want to start it until that's all done and dusted.

Finally!

Now please add a option to disable pro patches so I might be able to play Skyrim without it being a fucking mess, you know, after I paid my money for it. Yet there is my son with an ordinary ps4 loving some smooth buttery loveliness. :-(

Thanks.

/rant.

Really looking forward to this update regardless :)

Settings --> Devices --> PlayStation VR --> PlayStation VR Device Software
Interestingly, when I read about VR firmware 2.4 and tried this, it reported "the device firmware is up to date" for me - on 2.0 mind you, and the device was connected and turned on! But immidiately after that I tried to watch a 3D Blu-ray, and it reported the update as available.
so it is not automatic?
It is automatic, but maybe you can trigger it a little earlier with above function.
I hope boost mode stays in.
There is no reason to leave it out, reports feature extremely few if any problems, and it would raise a giant shitstorm if it was missing.

I'm going to enjoy playing Bloodborne and GTA V in boost mode, GTA Online was unplayable for me at a constant sub 30 fps in free roam.

Yes... I've recently bought a PS VR with the prospect of 3D movie support as one of the main reasons. Can't wait to pop in a 3D bluray tomorrow.

My firstvwas star wars TFA (im in the beta) and it was mindblowing. Rember to set screen size to big!!

Boost mode has been super legit for me anyway. It was a pretty significant difference playing Yakuza 0 before I had the patch and after.

GerAlt-Right. Ciriously.
If you're worried about stuttering from an external HDD just do what I do and have the games you are currently playing on your main drive, which in my case is a 480GB SSD.

Problem solved.

It actually works wonders for the Witcher 3.

My number one wanted feature is for the psvr breakout box to go into standby like it used to :(

That's a weird one. I had the same issue start when the most recent update happened (it was fine before that for me)

The only thing that solved it for me was initializing the system.

There's something going on there that is sending the signal that the PS4 is still downloading...even when it isn't and there's nothing on the download list. It may be a specific game causing the issue but I was unable to find which one.

what's beast mode?

That's a cutesy fan name for the Boost Mode feature coming in this update.

It's a toggle in System Settings that lets non-Pro-enabled games have access to (most) of the improved hardware in the Pro for potential better performance and loading times.

So a game targeting 30fps or 60fps might reach that target more often.

But it won't make a 30fps game (e.g. Bloodborne) suddenly reach 60fps, as that 30fps lock is hardcoded into the game.

An unlocked fps game might reach closer to 60fps though.

Here's hoping they fix the slow ass share button on the Pro.

Are you talking about how screenshots are taken like half a second after you press the button?

If so, that is an issue on the original PS4 as well, and yes, it's very annoying.
