Maybe I'm confused what you mean by "obvious", but people thought it was going to be Paulie until we were on the train most of the way to Enies Lobby and Franky started helping the SH
Once Franky fully design was revealed the deal was. I also remember the straw hats vs CP9 color page included Franky.

Thanos acquires the fully powered Infinity Gauntlet in The Avengers: Infinity War, but loses when all the superheroes team up together to stop him.

Man this really was the peak of the series, art style and all.

And yeah, I remember that poster basically confirming Franky joining.

Edit: Sanji is wearing his Water 7 clothes here... wtf? This is what he wore at EL:

As far as "instant this person must join" the people that got that was Zoro, Nami, Chopper, and Brook. Usopp they became friends first, Zeff asked Luffy to take Sanji though he was looking for a cook anyway, Robin and Franky is obvious.

Regarding Alabasta, Robin was not obvious imo

Robin had enigma and direct interaction with the entire crew around her the first time she appeared, including the explicitly stated mystery of how she got her high bounty at the age of 8, and was shown to have a lot of other questions about her as she had more and more screen time. Also, her facial design was unique and unlike any other female character in the series.

Plan is coming together. Wonder how long it will take for something to go wrong lol
Chopper and Carrot have pulled their weight this arc just by capturing Brulee. Curious to see what the deal with the Carmel picture is. Pudding at the end was funny.

I am a little nervous that the plan kicks off with Sanji needing to dodge a bullet. What can go wrong seems to happen to him this arc.

The gun shot is the trigger to both plans, something very well could go wrong before or during the kiss.

Luffy doesn't seem all in on Carrot from what little interaction they've had in the manga or even the anime, where they've had more time together. On the plus side she hasn't asked to join yet and be rejected and he knows her name. On the other hand he didn't have that instant this person must join type of thing. Now maybe she'll ask to hang on after this business is done, or maybe she'll just be around for the next few years on account of not meeting with anyone to take her back home/take her on as a crewmember. She might hitch a ride with Pedro/Pekoms after all this or join the Sun Pirates or something.

I'm guessing she'll be an unofficial crew member staying on the Sunny for quite some time before rejoining the Dukes.

Remember Robin, who just sort of asserted herself onto the crew, in a way oddly reminiscent of how Carrot did (wander out of the cabin unexpectedly after they left an island).

Robin had the her talk with Cobra that made clear that she had way more to offer.

Definitely true. I'm just rebutting the idea that Luffy needs to be eager about someone joining, or the whole "ask, refuse, join" pattern. Robin just sort of showed up and said she was going with them and Luffy said "sure."

I do agree Oda's got to give us some sort of underlying hook before she becomes prime crew material. But i agree with the line of reasoning that suggests she has to be here for a reason. Oda likes randomness, but doesn't introduce characters who hang around for an extended time for no reason, and that's where we're at with Carrot right now.

It hurts seeing that old Franky. His design is the roughest for me because we go from a guy with a ton of movement to him looking like he can barely move.

People seem to be confusing what I meant. It's obvious in how they weren't instant "they're joining" from Luffy because they were both enemies to start.

You know we really got the next two arcs laid out for us. Out of those two(wano and reviere) what are you guys expecting from the latter?

I assume the strawhats will be a hot topic especially since it's happening immediately after the dressrosa incident which Fuji revealed to the world

Also vivi about to show the two cry babies what being a princess is all about

So hype for Reverie, hope it lives up to this hype.

Cobra bringing up the poneglyphs.
Fishmen requesting to move to the surface.
Strawhats being talked about somehow for sure.

I feel like there will have to be some sort of interruption or something that'll happen...maybe Blackbeard or one of his henchmen I should say.

Does cobra kick the bucket there I wonder?
I completely forgot about the fishmans request...that's really dangerous tho I wonder what the negotiations for that will be.

Idk about Blackbeard tho, the revs? I think they'll do it

Come on, nothing is lower than Rebecca.
lol I know

I wonder what sort of Scooby Doo-antics will ruin their plans.

Maybe it's the Vinsmoke family; they're walking into this trap a little too easily.

Also i think Carrot will come along wherever she wants to. She would like to see the giant kingdom and i can see Oda bringing up the whole rabbit on the moon thing from japanese folklore. And Carrot would be so into getting to the moon, and space adventures are definitly on the table.

It's obviously not set in stone, but I think Pudding will be done with after this arc (at least for the foreseeable future) and Carrot will still be with the crew in Wano.

Even if the plan does manage to succeed, I don't think the crew will be leaving in the conventional way. Aren't there still scout ships who'll shoot down trespassers? I doubt that BM will leave Totland defenseless during the wedding. Bege might be able to scrape by before the scouts find out about his betrayal, but would he really feel any need to save Luffy?

Jyabura had such a cool design and fruit but was by far the most annoying/least interesting CP9 member
