Mass Effect: Andromeda |OT| Ryders on the Storm

Despite the jank and some seriously questionable design decisions, the game is starting to click with me. It is Mass Effect. I'm probably 7 hours or so in.

I agree, im loving if despite its technical bugs, the crew is fantastic, drak and peebee in particular and im starting to feel as familiar with the tempest as i felt with the normandy. Its just great to be playing a mass effect game again. Mark
Meer, as much as i liked his voice felt very limited with sheaperd, the guy who voices ryder feels like he has a lot more range, where he can be belivably sarcastic and at points legitimatley funny.

I definately dont like the woman complaining about her tired face.

Shes rude. She should be happy im here. I didnt ask you to be my mom. I was just like hey are with my dad? And shes on this planet, it took 600 years to get there, this doesnt make sense.

Eh, well I went with Sara. Go through the first part of the game. It's got jank but it's Mass Effect alright. Combat is really fun. I think I might wait a few patches before jumping in. Hoping to see some good fixes all around.

Yep... this is definitely clicking with me now. The gameplay systems in place for you are fun to tinker with, like mods on your weapons and armor, being able to build around Tech and Biotic skills, etc. I'm still on Eos, but I can already tell you can make a broken OP ass character with the mods you can research and put into your weapons, as well as the stat bonuses from certain armor pieces. Can't wait to Charge and melee my way to victory with a build I have in mind with shield regeneration, couple that with a slick phase dash to add that boss status dodge.

Every time I go to do strike missions it keeps saying im offline but im obviously not since I can play mp. Is this a bug or am I doing something wrong?

Also, I never again want to play a sci-fi game with "ruins from an ancient vanished superior alien race that must be figured out centuries later" trope. This is so played out at this point.

It wouldn't be so bad if the central premise of the original trilogy wasn't focused on these precursor civilizations. Protheans, Reapers, Leviathans.

Just went through maybe a 40 minute combat section and died only for the checkpoint to be before anything even happened, done for the night lol

I'm having fun with the single Player so far, no real complaints there. Multiplayer has been a bit of a mess, with lag spikes, crashes, and getting kicked offline.

Also found an annoying bug, start an Apex Mission from the Strike Team menu and select Multiplayer, then fail, and then try to assign a strike team to it. The strike team window fails to proceed and kicks you offline.

Also, is there a place to store items that you don't need but don't want to sell?

It's a shame there isn't a dialogue option to punch her in her tired face.

Same. After placing my first outpost(scientific) on Eos, the game is becoming more enjoyable deeper I get into it.

Edit: also, why does it sound like drunken people are rabbling in the background of the Eos outpost?

Downloaded EA trial on XB1. Game is fun but performance is woeful, I mean jesus the framerate is terrible. I would buy it for the PRO but not if it performs similarly. May have to wait for patches before buying, definitely want to play it though.

Okay, this becomes a completely different and better game once you leave Eos. Actually starts to feel like Mass Effect.

Outside of the animation problems we all knew about, I really enjoy the game as a whole with about 10 hours in across sp & mp. I am enjoying the slower pace of the story as well which I didnt think I would.

Are you supposed to do APEX multiplayer missions by yourself? Whenever I make a lobby, nobody ever matchmakes in (yes it's public).

Is anyone else not able to connect online? I keep getting a network error connection in game and I was never able to connect to the multiplayer. I even forwarded the ports EA suggests. I had no luck what so ever. Anyone know a fix or are their servers just terrible?

This is what a lot of the feedback said before the game and trial was out.

I'm not that far yet myself though.

I don't know that disappointed covers it. Disbelief would be more accurate. I literally spent the rest of the night playing multiplayer instead because I couldn't muster any interest in advancing the plot.

Playing more of the multiplayer, I've come to the conclusion that this is a highly tactical game where you NEED 3 other competent teammates to be worth a single shit, even on Bronze difficulty (the easiest difficulty there is). I can't roll with that. I'm still enjoying the single player and am on Eos or whatever but I'm definitely taking this back to Red Box tomorrow and picking up Horizon: Zero Dawn again since I didn't get too far in that before returning it.

Maybe further down the line once the hardcore players are still grinding out the co-op it'll be better but for now, most random teammates are brain dead and don't understand that not every wave is "Survival." Yeah, those "Device" waves? Those require effort.

No, the problem is that no one has any gear at the moment unless they paid for it or poop-socked the game all day. There's also the fact that with randoms, no one is willing to use consumables because it feels like a "waste" to use them.

Maybe there will be an exploit like in ME3 that will allow people to farm credits quickly. lol

Wow, my dude's sister came out GREAT. I'm really happy with her, animation included

Wow, listening to the bombcast and they really don't like this game.

Not that the criticism is not valid, most of is very valid, but the game released at the worst possible time (right after Horizon and BotW) in what is probably the worst possible state, aside from not running. And all those issues are just magnified in the face of those games. Even if all the polish in the world was on it, it would only have gotten into the high 80's.

What's really annoying is that the gameplay is fun, a good portion of the characters are clicking now, and the plot is serviceable. I'm enjoying it, its just in spite of the other issues.

My third attempt at Sara Ryder + a bonus pic of Papa Ryder.

She still looks a little off at certain angles when she's talking. I'm not sure if it's the just the game's jankiness or if it's because I messed something up in the CC. Anyways. I'll give the CC one last try to see if I can come up with something better. But if I'm not able to, then I'lll just stick with this one.

You wouldn't think gear would affect the easiest difficulty in a regular game but this is EA and has micro transactions so, welp, get on finding out those glitches ME:A community! Nobody wants to spend a dime on your bullshit to stand a chance on the EASIEST difficulty.

Well thats all well and good, but if its full of filler stuff like from DAI (which is widely reported) then I have no interest to 100% it. I was hoping for a large fleshed out story

It should still be 20-30 hours if you ignore the open world busy work. Personally I like to play my games on the hardest difficulty so I almost never just run through the main quest, but in games like Inquisition and Andromeda it's certainly something a lot of people ought to do to keep enjoying the game. Open world bloat just isn't that fun, it's 90% potatoes and 10% meat.

I actually did not mind DAI, but didnt do much of the filler stuff. Just a bit shocked to hear its that short. Guess I will find out for myself tommorow.

25% shields when an enemy dies
30% shields when an enemy affected by annihilation dies [which is every enemy within a 5m radius]
50% shields on biotic charge [4s cooldown]
25% shields on melee attack

I have nova set to have no cooldown, but it drains 75% of my shields, see where I'm going with this?

It was basically like this in ME3 to be honest. I forgot how insane the loot system can be, because you basically need 10 copies of each card to fully level up everything, and there isn't anyway to choose what you want other than to exhaust the pool of available cards by grinding out basic packs.
I'm still annoyed that I have to grind for an Asari and I keep getting the Salarian Infiltrator.
