Football Thread 2016/17 |OT| Mou Money Mo Pogba

Sucks but I don't care.

Obviously nothing against Monaco but it simply was no fair competition. Then add the bad ref from the first game and we never had a chance.

I'll be honest : Bürki ist sub-par. He was the best keeper in the league while playing for Freiburg but in Dortmund's dress, he is a liability.

Dortmund pulled a Mainz tonight. A very bad game that was. Tuchel and Watzke must now ask themselves the right questions.

Well played Monaco, they really took advantage of the good situations they got.

Honestly outside of Monaco, the other 3 teams have just as many chances of winning/losing against each other. As much as I like Monaco I don't think they're quite on the same level as said 3 teams, even if I enjoy the way they play the most out of them all.

We will have one semi-final worthy of an actual final regardless of how the draw ends up so that should be fun :)

Monaco is the favorite, by far the most dangerous dark horse there is. They are the only one that has got nothing to lose.

Eh, I'd love to see them win it all but like I said, I don't think they're quite there yet. However, with the way play (always looking to score a goal, even if it means the defense suffer a bit) and if Jardim manages to convince the team that any and all pressure will be on whoever their opponent is, they may indeed do the "impossible" :)

Who knows, time will tell!

The only con I see against Monaco is that they always faced teams with mickey mouse defenders, if they get Atletico no way they can score goals like the ones in R16 and QF. On the other hand both Juve and Atletico already punished teams with better defense than Monaco.

If one wanted to see two good games it should be something like ATL-MON and JUV-REA, because if Juve meets Atletico right now, it's gonna be "wake me up when penalties".

Stop this bullshit.

Bürki has been fantastic this season. How can you blame him for not playing perfectly after what happened last week? He said that he still can't sleep properly just a day or two ago. Sounds about the right time to start looking for a new keeper.

Same goes for every other player. I feel we could have beaten them under normal circumstances but these matches simply can't be evaluated. Makes no sense to blame anyone and the only question Tuchel and Watzke must ask is if everyone is okay.

Yeah, Monaco has a somewhat weak defense. Due to their playstyle and the players themselves. I *think* Real would be, out of the 3, their best opponent as they don't defend quite as well as Juve or Atletico.

I think this will be the end of the line for them, but if Jardim stays and they manage to keep their best players for 1 or 2 years more AND take care of their weakness, they might just be able to become a full on contender in the near future.

In any case I hope they do win their home League :)

Also, fun fact: Despite all the money PSG has invested, Monaco and Lyon have gone further (to the semi-finals) than them in the past 10 years.

Damn, i wonder what team would be better for Juve to face here.

Real Madrid is not a bad choice as our record against Real in SF is much much better vs in Final.

Monaco on the other hand is not going to be as comfortable as everyone think as this is a young team with no fear and also revenge for 2015 defeat so that can be another motivation.

Atletico is going to be highly dependent on the home game and who concede first. 50/50 Game i think.

Hard to argue with that team, although you could probably make a case for Sanchez or De Bruyne over Mane

de Gea almost seems to get his position by default. It doesn't feel like hes had that good a season, but tbh I can't really think of anyone obvious to replace him either

Only real blunder de gea had this year was the stoke game, but the improved defense has meant he doesn't have to make as many top class saves every game like the last couple years.

Sanchez should definitely be there over Mane. 19 goals and 9 assists vs. 13 goals and 5 assists, it's no contest.

As an Arsenal fan, I'd say Mane has been more instrumental to Liverpool's success this season than Sanchez. Sanchez has been so up and down it's really frustrating to watch him play in 2017.

quite an attacking side given that expecting this to be a horrible game of football with mou just grinding out the tie.

Whelp. Now United just has to go all in if they want to solve this in 90 minutes, no two ways about it.

Utd to win the league next season

Jose's second season streak to continue

It's kinda currious that ever since he reached Real Madrid he does a so-so first season (usually slightly better than the current one) and then blazes through everyone in the 2nd season. In his Porto and Inter days that wasn't an issue.

ffs. we're going to pay for not taking chances again.

We're 3rd best this season in shots on goal, shots on target, hitting woodwork, clean sheets and 2nd for goals conceded.

Its a decent base to start next season at least. We're 7th in actual goals scored though which is what needs addressing.

If he does get sacked, it will probably be because of him becoming too toxic again.

I think he's got a better chance of that not happening. He had a timeout which he clearly needed anyway, and United aren't dictating to him like Chelsea did. On top of that, the Madrid and Chelsea teams both have enormous player power with the owners. He's joining United where the only players that might have any power are Rooney (whos on the way out the door) or Carrick (who I don't think would do anything like that anyway).

We'll have to see how it all shakes out really.

EDIT: FML guys come one you've got to bury these!
