There's a lot of skill involved in knowing when to pass; how to bait out/play around specific cards. As an example: Monsters and some Scoia'tel decks tend to stack a lot of units on the melee row, so playing Biting Frost after they've passed is probably going to win you the round. If you just throw out Biting Frost early however they can either remove it or buff their units through it.

So I'm confused. If you are solo and queue are you automatically in solo queue? The patch notes are worded as you need to opt into a separate solo queue but I don't see any separate queue or settings for selecting solo only. The ranked match last night everyone was solo queue but I'm not sure if that was a coincidence.

No, there's a box you have to tick in your settings (advanced) menu
