What's the appeal of Steins;gate?
I played it for an hour and was extremely bored of the very VERY slow progression and having to skip through so much text that doesn't at all add to the story. The images of the girls were extremely embarrassing to watch (I was on a plane mind you and am in my 30s), and from my recollection they grunted/gasped ALL the time.

As someone who loved both Steins;Gates, it's VERY slow paced in the beginning but the payoff is huge and you won't wanna stop playing to see what happens next.

Some good deals in there

Also, I really messed up forgetting to download/add to library Hyper Light Drifter when it was a + title...ugh :/

Hyper Light Drifter was never a ps+ game, though, right?

oh fuck. i accidently bought the PS3 version of SG and not the Vita version. :( guess i have to deal with this now

Sony support is actually pretty good with refunding for this. Just ask nicely, etc.

How's Curse of the Great Curry God on vita?

It's... okay? It's way too easy in my opinion (I don't think I died once) but at the same time it feels quite polished. It plays similarly to games like Adventure Bar Labyrinth, where you start at level 1 each dungeon entrance but keep your weapons.

Where it shines is dialog/story... I usually hate jrpg-ish plots and such, but the humor in this game was surprisingly on point. A lot of it centered on characters misunderstanding other characters intentions and such, and it got some chuckles out of me [this is very, very rare in any game]

It's a great time waster, though, since it's so easy. The plat requires a lot of grinding [you need every weapon to be level 99 or something like that], but I got it.

Personally, I'd recommend it with reservations. It won't challenge you, but it'll keep you busy.

How's the Digimon game? Interested but would like to see what people think.

I'm playing Cyber Sleuth right now and enjoying it. I'm not far in though. Feels like Pokemon aimed at a slightly older age range maybe?

Gravity Rush bought! Considering the physical copy seems rare and even here in Japan it's like 50 bucks at stores, I jumped on it at that price.

After reading up on Croixleur Sigma, it doesn't seem like a game I'd like.

So now I just have to decide if I want Leynos digitally or not.

agh I forgot there are golden week sales and bought Dragon Quest Builders literally yesterday! It's mad good though. 110% worth it at that price.

kind of bouncing between grabbing Sorcery Saga and MeiQ, or tossing those out for Deception IV. on one hand I remember really liking the Deception game on ps1, on the other I am always ready for roguelikes and have been wanting to dive into Japanese dungeon crawlers. the obvious answer is all of them, but I'm a very cheap baby. what a hard life.

OK, I just purchased Steins:Gate. Not sure what to expect, but hoping it hooks me.
It took three hours until it hooked me. There are some parts then involving an infamous internet hoax from 2000 which was something I read about a lot back in the day. This stuff in Steins Gate gave me some real-life parallels. Before that I was kinda irritated with the pace and it came off as sappy slice of life comedy at first. But trust me, the story really goes places and is worth seeing to the end.

I youtubed the best ending and feel no shame. Requirements are prettty out there.

Hmm, I thought I saw it late last year. Maybe it was Dying Light? Now I don't remember. Well if it was never a + title that makes me feel better then lol

There was that Velocity Ultra game that was a PS+ title, maybe that's the one you're thinking of.

I have a physical version of persona 4 golden but I would like to transfer into a digital version. Can I do that and not lose my saved data? If so, how?
I do believe physical and digital uses different game ids... that means you have separated saves.

Physical: BCUS99999
Digital: NP99999

Unless the game has it own cloud save feature because the PSN one will thread digital and physical as different games.

Is Steins;Gate different enough from the anime or is it pretty much a retelling of the show? I liked the show but don't really need to play the game if it's mostly the same.

Steins;Gate is one of the greatest games/VN of all time. An incredible time travel story. Everyone get it! Just $3 must be a mistake!

He's probably thinking of Hyper Void, which was late last year and has 'hyper' in the name. He did give me a scare for half a second thinking I missed HLD too, lol, before I realized I'd never miss something like that. Heck, I don't miss games I'd never play in a million years.

Well, the Anime is based off the VN first of all. :p
It has a lot of scenes that the Anime cut, including endings for most of the characters that are fun or tragic and provide an alternate view on how the story might have ended. Other than that the true route is the same as the show.
If you like the anime, for $3 it can't hurt to try the game!

Going in on Nights of Azure. Any GAFsters with some impressions on that title?

if you went in the same way I went in, you'll find great enjoyment which is a lesbian romance story that's comical and somewhat sad with an amazing soundtrack as well as likeable characters with combat that can get repetitive and level designs that are nothing to write home about.

If you don't find the above interesting don't bother.

Another sale that has a bunch of PS1 Classics (which I own just about all of) and I'm reminded of the fact, YET AGAIN, THAT I CAN'T PLAY MY FUCKING PS1/2 CLASSICS ON MY GODDAMN PS4!

My balls, Sony. My balls.

Alrighty, so my final list is:

Atelier Sophie: The Alchemist of the Mysterious Book
Dragon Quest Builders
Nights of Azure

Interested in Dungeon Travelers 2, MeiQ and Sorcery Saga, as I'm always down for a good dungeon crawler or traditional Roguelike.

Earth's Dawn also looks really unique.

Awesome same.

But fuck... I have yet to start Persona 5, finishing that is going to take a while.
But it's going to be hard passing Gravity Rush 2 and Nier for that price.

I'm pulling the trigger on Valkyria Chronicles, Gravity Rush, Digimon Story, and God Eater 2.
Also, I'm thinking about buying either Chrono Phantasma or Central Fiction. I played Calamity Trigger a long while back but never Continuum Shift. I only play the single player mode, so while I've resigned myself to never playing Continuum Shift, should I skip Chrono Phantasma as well or is it worth playing before Central Fiction? Like is the story mode fun and would it be harder to make the story jump without it?

Go for Central Fiction, like others have said, it's the most complete package.

Thanks. I'm noticing that there's playable character DLC. Does that matter for story mode or just multiplayer? Also, should I go through some other media, or is the included recap enough?

So I picked up Steins;Gate 0 and Catherine. I'm looking into getting one of Trails of Cold Steel, Odin Sphere, and Valkyria Chronicles. Any one have any idea which way I should go?

Wait, can you actually play Steins Gate on PS4? The OP listed it under PS4...

What's the difference between it and the Steins: Gate 0 thing?

I no longer have Vita and it's a pain the arse to setup my PS3 again.

Mildly disappointed that Yakuza 0 isn't on sale. The PS4 side seems pretty lackluster since most of the good games are only around 30% off. The Vita sales are amazing though.

Well congratulations! You got yourself caught!
Really want GR2, but it will eventually hit $20 for sure and I can't fit playing it in now anyway. Gonna hold off.

How major are the differences between the last BlazBlue and this new one on sale. I have the previous entry already, but unsure what is new for this sale price.

I'd say it would be better to wait for the PC release for Trails of Cold Steel, as it will have much more voice acting (making up for the odd scenes where other characters' lines are voiced, but the lead's aren't). You should narrow it down to Odin Sphere and Valkyria Chronicles, and while I would say the latter, I'm also not familiar with the gameplay improvements made with the re-release of the former (I didn't care for combat in the original Odin Sphere, but apparently that's been fixed).

Central Fiction is a direct sequel, and conclusion to the current storyline.

Calamity Trigger = BB1
Continuum Shift = BB2
Chrono Phantasma = BB3
Central Fiction = BB4

Personally, I'm waiting for the inevitable Extend edition before bothering with Central Fiction (perhaps Aksys' attitude regarding dual-audio after abandoning it at the finish line will change by then as well, which I only considered acceptable with GGXrd thanks to the dub for -SIGN- being underwhelming and that being the only GG to have one).

Agreed to wait for the PC port of Trails.

Odin Sphere is a fantastic PS4 port and much of the gameplay flaws are cleaned up and rebuilt almost entirely. That said, it can get pretty repetitive and while a neat game it overstays its welcome long before reaching the conclusion of the five stories. It is gorgeous though, just recommended over a long-term in short bursts.

I'd go with Valkyria Chronicles as the safest bet.

I mean, VNs are essentially long novels. You've gotta put in the time. Skipping text is a bad idea when the whole point of the experience is to read. You wouldn't do that with a novel, right?
