Neymar is actually a gaming fanatic, and he shows moments of gaming all the time.

He loves CS and Mario Kart, amongst other games.

...he actually did the same with his Brazilian team buddies and Mario Kart 7.

Dude has more than 1,381 hours on CS

I'm a teacher at a school with middleschool and highschool. This week I've seen something I've never expected. Some students (13-14 yo) were playing mk8d in tabletop mode with 4 joy cons on the playground during break. I've never seen a ds, 3ds or any other (portable) gaming console at my school (and I would've noticed them if they were there). This shit is real.
I'm having a hard time believing this. You've never seen a DS or 3DS, but somehow have seen a Switch already? At a high school?

I'm pretty sure I remember footballers getting the vita, but can't find the image anymore.

I'm not surprised at all.

They are young and rich and consoles are pocket change for them. They don't need to care about console wars, a platforms's future, or other sillinesses of the kind. They spend loads of time on the road and like to kill time. So they just buy whatever they want to even just try out.

I think 35-40 million is guaranteed at this point. remember this is a nintendo handheld mainly, and there has never been a nintendo handheld that sold below 50 million. plus the launch looks much better then wiiu.

There was a decline in sales from DS to 3DS and the Switch is priced higher than both of them. Kids are a big part of the handheld market but $60 games and a $300 console isn't what a parent on a budget wants to invest in especially when kids are known to break things.

I've been buying Switch games from $20 to $60. Console prices can, and usually have, adapt to drops in demand over time.

People buy Nintendo consoles to play Nintendo-made games. Their pricing isn't going to be below $60 and they will stay like that for a long time.

You do know parents buy kids ipads right, the ones that are really fragile and expensive. Like my parents bought my little brother a Ipad so being fragile doesn't determine whether a parent buys a thing.

Plus unlike you a lot of consumers don't view 300 dollars being expensive for what its offering. Unlike GAF most audience would view it as a 2 in 1 package that can do what a console and handheld can do.

i hosted a work party with my non gamer co workers recently. it's usually a board game type affair but i decided to do a Switch night and it was a resounding success. co workers are asking if we can do the next get together at my place cuz they had so much fun.

i was kinda surprised. we played jackbox party, mario kart and 1 2 switch.

had a blast.

I guess if you can predict the future with that level of accuracy there's no point in arguing.

I was going to say that 1-2-Switch is $50, and Nintendo has all the freedom to introduce more games at that or even lower price point especially as the 2/3DS gets phased out, if their data indicates that kind of prices are needed to keep sales momentum, but what do I know.

I mean people forget what Captain Tod was.

Damn they were all able to find the same model? Seems odd given how crazy the stock levels have been. They either got really lucky or they all just happened to be waiting for the team on the plane

Switch seems to be doing well starting out and I'm just wondering what's making the difference in how people think about it?

People are saying "I can play this anywhere now," but really the Switch is just a very powerful handheld. It's a handheld being marketed as a console. It's basically the same concept Sony tried. What's the difference? Actual 1st party support? The near-undivided attention of the 1st party development teams? The TV connection capability? The stand letting people play it in sort of a "mini TV-and-controller" configuration?

Could also be a case of pent up demand for nintendo software. Zelda and Mario Kart 8 out in the same year is pretty cool and tempting for a lot of people. I haven't played either in about 20 years. Seeing them out at the same time really does something to me. Still haven't bought it, but its the first time I've seriously considered buying a nintendo console in a long time. Hopefully it stays strong, its good to see them hit the mark again.

I agree with these 40 million is a conservative, but realistic number so far.Switch easily crosses the barrier of Wii U and GameCube but too soon to say if much more.better to keep expectations realistic with Nintendo.
.
And despite the higher prices, thats a double edged sword because they are needed to offer the console like ecperiences that costumers are loving on Switch so far and are willing to bite.
Switch is placing itself as a luxury entertainment product and so far its been a success.

Thinks buying more servers can fix a bad patch

Somy offered them with a lot of "but" bullshits. You need both a Vita and Ps4. You need an wireless adopter. You can't output vita directly to tv etc

People underestimate the Switch's potential

Nintendo has a success on their hands because everyone wants one - Current gen/PC owners would want one for portability and console Nintendo games in a handheld. While the Wii attracted uber casuals the Switch makes it up in portability - a single Wii satisfied the whole family while multiple Switchs would be necessary to satisfy a group who would play in handheld mode.

And it's a sexy device!

Well, I hope switch does do well and am quite heartened by the start.

This is the device Nintendo/Japan needed. I really really hope they take full advantage of that.

If all DLC came tied to $13 figurines, I'd consider all DLC to be free

Should you be using a Switch wirelessly on a plane?
If it is specifically allowed, then yes why not?

Why not? Most planes offer WiFi on board. You're only supposed to have them in airplane mode during take off and landing.
I cant say about anything about the US, but normal european flights from let's say Germany to Spain or Austria to Sweden do not have any WiFi.
Sometime there are some Lufthansa flights that offer their entertainment app wich you can wirelessly connect to and watch movies, but surfing isnt possible. I've yet to fly on a plane equipped with true WiFi.
Source: I plane-travel about 4 times a year through europe, since about 10 years now.

They let you pay for wifi on US flights, often times these days, on the newer planes. Never done it, so don't know what it is like.

My friends and I were out yesterday and decided to stop and get a drink. While we were sitting in the bar we decided to try Mario Kart with four players. It was surprisingly playable and fun even with the tiny screen. Nintendo are really on to something here,

Vita was the launch of a new Sony device.
Switch is the launch of the next Nintendo device.

That's the difference.

On Vita you got direct-to-video Uncharted nobody asked for.
On Switch you get muthafuking Breath of the Wild.

The internet?

Thanks, smart ass. What's the source. :p
