Well, you can't have surprises every year. Even last year, if we exclude spider man that was leaked some days before the conference the only other surprise (at least for me) was Death Stranding and only because i wasn't imagining that they will have something to show so soon.

They are not going to relegate Days Gone to PSX. It is Bend's first major console title and they are going to push it at the biggest show of the year.

Insomniac can make a game that looks this good, they pretty much already did so on the OG PS4 with Ratchet & Clank 2016.

Whether it plays differently or not is the only question.

Shame how so many Sony IP's from the PS1 era have just disappeared (sometimes after being given one last shot on PSP).

All gone, and there's plenty I haven't mentioned. What's even sadder is that Legaia and Dragoon are probably gone for good given Sony's reluctance to do first-party JRPGs anymore, and Legaia 2 didn't sell well.

Hopefully that rumoured PS2 on PS4 release of Legaia 2 (based on a PEGI rating) happens though. That was last year.

• Story trailer for God of War, showing off some epic battles. Spring 2018.
• Bounce back to Insomniac unexpectedly, teaser for a new Ratchet and Clank.
• Singleplayer campaign demo for Call of Duty WWII.
• Days Gone gameplay demo, featuring motorcycle gameplay, crafting, scavenging food/supplies, weather. Summer 2018.
• Reveal for Sucker Punch new IP.
• Uncharted: The Lost Legacy gameplay.
• Trailer for Gran Turismo Sport, December 2017, announce more robust single player mode.
• Red Dead Redemption 2 story trailer, gameplay demo, October 2017 release date
• The Last of Us Part II short teaser demo to close the show.
• Oh but one more thing, Red Dead Redemption Remastered trailer, game's been fully injected with RDR2's assets and looks just as good. Out September 2017.
• Oh but while we've got Rockstar on stage, they have something else to share with you - Agent reveal trailer - Summer 2018, still Playstation exclusive, just cuz.

Now how many post-apocalyptic games have we gotten, even in the past two years? Hell, Sony already has that genre covered with TLOU and Horizon. No need for another one.

You're assuming Bend wants to make a new Syphon Filter. Last we heard, Creative Director John Garvin was completely burnt out on the series and had no interest in making another one.

Days Gone is nothing remotely like TLOU or Horizon, so I have no idea what you're talking about there. Whether it has its own selling points beyond "post-apocalyptic open world game" and "zombie waves" is a question worth asking and I have my own concerns about it but it's impossible to say at this point, seeing as we've only seen 10 minutes of gameplay. There's a ton of different ways they could go with that premise.

There was a lot of time given there last year, more than I had imagined. They have to detail the exclusive content for each game, show trailers, gameplay and talk alphas/betas/early access, PSVR content. Between the 3 games it could be around 25 minutes. Not to mention Capcom.

Legaia 2 has been rated for PS4 in Europe for ages and it's SIE's to release through and through.

Same with Ape Escape 3, which also feels due.

Otherwise, I don't know of any.

It always seems like it's PC-primary gamers who want to go back to 5 year gens (something Sony never really did in Japan, even PS1 got few months extra, and PS2 got more than 6 1/2 years).

Yeah, 2018 seems too early to me. 2019, maybe. I'd be okay with 2020. PS4 is still going strong and I see no reason to rush PS5 to the market, not even the Scorpio, as it's likely to be expensive. When PS5 does come though I want that backwards compatibility.

2018?! Fuck that. It'd basically just be an incremental upgrade on what we've got, which is way too boring for a proper "next gen". Plus, Sony's not going to make the PS4 obsolete that quickly, they're going to ride this wave out as long as they can (probably into next gen too, like they did with the PS2).

2020 is my guess. Should hopefully be enough time for them to make use of 7nm Zen APUs.

Assassins Creed 3 had moments like that where you can sprint towards an open window and it would automatically make Connor run inside and out of the building in order to keep momentum.
