Thumper PS4 vs Switch Graphics Comparison Video

Looks like an impressive port

Game should be out now on the eShop in all regions. $20.

Review Thread

To add to the OP, Drool had some words to say about the port beyond the redone camera. They appeared in this piece about digital publishing on Switch from MCV UK: http://www.mcvuk.com/news/read/remade-reborn-how-nintendo-s-fixing-digital-for-switch/0181749

For Drool, who's bringing its ‘rhythm violence' game Thumper to Switch later this year, Nintendo approached the studio while they were over in Japan.

”I met some nice people from Nintendo at [the Kyoto-based indie game festival] Bit Summit last year," says the studio's co-founder Marc Flury. ”I was showing Thumper and they were interested in bringing the game to their new platform. In particular, they thought Thumper could work well with the HD Rumble. We were all excited to start working together."
Admittedly, Flury says that porting Thumper's custom engine ”was a lot of work" for him as the studio's sole programmer, resulting in a brand-new shader just for the Switch version, but in the end his experience was a positive one.

”Fortunately, the hardware is capable and the tools and support have been top-notch," he says. ”As soon as we got the game running on Switch, I wanted to curl up in bed and play it. We're excited to bring the game to a mobile platform. With the Switch, we can make it portable without sacrificing any of the visual or gameplay quality."

Looks good. I'll be getting this.

This is super nit picky but it's a rhythm game, they couldn't sync up both versions in the video?

Thumper was incredible on VR. I'll be buying this on Switch because portable sounds nice, but oh god VR.

Looks like the exact same game to be, which is great.
I don't care much about VR. Portability though is a great plus to me. So this is definitely going to be my version of choice.

This and Snake Pass seem to be perfect example of games that can look closer to if not exactly the same on Switch as they look on PS4, which is really great and shows that you can actually achieve something on the Switch if you put some work into it.

The games look good for what they are, but it's premature to make that statement. Artstyle goes a long way and can mask technical deficiencies.

If all DLC came tied to $13 figurines, I'd consider all DLC to be free
This thread went as expected...lol.

Good to see that the game is performing well on Switch - seems like a no-brainer for people without access to VR. Then again....that market probably already own the game.

I know what you meant. But you should have just said VR.

A no brainer? Is there something wrong with the steam or ps4 versions of the game?

I would've never heard about the game if not for the spot on the Switch eShop, so it's made a new customer out of me.

Can't we just be happy it's a great port? We have a portable version and a VR enabled version, options are good. The best version us your preference.

Switch discussions are getting a bit obnoxious....well..

No brainer - as in Switch owners can grab it without having to worry about it being a subpar adaptation. The game has been out for weeks on PC/PS4 - we know its good on these systems and runs great, didnt think i would have to spell it out on a thread about the performance of the Switch version.

And yeah...if i have PS4/PC/Switch i go for Switch because i get to play it docked and undocked.

Lol y'all are childish with the platform stuff.

Switch version is great all around. HD Rumble is a great +, can't say it enough.

Thumper
+
VR Headset
+
Joy Con HD Rumble
+
Stereo (x2) Linked Bass Transducers (all set up into your favourite seat)
+
Headphones or Surround System (as long as it's loud!)

=

Fuck me! :-O

I've done the Thumper & VR Headset & Headphones.

I used the Sony Wireless 7.1 but the sound wasn't anywhere near loud enough and put me right off. Since sold PSVR and was playing Thumper the other day with my Surround Sound System loud as **** and although my Wife wasn't too pleased, it was then I realised adding the Bass Transducers was the next step and something to soften the blow of no VR.

Ironically enough I also noticed that day there was an Audio Option and mine was set to about 3 or 4 instead of @ 8 I think. What a muppet! That might have prevented me selling my PSVR lol!
