Can't wait to get my ass handed to me Friday in online, but who cares! Tekken 7 finally on current gen! Hate that some major mainline characters will not be available until later this year via DLC.

oh my god King doing the RainMaker has got me so hype for this game. I damn near lost my mind when I found out he can do a stunner in 5.

For those SF players looking to get into Tekken, I've made a video comparing the series to Tekken help break down Tekken for the newcomers Here it is.

Hopefully this would be a lot of help for those trying to learn the game this go around or for those who aren't but are curious about the deeper mechanics in both games outside of "One's 2D and One's 3D"

And yes the bullet club stuff is in the western release.

But Tekken, a series well-known for being impenetrable for new players, does itself no favors by not adapting to the training and replay standards set by modern fighters: no tutorial mode, no in-game frame data, weird Training Mode problems, no replays, the ability to ignore particular players in Ranked Mode… these are all real problems that keep Tekken 7 from being a perfect experience.

No tutorial mode seems like a big omission.
Also no replays? That's pretty baffling, if true.
I hope they patch that stuff in, later on.

Ok i'm a filthy Casual, I enjoyed Street Fighter IV. So I have funds to buy this or Injustice 2.
No Idea what to get . First world Problem.

If you actually want to play, get Tekken. If you want to manage the AI to fight for you, Injustice.

Do any reviews say anything about the Xbox one version's performance or visuals? Seems everyone is reviewing PS4 version.

Also curious. Will Scorpio version be best console version, and will Scorpio support arcade stick?

I reviewed this game from the perspective of Street Fighter fan: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b4othLLlS_I

It would've been nice to get a real guide on how to play in Tekken 7, not sure why something like this wasn't included.

I don't think we'll be seeing any PC reviews until after the game launches. The codes have been given out but none of them are active just yet.

Averaging 82 on Open and Metacritic, so about on par with Tag 2, and a few points above 6 (79-81).

It's Tekken

Ignoring / avoiding players in Ranked Match ?? Man, that sounds awful. You shouldn't be able to pick and choose who not to fight.

Other than that, very excited for this. Will be picking up day 1 for PS4 Pro

How's the story mode? Is it like one story like Injustice and DoA, or arcade mode with CG ending?

It's pretty alright. More the former -- a two-and-a-half hour cinematic story charting a journalist's investigation into the Mishima clan interspersed with one-on-one fights and a bit of a side, tangential story. Final battle is mint, mind.

People did that with the old system too. Sure they have more info to go on now, but they still would've done it, same for boosters. This system at least lets players who give a shit do deathmatches for ranks.

The thing that bothers me the most is lack of replays, I hope they patch that in.

Custom soundtrack support? I'd still be all over DOA5, but Koei Tecmo not supporting such a simple thing for a fighting game (as well as the game's terrible music) soured me.

As someone who is new to Tekken this is very frustrating. I'm still going to give it a shot but how a fighting game can launch without a tutorial in 2017 is beyond me. My hype level has taken a hit.

A bare bones tutorial in 2017 is inexcusable. No tutorial at all is unbelievable. Sigh.

Can't imagine they're going to bother going back to patch in a scorpio version x months after release. Especially when it'll have the lowest player count by a big margin.

Cross posting from the T7 prerelease thread:

Here are three screenshots from PS4 Pro. I was initially worried about image quality but it was mostly because I picked the ugliest, muddiest stage first. There's some chromatic aberration and film grain overuse that doesn't do the image any favors too.

PC version at 4k on a 1080ti looks way, way better too. It's glorious.

These are downscaled to 1080p, but here's the 4k screenshots. The game isn't native that's just how PS4 captures them, so don't expect it to look much better:

Mashima? IGN should know that people think they might have actually played a Tekken game or that someone in the office would have caught on.

There's probably gamer tags and avatars out there with the name in the handle.

Otherwise great reviews. I am thrilled. Two years in the arcades until now. It reminds me of Tekken Tag Tournament in some ways and how that was in the arcades for sometime.

Okay that's about enough review updating for the night for me (you're welcome), I think I got most of the reputable places. Will do some more in the morning.

Hmm now I have a tough decision to make, Tekken 7, Injustice 2 or 50% off Street Fighter V?

I'm bad at fighting games, but I want to learn (not interested in just cheesing my way through fights), and I want a game with a solid online community because my friends will only play Smash lol. Which would be best for me?

Edit: Probably should post this in the fighting game noob thread actually

Are there any comparison screenshots or videos out there that show how the game looks on the old PS4 vs the Pro?

He was doing a bit that failed.

In-game replays are better quality (on base PS4) and don't fill up your hard drive.

I was planning on getting it on PC. Going back through my Twitch stream to try to break down a match hardly seems anywhere close to ideal.

While you're both right, it's still a pretty minor inconvenience and you still have access to your footage pretty damn easily. Share/Shadowplay are 'good enough' for an otherwise niche feature.
