Ya'll expect me to believe a leak that insists that Capcom is going to be relaunching the game, giving people fan favorites, but tops it off with putting in fucking Necro in the game.

Nah bruh

I gots no problems with that.

They could offer just that consumer (who bought SSFV new) more characters.

Those with the free upgrade will still need to purchase characters like normal.

It'd probably be a physical version of the Deluxe Edition (which includes the S1 & S2 characters) with maybe the stages & costumes (at least the story costumes) included. Maybe even throw in the S3 Character Pass.

But if all of what we've discussed there were to be true, it seems tenuous at best to differentiate that from being a different edition of the game at retail, something they said they'd never do. (EDIT - Someone has pointed out that Capcom were actually very careful over their wording on this, and only ever implied that the base game is the only disc you'll need to continue playing over the games lifespan, implying all version / functionality updates will be free, so i'll concede on that.) In general it seems to convey them as being completely at odds over what business they've wanted to choose for this game from the beginning, still trying to get the best of both worlds.

I think a better and more coherent tactic for them would be to make "Super" free to play with access to the original base roster. Something I think can be justified even for those who purchased the game day 1 by now. No retail presence. Double down on the cosmetics / ecosystem with more effort put into stages / skins / announcers / legacy music.

Not really, it's a step in the right direction but far from complete, less characters than USF4, characters, outfits and season passes still costs too much.
They are a bit too slow with catching up (if that's what you want to call it), but they are definitely getting there.

Street Fighter 4. Release date: February 17, 2009 for PS3 and X360.

Ultra Street Fighter. Release date: June 3 2014.

USFIV was a result of years worth of updates, & SFV started from zero in terms of character assets. Unless Capcom pulled an Injustice 2/MvCI & borrowed SFIV assets for the veterans, there was no chance of SFV matching USFIV's launch roster.

Necro is a weird pick for sure. He's bottom tier in SF3 popularity and we got many characters more popular than him who still haven't made it to a 3D SF.

Didn't they scream this would never happen? :p
They said that the launch disc would be the only thing youd need to continue playing throughout the years. They used the Super version ( the expansion model and not strictly the name) as an example of what theyre not doing. I swear people selectivly remember what they said in order to try to get a "gatcha" moment

That's what makes me believe it's real

I'd really believe it's real if Ono finally put that sparklefuck Ingrid in like he always wanted to do

he's the drunk uncle that gets wasted at family gatherings and just says anything ;)

Right after washin' the young lads in SF2 and wondering why nobody will play him after

Since the first negative SFV thread on here I've been heavily saying that they'd have to make it "Super" and change the IU up, also that they've had to add Arcade Mode, new Critical Arts and all those former characters people need but people kept saying stuff like "they can't do that" and "they won't do that" or even "that won't make any sense." Shit seemed obvious to me.

SFV has a stink on it. The best thing you could do it try a 3rd Strike-like change to the original game to get people to play it. The issues with the game are everything else that isn't gameplay oriented. You get that and you'll get people joining because the main problem is that even the name "SFV" just doesn't sound good to most.

Well, MvCI roster is smaller than UMvC3, so thst's no guarantee either. :p

I still don't get what's so important about arcade mode.
Is a traditional mode with a few to an endless amount of fights with some options and a set difficulty.

Rather than the one round fights the current game has with random difficulty.

One can only hope that after all this time, they do it well (like SFIV at least) and not like Tekken 7 which is 5 fights and a game over screen. Then if you want character endings, you have to go onto another mode, do one fight and there you get an ending.

With the online focus of SFV, ladders like the ones in MKX and Injustice 2 would be great. Traditional ones with an ending, random ones with missions and stuff every week or so.

The 7 characters left for SF3 are Gill, Sean, Necro, Oro, Q, Twelve and Remy.

You wouldn't want Sean alongside Sagat/Sakura due to his shoto base. Gill seems like someone you'd save for a final update (to bridge to SF3 story-wise) if you ever did him. And of the other 5, Twelve and Remy are the true bottom tier. Necro's at least interesting conceptually, and if the season has Sagat/Sakura, you have room to play around w/ less popular options.

Man, do you play fighting games? This reminds me of people complaining Tekken 7 had less characters than Tekken Tag 2.

They can't reasonably increase the roster every time just because a previous iteration had more characters. People who play Smash are going to learn that the hard way when that series reaches its breaking point.

aside from Valle mading leaking the S3 characters, the rest of the rumor is fake

Because people buy fighting games to play the robust arcade modes that last ten to fifteen minutes and unlock some art that's infinitely more important than gameplay mechanics and new characters and improvements.

Oh I'm sure it's fake. I'm just saying it's something they need to do.

But this is Capcom. I'm sure it'll end up being fake and I'm sure they'll screw up Sakura's design like they did Akuma's. Same with all the other DLC characters' designs.

I would be legitimately surprised if they messed up a SCHOOLGIRL costume.

Like if there's one thing you can always count on Japanese game devs, it's that they know how to make schoolgirl outfits. That's like the one thing that's common across every major dev.

I'm sure they'll let you buy classic Sakura regardless of what happens.

Oh gotcha. I agree. I think Akuma is fine tho. He reminds me of Zodd and Zodd is cool

I said less characters, which is true I didn't say it should or have to match it (it's my opinion).
Certain outfits are a rotation like system, if you don't buy it immediately then tough luck..that kinda sucks.
KoF's business model for example is a lot more customer friendly/cheaper in comparison.

I certainly hope so. I'd especially like a proper disc based version with all content right on the disc. SFV is basically worthless without the updates.

This "leak" is BS to a large extent. As Ryce said, Riku just piggybacks off of everybody else's leaks and claims them as his own. The only things here we've seen mentioned in other places are:
-S2 roster leaked all the way back in October right under our noses
-S3 roster possibly leaked by Valle
-SSFV (Bornfree's backed it up, plus we all know it was inevitable)
-Arcade mode (Capcom's making a psuedo-port of the PC version for arcades, so the mode is eventually coming)
-Second Story Expansion (heavily hinted at by Ed's in-game story)
-Extra battle was found by X-Kira (a questionable source, but this is likely legit)

The other stuff, like second CAs and the Illuminati PvE, are likely pulled out of Riku's ass and not happening.

As for the S3 characters, they're okay I guess, though I'd rather swap Necro and Viper for Makoto and Haggar.

Haven't touched SFV in a year but I might give it a shot if this turns out to be true. Well, unless they somehow find a way to fuck up the arcade mode.

I wouldn't bet on getting all DLCs. Though, they'll most likely release a disc version that includes Season 1 and Season 2 characters.

I will never understand "But where's arcade mode tho?"

Fighting braindead CPU fights doesnt help you play better, and is just an excuse to unlock gallery art and nothing much else.
