Konami: Internal Discussions regarding Switch games, namedrops Castlevania

That's a fair point. I thought you were shitting on the possibility of it being bad because it was 2D. Yaknow, some call the Switch a "pet" platform because it's the weak one in the market, hence "lol2Dgamez" trolls. My bad.

To your point, a good question is to ask who would even compose for the game? Michiru Yamane left after Order of Ecclesia, and she was the goddess that was involved in most of the games since Bloodlines.

If I were to guess Konami would just probably get an internal team to do re-arrangements on the cheap rather than make totally new music.

Definitely. I thought the Wii PES games were awesome. Being able to control the whole team while pointing at the screen was revolutionary and should make a comeback. It would give them a niche that doesn't exist anywhere else (maybe it does/could on the PC). With the userbase on the NS, they could really do something with that. I hope they do, honestly. I would pick up PES over FIFA.

I believe the 3DS PES games were pretty well received too. They even included a behind the back camera to better use the 3D effect.

I've not heard anything (good) about the Fifa games on 3DS in comparison.

Couldn't they contract? I imagine plenty of composers and musicians over the years have gone freelance.

I'm sure they could, which would be interesting. Yamane doing Castlevania and not-Castlevania.

Does Yasuhiro Ichihashi still work there? Yamane worked with Ichihashi on Order of Ecclesia's soundtrack.

More portable Castlevania? I can dig it.

Don't have a ton of faith in Konami, but if they actually manage to pull off another quality Castlevania game or even if they release SoN, RoB, or Bloodlines on the eShop, I'd be pretty hype.

Goemon is more popular than Castlevania in Japan and the other way around. In conclusion they should make both.

I would LOVE a Castlevania game on Switch, as long as it's exclusive, and original, and an actual Castlevania game...as in not a fighting game...I'm just saying. lol.

Also, if this happens, think we can get Simon Belmont in Smash Bros.? That'd be a unique character and moveset.

I'm not sure if new games in Konami-owned franchises would be any good, since the company has systematically alienated nearly everyone who has ever made a remotely successful IP for them. And I mean no disrespect to the people still working there, making games, but I just don't think they could make something to live up to the franchise's legacy.

However, if they want to dig into their library and re-release quality ports of MGS 1-3 on all modern systems, including Switch and PC, they'd get my cash multiple times. I guess they could do MGS4, PW and V too, but whatever.

Also, give us classics of all the good Castlevania games. And Silent Hill.

License the IP out to Nintendo and have Good Feel make it. Etsunobu Ebisu producing, with the care that went in to something like Wario Land Shake It. Structure it like Order of Ecclesia, with normal CV stages and some huge castle areas.

Win win all around.

I'd like a isometric castlevania, with levels and limited exploration like OoE.

Just not the same old side scroller.
But if we ever get a new game I'm sure Konami will play it safe.

Focusing on Bomberman, I'm glad these are still made by someone in some form again (there was no Bomberman for Wii U or 3DS (cancelled)).
There were four Super Bomberman games made for the SNES, so if they are so risk-averse I wonder if they'll just continue making more of those for the Switch? :p

I don't care if western developers never support the switch so long as heritage 3rd parties like Konami, Capcom, and Square Enix are present.

SE's already IMO the top 3rd party on the system.

I don't think that's really up to opinion. On an objective level they are publishing the most games out of third parties and despite being a later release DQXI is still bigger than anything anyone else has announced.

It's good that they've announced DQXI, but who knows when that game is actually coming out. Odds are it's going to be much much later, which I think kills it's appeal.

Would like to see Konami jump in with quite a few more games.

Sounds like you dont care what those three bring/don't bring to the table either.

I thought it was self evident considering the thread is about bomberman and castlevania, but these companies should focus on updates to their NES and SNES era series.

As a Classic Castlevania fan none of those are appealing especially a poor fangame of all things. There is certainly room for Konami together something worthwhile and it also means that we could be one step closer to finally having Castlevania represented in Smash depending on how serious Konami would about pushing the title.
lol. Lecarde Chronicles 1 is just as good as the best classicvanias.

I'm all for a new Castlevania game but the easiest, cheapest and fastest way of quenching some of that vania thirst is just releasing a collection.

Like I said on another thread I'd go the Capcom way of making a Legacy Collection with all the console Classicvanias Six games in one that would include:

CV1
CV2
CV3
SC4
CV Bloodlines
CV Rondo of Blood

One of those six games (Bloodlines) has never seen a release in any modern platform at all since its original Genesis cart and needs this collection the most. Well that or a VC release.

The Switch version could release in 2020 and it would still be a bigger game than anything else announced by third parties.

Don't make into a big risky production. Put 10 passionate guys and gals to work on a 2D castlevania that isn't igavania. Eight or so well designed levels.

...Unless that rumor about Final Fantasy VII:R coming to the NS is true. Heh, heh. Or if GTA V gets announced. I guess we'll see, but I don't think the potential of DQXI is all that big since it's not gonna be released at launch and they'll have to do some stuff to make it enticing for people to double dip. Wasted potential, in my opinion. But you're right, as of now it is the "biggest" game announced for the system...though people might debate that since Monster Hunter XX has been announced as well.

Doesn't Good Feel have a good number of former Castlevania staff?

I believe Ebisu worked on the Konami Kobe Castlevania games, so that would be games like Circle of the Moon.

Fangames still have you covered.

Lecarde Chronicles (the first one) is a Classicvania.

Who does Konami still employ that's ever worked on these games? I recall the artist for Super Bomberman R, but much of the key staff that worked on the series has either retired or joined IGA.
They always can put Platinum on it 😀
because internally they aren't capable of more than Pachislot games
the new series at least feel like a step in the right direction

If Konami can bring some legacy collections to the Switch a log with new budget games like Bomberman was then there is plenty of success to be had there.

Ethnicity is not a race!
If there was any company that could go from Zero to Hero, it would be Konami.

Their IPs are so ripe for updates that one has to wonder how Konami doesn't have teams that JUST DO one title. A Castlevania team. A Metal Gear team. A Contra team. A Goemon team. A Gradius team. Those 5 titles alone would be the money makers while Konami plays with new IPs.

Ethnicity is not a race!
Konami-owned franchises and titles people demand:

Metal Gear Solid remakes and current gen and PC ports
Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance 2
Silent Hill
Zone of the Enders
Castlevania
Contra
Suikoden
Vandal Hearts
Ganbare Goemon
Bloody Roar
Gradius
Parodius
etc etc

Titles that will get made:

N/A

Man this would get me to buy whatever system they are released on...
