The game looks incredible, pretty much the most atmospheric and good looking game of the E3 so far and that with a pixel-look.

Regarding the theme of the game I am fascinated that the criticism went to comments against the modern, mostly radical feminism instead of the automatism and universal income. It's somehow funny that the description says that people are defining themselves more about consume instead of what they create even though that's basically what happens for aeons now, because most of the working parts of society is not creating anything and even if they do, it's not because they want to but because they must. Instead the whole discussion went to feminism even though Tim Soret makes it clear that he is an egalitarian, which is, contrary to feminism, non-sexist by definition.

yeah "egalitarian" is non-sexist in Merriam Webster, but in the actual real life...

wait lmao you just said feminism is sexist?

Define feminism. Right now.

lol, yes, feminism is the real sexism you guys

Y'all know that guy is doing that on purpose so he and his buddies can laugh at NEOCUCK on whatever weird site they're on right.

And yea, so it doesn't get paged.

Unless he apologizes directly to Zoe Quinn, I don't wanna hear one word else.

Wow at some of the reactions I'm reading (especially in the PC conference live thread)... "oh this scumbag is trying to apologize lolol" etc.

What are you, 12 ? I guess some of you are pretty much perfect as you surely never made any mistakes or saying things at a point in your life that you simply regret and you feed you need to apologize for. Smh. This reminds me why I always stayed clear of all these ___gates and dramas on the web, it's so polarizing and you only see blurts of extreme opinions and reactions coming out.

This game is looks so, so absolutely fucking gorgeous looking I'd be mad to skip it. Tim had the balls to apologize, point blank, live on scene and that's way more than a lot of you jokers will ever do. Fine by me. When someone apologizes, you acknowledge and accept or you don't, but you just move on either way and you step beating the dead horse. It's lame and always lower than whatever the person apologized for.

(Sorry for the small rant, I never do that but it pained me.)

He's apologizing so he doesn't lose his deal with Microsoft.

The game is still set in a world where progressiveness "ruined" society, more or less.

He's still every bit as shady and awful as he was before this "apology".

Oh, that link to the blogpost sure brings clarity, since it also links to the medium profiles of the writers:

Trump’s victory, a surprise? Not if you followed #GamerGate (Nov 18, 2016) - pretty much exactly what you think it is
I’m a Muslim, a woman and an immigrant. I voted for Trump (Nov 11, 2016) - yet again pretty much exactly what you think it is
What I learned as Feminist Critic Sandy Beaches (Feb 29, 2016) - yup, more gamergate bullshit. With a nice streak of anti-feminism and some weird as fuck berniebro-ing in the middle of it.

So his views has changed since last November maybe?

The other dude is a lot less gamergate-y it seems

There is some weird shit like:
5 Things Every Man Should Know (Jun 22, 2016) - which has a bunch of werid man v. woman language in it.

I'm not sure if it's really being held up as an example of "How we live today".

The pornstar tweet is used because it deals with the cyberpunk themes of body augmentation and enhancement, as well as the necessary escalation of transgressive behavior over time.
It is though? "We eventually forgot we’re living in the future, because the amazing tech became invisible to us. Think about how many concepts and pieces of tech from this photo". Maybe I phrased it poorly, I didn't mean it as if they were suggesting that it is the norm but it is the example they use for illustrating how tech is invisible for us and we just consider it part of life.

Yet again, I'm pretty sure that you could make that point of societal transgressions with gay rights (I mean gay sex is still hardly portrayed on TV or in films) and it would be more of a stark contrast.

The body modification/augmentation I might concede a bit on.

It's not just about the excerpt on its own, it's when it is put into context of what they've (well, mostly the other bloke) said about feminism and women, it doesn't come off well. That this is what they go to to illustrate that "Technology enabled this selfie, but what also makes it possible is a evolution of occidental taboos."
That very same point, could have been illustrated in a multitude of different ways.
I might read this wrong but I don't think he meant that she deserves to be judged but rather than not so long ago - she would have been. If that's the point, I'm not sure what's so wrong about it - it certainly seems that sex work is more socially acceptable than it used to be.
My point was that women who do pornographic films are still shunned/judged (and often fairly harshly) by society.

lol what does that even mean. I don't know if most women would want a natural pregnancy if an affordable means of an artificial uterus was possible. Yes women want to smoke and drink. Yes they want to do sport activities. Like guys do and are able to do all their life because they don't get pregnant.

Fuck this guy.

Reading the thread as it develops on the sidelines at work so can't comment in length right now but man that Kinski avatar pic is bewildering in the context of people's GamerGate discussion and your responses

EDIT: To be more precisely on topic, was willing to ignore the creator's stances as I usually don't care but seeing how the plot currently appears to very closely mirror said stances, I'll have to write it off for now.

You know, things aren't always in practice as they are by definition.

In practice, most so-called "egalitarians" say everyone matters the same, but fail to admit that one side, women, is the side where the problems lie and dismiss feminism as extreme and something that wants to give women more rights than men.

And I'm inclined to say that that is fucking stupid.

First of all, it's time for me to recommend "A Human's Guide to Words" again. It's great and will teach you all about semantics and categories and the notion of abstract ideas. I personally learned a lot from it.

And there has been discussion about his take on UBI and automation as well, but less is being said about that because the writer is being very vague about these topics outright saying he doesn't have answers - which can be good, but in this case suggests to me an undercooked premise - whereas Tim was much more clear about the social aspects.

a weak "i'm sorry" means nothing. I'd want to see complete disownment of the GGers, an apology to those they falsely targeted (Zoe, etc), gotta disown it completely.

He says he's in a different place today so I'll take his word for it unless he does something to show otherwise.

apart from all the other tweets he's made, and which have been detailed in this thread, from just a few months ago...

dont know if this was already posted, but it seems like this story has no agenda whatsoever

Idk if I can handle such advanced storytelling

I thought the writer might have been unaware of who the developer was, but with the hand-waving away of any criticism as people being 'haters' and this tweet...

Disgraceful.

Him doing the opposite of what he's saying and managing to contradict what was already a pretty vague apology is not giving me confidence.

But if he explained himself in more detail and pursued actions that demonstrate his alleged change of heart such as denouncing and condemning the harassment campaign he promoted and apologizing to it's victims directly that would help lend some credence.

Exactly this.

Can you two explain this, from April 2017, to me?

YESTERDAY he liked a gamergate article

is that hard to understand?

Eh, I'm all against this guy, but he didn't like a gamergate article, his writer who was in this thread did.

Well thia guy is so indefensible at this point that at least the thread is proving useful to tell the desirable users from the rest.

Those Notch tweets are even worse. What the fuck am I reading!?

Notch is on a league of his own, yeah. The guy is amazing and has been for a while now.

Yes that's probably why he deleted his account on the forum he was part of, where he said similar stuff not so long ago, one hour after Last Night being presented on Xbox's E3 show.

(Spoiler : He's the same person)

And to think I felt bad for Notch when he first got his Minecraft cash from Microsoft and was clearly in the dumps/extremely depressed about how to handle the new challenges of wealthy life

Now fuck that goon
