Xbox One X Enhanced - Branding for games with Visual/Performance Improvements

I'm so excited for Witcher 3. I've been putting off Blood and Wine for just this possibility. Also got Wolfenstein sitting there waiting to be played (which is dynamic res I believe), and the new one looks fantastic.

When are we going to get a hardware sitdown? I want to see some of these titles alpha patches and games like Halo 5 in the hands of digital foundry.

Replay for Witcher 3 on One X, and first playthrough of Wolfenstein on One X for me. Stoked!

I mentioned in another thread, it may already be supported because it uses dynamic scaling.

I believe it caps at 1080p... I don't think they implemented the ability for it to scale past that.
I could be wrong, but I don't think I am.

Also, even if it did scale to 4K...no 4K textures unless they do an official update, in which case, it would be on the list.

Halo 5 doesn't scale above 1080p. It is currently not supporting 4K at all otherwise you would see the game listed as 4K capable on the Xbox.com website.

Exactly... Which is criminal.
Halo 5 game should absolutely be on their list of enhanced games for XOneX..

with 60FPS distant enemies...

some info for the OP

Q: Will my Xbox One games, including those that support Backward Compatibility, play on Xbox One X?
A: Yes! As one of the key components of the Xbox One family of devices is parity across consoles. The biggest difference is that your games will play better on Xbox One X.
Q: How do I know if a title is enhanced for Xbox One X?
A: There will be a new ”Xbox One X Enhanced" icon on the front of our game packaging, and in the Xbox Store, to let gamers know when a developer has done special work to take advantage of Xbox One X's 6 teraflops of performance, and to distinguish it from existing Xbox One titles.
Q: What does ”Xbox One X Enhanced" mean?
A: If a game has the Xbox One X Enhanced logo, this means developers have done some work to improve an existing title or implemented the most recent developer tools to fully take advantage of Xbox One X's power. Overall, games will play better on Xbox One X. Even if it isn't enhanced, but the Xbox One X Enhanced logo will help consumers identify games that are making the most of its hardware.
Dozens of titles will be enhanced to take advantage of the power of Xbox One X with many available in 4K resolution, and we expect that number to grow in the coming months. When Xbox One X launches this November, new games packaging will clearly show what a title supports:

Some of those games i would be very surprised if they are native 4k but if they are then brilliant.

Hot damn.

So much for Scorpio not being able to reliably hit 4k.

I could be wrong, but I don't think I am.

Also, even if it did scale to 4K...no 4K textures unless they do an official update, in which case, it would be on the list.

Surely that would be fairly easy to implement to increase the cap on the dynamic scaler - at a minimum. I imagine they'll do it, it just doesn't make sense not to.

Isn't supersampling and 16xAF default for all games ? Do they need patch for these ?

16AF for all games (no patch needed for all games including 360 BC catalog and coming OG Xbox BC catalog)

Supersampling only for games with a frame buffer above 1080p (already released games need a patch because the games resolution of the frame buffer has to be increased)

As gamz said those capabilities are handled on system level automatically.

Depends which games you're talking about I guess. Any "new" games that know about the 1X will supersample by default. The game will run at it's max resolution internally within the box and then get downscaled to 1080p or upscaled to 4k (if it's not native 4k already).

Old games with dynamic resolutions will run at whatever resolution they can natively, and then upscale or downsample as needed to fit your TV. I suspect a lot of them were probably locked to a max of 1080p so they're not going to go above that without a patch.

I *believe* the 16AF is done bf default on every game, including BC games.

What get's less mention, but IMHO could be really nice, are the load times. Especially with BC games the extra RAM can be used as harddrive cache space and so load times could be considerably lower.

Interested about gow 4 and horizon 3

We know about gears upgrade. What about horizon ? Frame rate ? Resolution ? I stopped playing a while back

Sooooooo.

Think SONY partnership with 3rd party will hold back Xbox One X titles?

I can't think of this happening with the original consoles. PS4 titles ran at 1080p and Xbox One didn't.

Granted once again, 60fps is not being touted as a standard feature.

I think we are sailing really close to the wind in terms of having "resolution exclusives" due to marketing deals.

MS Marketing didn't hold back Pro enhancements last year... i.e. BF1, FIFA, etc.

I would certainly hope not.
