I like the art style, but I don't like the graphics. I don't know if it's the textures or the resolution, but I think it's a step down from Xeno X.

This is the Angry Simius, from Xeno X:

This is a very similar creature in Xeno 2:

Again, opinions and all, I'm not saying you guys are crazy for liking this, but I think this is pretty disappointing. I'm not shit posting, I love Xenoblade. I just hope they improve the graphics, but I'm sure I'll enjoy the game anyway.

Not a very good comparison. The bottom pic is extremely compressed and lighting is completely different, day vs night shot.

I mean, i listed the aspects where XB2 is technically better than X. It's not hard to spot them in that gameplay segment even with the shitty stream, really.

If you just want to be sure just go to the part inside the town and compare that to NLA.

One's a day time screenshot in high-res, the other's a night time one in low-res, so that's not a fair comparison. I understand your sentiments, though.

I think people have to remember that this game is still a ways off, of course the textures are not going to be as polished as they will be in the final product. One of the first things they said on the stream was that the graphics were unpolished and that they were still working on that aspect. Even then, the lighting is leagues better than X, and the characters and their costumes are quite detailed, at least compared to most of the costumes in the other games.

Again?! Lighting and materials are a giant step ahead, foliage is better, character models, reflections and shadows are better, even polycount is much higher comparing for example the town we saw with NLA. The only things about on par with X are pop in and lod, which are bad on both, but here they have a few months to make it better.

Talking is cheap. Do you have some examples?

Like let's take foliage. Not very obvious I would say.

I give you lighting, but you have also a lot less verticality of the environment and the FoV is more limited.

Just finished watching the demo stream. I was not expecting it for it to have a demo, wish they showed a couple cutscenes, but can't complain.

The whole driver thing seems confusing.

In terms of foliage I don't really see much of a difference. If anything, Xeno 2's foliage looks a bit more densely packed compared to X. As for verticality, I imagine later game areas will have much more of this, especially considering that original had areas as vertical as Valak mountain and Mechonis field as well as areas as open as Gaur plains and Eryth Sea. I doubt it will be as vertical as X, but then again it doesn't have to be since there's no mechs in this game.

Not a fan of the character designs in general. A lot of the characters straight up remind of a Gust game. I'm assuming the cool dude in the mask is the Nomura design?

it's not very pretty from a purely technical viewpoint, especially considering it's on the newest Nintendo platform but might be less impressive graphically than the Wii U game

I am looking forward to this game, and still think it looks good, but agree it seems like a graphical step down from "X" in terms of the enemies and environments. Character models are better though.

I'm fine with the graphics (even though it's below my expectations), I'm more annoyed with the crazy grass and enemy pop-in's, which by now is a standard in the Xenoblade games, but c'mon, at least try to get rid of that shit.

Plus, I'm watching again the gameplay segment from Treehouse because I thought that I missed something and I checked also the screenshots from the press site, but I don't see where did you see improved shadows and reflections. They seem exactly the same to me as they were in Xenoblade X.

And the town does look nicer and more polished, I said it myself earlier, but nothing that out of the ordinary from a technical point of view.

They did mention in the direct that they were able to progress very fast with the development of this game because they were using the same engine from XCX. The big difference is the artstyle they are using. I totally understand people who prefer one over the other, but coming here to say XC2 looks like a dreamcast game is just dumb.

That Treehouse demo definitely sold me on this. The Blade customizations and combo lines seem like it could lead to a lot of depth in combat, and the world itself seems pretty interesting.

I'm glad we're back to useful Nopon party members instead of fucking Tatsu.

It's weird because the voice acting of the first game was 10/10 and I don't think there was anything wrong with the character despite the Wii limitations.

Two things I do very much like though is the story premise and combat. I was never a fan of Xenoblade's combat, and it looks more streamlined here. Thankfully, Soul Voice is gone. Absolutely hated that system.

The gameplay in the Treehouse looked nice, it doesn't seem as busy and difficult to read as Xenoblade X.

I still hope there is enough international backlash to Pyra's clothes design because it is really terrible.

You can clearly tell who hasn't played Xeno from the beggining.

Pros

-Gorgeous visuals (art direction is blatantly better than previous games)
-Environments are still on point
-DAT MUSIC
-British voices
-Gameplay looks promising

Cons

-Spotty voice acting (MCs should sound WAY younger, and the main dude especially struggles at emoting)
-Some of the character designs are ehhhhh
-Not enough British voices

Why doesn't Pyra actually turn into a sword? I was hoping for this:

I at least liked the environments, they tend to be really good at creating interesting looking places and creatures.

I was kind of waiting for this in the trailer, too. It'd also prevent the blades from having to stand around in the background not really doing much during battles. >_> Looks a little awkward.

He's a pretty swell guy in my books anyway.

It's just weapon changes but tied to characters. I'm sure it's mainly for the story characters and most of them will be grunts like the two they showed.

Overall it seems to be a more subtle evolution of the last two combat systems than I was thinking, which is fine. I'm curious if there's any affinity in this game though, I didn't really notice it.

I am absolutely loving this, I can't understand the complaints at all. The blades system looks super interesting, the party members shown look great, the concept of titans is exactly what I hoped for, the areas are as beautiful as ever and the music is the best in the biz. The fact that it is actually coming out this year has me so excited for the holidays. Hope it comes out in December and I can just laze about at my parent's house playing Xenoblade 2 on my Switch.

The blades system looks like something out of Final Fantasy Brave Exvius. It's like your at the mercy of a good roll. It feels like it's made to have micro transactions in it to purchase more crystals for Blade rolls...loot box style.
