I still think Dominaria doesn't land till the Fall. The Spring set will be the calm before the storm- a one off journey to catch up with Teferi or Karn chasing the Phyrexians somewhere, leading into a core set featuring iconic phyrexian and coalition themed cards from the past before heading into a larger scale conflict on Dominaria in the Fall and into 2019.

It's not even like Temur Energy running a lot of the same cards is a bad deck.

Bristling Hydra is a huge fucking beating. Especially if it's the follow up to a Rhonas, which I think is a card that will start seeing play.

Yeah, but there is a D.Va skin I will never be able to get in Overwatch because I will -never- install and play Heroes of the Storm. If I could pay $10 for it, i'd probably do it!

I swear they said that D.Va Skin was going into loot boxes eventually.

EDIT: Now that I've pulled 2 Oketras and 2 Cat Lords I really wish Oketra was a cat and made cat tokens.

Thank the lord I can buy that Diva skin!
Now I want a way to get that Paladin avatar in HS without installing WOW, which I've never actually played but I'm somehow banned from?

I feel like Temur Energy doesn't even seem that bad against Gideon decks, with Glorybringer in there. I'm saying that because Gideon is gonna be fucking everywhere again.

Brave the Unknown as you venture to the new world of Ixalan, where all we know so far is that Pirate Vraska battles Dinosaurs. But do you need anything more? Find out when Ixalan releases September 29.

Stake Your Claim on January 19, 2018, as the second set in Ixalan block releases with Rivals of Ixalan.

Explorers of Ixalan is an out-of-the-box multiplayer Magic experience that challenges you to defeat your opponents along the way as you search for the lost city. Begin your exploration on November 24, 2017.

The Art of Magic: The Gathering—Ixalan will be available January 2, 2018. Set sail for the uncharted jungles of Ixalan, where dangerous beasts, magnificent ruins, and lost treasures lie waiting to be discovered. Saddle up your Dinosaur mount and brave the unknown as you search the plane for a prize forgotten by history . . . until now!

Duel Decks: Merfolk vs. Goblins, which releases November 10, 2017, pits two of the most recognizable tribes in the history of Magic against one another with two ready-to-play 60-card decks. Will you side with the reckless and wily Goblins or the graceful and cunning Merfolk?

From the Vault: Transform takes the From the Vault series and, well, flips it. From the Vault: Transform, which releases November 24, 2017, collects fifteen of our favorite transforming cards, each with its own story to tell.

On April 28, 2018, we look to the past to move forward as we return to Dominaria with our next large set!

As part of our celebration of our 25th anniversary, we will be releasing a 25th anniversary–edition Masters set on March 16, 2018. The product will contain 249 cards from across Magic's entire history and will provide a drafting experience like previous Masters products. Available in English, Japanese, and Simplified Chinese.

On July 20, 2018, we once again will be introducing core sets back into Magic. We've got some tweaks to the formula prepared, so look for more information as we get closer.
We're (finally) traveling back to the wacky world of silver-bordered cards when Unstable releases December 8, 2017.

Dinosaurs and hidden treasure hunts making me get mad hype for Ixalan. Plus we get a new Vraska, who certainly can't be as bad as her last card.

Mesoamerica + Dinosaurs has always seemed like an obvious choice to me, and pirates are just gravy there.

Dominaria, to no one's surprise.

Another Masters set? Really? Are these gonna be biannual now?

Lol at a new Unset. I'm in though for at least a draft or two.

Ixalan is an El Dorado thing. Awesome!

For centuries, the untamed jungles of Ixalan have hidden a coveted secret: Orazca, the city of gold. But no secret can remain undiscovered, and no treasure can be taken uncontested. Unfurl your sails, saddle up a dinosaur, and battle your rivals as you embark on a journey to claim the plane's greatest fortune for yourself!

Rivals of Ixalan:

The legendary city of Orazca has been found, but it will not be claimed without a fight. Now, you must outpace, outwit, and overpower your rivals as you vie for control of this ancient metropolis. Succeed, and you will wield the greatest power of the plane.

I can't believe From the Vault is still a thing. Also, Transforming cards? Are there even 15 that people would want in any capacity?

I guess they changed the name Atlazan because it's nearly identical to Aztlán. With that in mind, I wonder why people thought it would be an Atlantean Plane when the Aztec connection is so obvious

anyway, I think it's going to be an awesome plane, thematically. Yeah, I said that about Kaladesh and Amonkhet too, but this time I'm really feeling it. The name of the second set in the block makes it sound like we get factions ala Tarkir

Hah, I was really hoping they'd go for a new Un set once they started doing off cycle sets. Really curious to see more.

New block sounds dope! Dinosaurs and pirates and El Dorado, oh my!

Amonkhet worked well on a thematic level, it just wasn't exactly the straight Egypt it looked like it could be.

Lord of Atlantis better not be the foil.

People thought it was gonna be both, the mesoamerican connection was found out immediately there was a literal mayan calendar on the packaging.
and look, once again the art checks out.

I'll spend $0 on an Unset

nah, I think Amonkhet is pretty disappointing. Just one city again, with a weird Hunger Games theme. No factions, the gods unanimously work together on their silly trial thing, and the way they implemented them as cards isn't anything special. The adventures of the Gatewatch aren't really worth mentioning, as per usual
The Hour of Devastation trailer at the end of the announcement video has a giant locust man and I hate it?
that looks awesome

Finally people will shut up about getting another Un-set.

Nothing too surprising in these announcements, I'm looking forward to all the major releases. Masters 25 could be really dope.

Ixalan is an El Dorado thing. Awesome!

Not to dive into pop culture politics right away but I'm suuuuuper curious how they handle something like this

I'd more or less "forgotten" El Dorado, then suddenly it pops up in the Black Panther teaser and here again. I guess it's the new thing?

Oh shit, Pro Tour Ixalan mixes thing and top 8 is booster draft!

Even as someone who really likes draft, this seems like a bad idea. Congratulations - your Pro Tour Champion who opened two bomb rares and on-color removal! Yay!

I honestly think Amonkhet did turn out really well as a setting

Glad I made my last post.

Everything looks great, except perhaps the From the Vault. Especially excited that they got Richard Garfield for Dominaria.

Anyone want to make a trolling thread in OT about Magic using feathered dinosaurs?

Well you're nuts. Discard 1 vs Exile 2, deal 7 to the dome for -4 vs -11, it's no contest. Which is how planeswalker pack planeswalkers should be of course, but make no mistake, this is WAY worse than Bolas, God Pharaoh.
Protects itself with card advantage, Is a clock when ticking up, ultimate wins the game when you're ahead. Not saying he's better but he has less of the issues I have with the God Pharaoh.

We don't know how much loyalty he has but this one can just alternate ticking up and down very efficiently.

Unstable = Barf.

Comedy is hard, and I've never laughed at anything WoTC has ever produced. I am fully braced for horrible memes and more MTG in-jokes that are not funny. Still buying at least a handful of packs.

Garruk
Huntmaster
Delver
Baby Jace
Avacyn

um...

Nissa?
Gisela?
Bruna?

er...

Elbrius?
Westvale Abby?

Are they going to count the flip cards from Kamigawa for this?

I've been saying for years that Return to Dominaria would happen for Magic's 25th but I'm glad it's finally confirmed. Give me those new slivers!

Also, third Unset...wonder how they're going to hook people. More full art basics?
