The most profitable route for Sony is the route that they are taking at the moment. Have Marvel Studios make Homecoming 1 & 2 for them and then, once the contract is up, simply remove Spidey from the MCU and plug him straight into the 'knock off' Spidey verse they are putting together themselves with Venom etc.

At this point, with Venom already dated, the die is already cast.

Uhhh they have Venom slated for next year. The Homecoming sequel hits after that and you bet your ass they're going to sign a deal for a third movie. Tom Holland's Spider-Man is not going to be in those spinoffs.

The path Sony is taking now has them making Spider-Man spinoffs that don't feature Spider-Man. Venom, if it actually gets made, could find some small success but you bet your ass no one cares about freaking Silver Sable and Black Cat. So those movies either don't get made or they find miniscule commercial success compared to the MCU Spidey movies. At that point it becomes obvious that it's a bad strategy and they realize the best path forward is to keep making movies with Marvel.

True, but Sony are already in a situation where they had to bring in another studio to basically show them how to make Spider-Man films. There's only so much a corporate ego can take before something has to give.

Helmet-less Cap was good but I don't think any helmet design would've worked on that outfit. The clothing was just too fitting and streamlined for a helmet to not stand out.

I didn't like Ultron's face. Would've much preferred the gaping maw from the comics.
