Mafia 3 maybe is not the best looking game or best game overall but damn that writing and acting is one of the best in recent years. And atmosphere in some of the missions there is perfect.

I was unsure whether I would post about this game released in 2015 and owned by 3 people in my list of contacts

Then I saw the most recent review, and I thought it was pretty cool to have this game automatically pop.
Maybe the reviewer is a friend of the devs.

If you want to have a look at the most recent list by yourself:
- an anime-friendly ranking,
- if you don't want to see any anime, it is here.

Also, why do 17 people own the following game despite it never being bundled? And nobody played it, nor even idled it for the trading cards!

Oh wait, is Grimoire the game made by that nutter?

EDIT - Looks possible.

Yes, the developer's titanium bones story is incredible.

"The cab driver checked his rear fender and it was crumpled a good 3 inches, a bit of work for a smash repair. He almost asked me if I had collision details, then realized I was a man, not a truck and he decided he'd best just leave the scene if I seemed to be unhurt. He got back in and sped off."

With Russian CD Keys, they are only runtime restricted if the package has "Can only be run in specific regions" Right? If it only has cross region trading and gifting restricted it's still safe?

Nier patch 'update':
When asked for an update on this, a Square Enix representative offered Eurogamer the following statement:

"Square Enix and PlatinumGames are working with PC device manufacturers, like AMD, to address the issues with the Steam version of the game. With AMD's help, Square Enix and PlatinumGames have successfully resolved some of the issues, and we hope to achieve similar results with other hardware makers. We appreciate your continued patience and support for NieR: Automata."

That was a bad bundle for me with three duplicates, Dark Souls 2, Hyperlight Drifter and Galactic Civilizations 3. GC3 I got in a Humble Bundle earlier this year like I assume a lot of other people here did as well. If they're going to pad the monthlies with repeats moving forward I'm out for good.

I've wanted to play Kero Blaster for a while, so I'll take that. Armello looks interesting, and I've definitely looked at it in the store before. It worries me looking at the store page that it has both a bunch of DLC packs and micro transactions - including the shitty crate and jey system Valve games uses. Having not played it yet it looks like a game that either should have been, or is being prepared for going free to play.

Edit: Oh, and it's a multiplayer focused game as well. I shouldn't have activated the key...

YouTuber MetalJesusRocks just landed 600 mint condition, big-box PC games for $75 on Craigslist.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qy8bo6d6fvs

Man, what a haul!

I been following Metal Jesus and LGR for awhile now, and I'm glad Metal Jesus scored on this deal, I see a lot of jealous comments but at least we know those games are in good hands and get they love they deserve. Personally I don't have the room for all those big boxes and rather have them on steam to save space, but I would've paid the seller $100 for being an awesome seller. Congrats to Metal Jesus for this awesome haul!

Wow. Apparently, the game WWE 2k16 which we received in a Humble Monthly was patched last May, and both multiplayer and character customization were removed from the game, so that customers who like these features have to upgrade to WWE 2k17.

I have not played this game since I got it with the Monthly, and I think I will never play it.

I'd better try that basket ball game before 2K pulls a similar move by the end of this year.

This is why I hope one day steam has a version control way so that you can choose to go back to an older version, especially when shit like this happens or when new patch breaks the game

Well that's understandable for reverting back to previous versions but they still wouldn't host the game servers for people like 2k or whomever who just flip a switch and it's dead if it requires their backend

I guess that's part of why everyone gets so annoyed when they say PC versions don't get the option to have dedicated servers because of future proofing

Well and hosting your own servers are awesome

Gentlemen, we can rebuild it. We have the capability to make the world's first enhanced store. Steam will be that store. Better than it was before.
This is why I hope one day steam has a version control way so that you can choose to go back to an older version, especially when shit like this happens or when new patch breaks the game

I mean, they kinda already have this although it's not exposed to the UI and requires the use of console commands to download individual data depots and then moving them into place yourself. I agree 100% this should be something easy to do and directly from the client UI.

Sadly this won't fix issues related to multiplayer games as it's inevitable that servers will shut down or no longer be maintained as appears to be the case with last year's wrasslin game.

EDIT: here is a pretty good visual walkthrough of how this is done

Does the game not have an in-game character creator? I mean, I get the frustration at the lack of online support, but it's something of an eventuality when it comes to server-based features.

I mean, if the backend is down yeah, you can't do much. Agreed on hosting your own servers (unless your internet is dial up, then please do not host them)

Still, version control I find would be a good idea

Yeah from the sound of it you can still create your own characters, you just can't download any uploaded by anyone else anymore, which is still pretty shitty after such a short time.

What about Nvidia users though? Or at least proper fullscreen patch?
I think AMD just offered them to fix the game for them. I don't think Square intends to spend a single cent on post-launch support. Since Near a Tomato seems to be (among) their best selling PC games, the strategy seems to be working for them.
I guess we should expect all future Squenix games to release extremely late, with host of issues at release, to be fixed by some dedicated fan, and then no support whatsoever from the developer. Should increase their sales by quite a bit, going by empirical evidence.

So if Half-Life 3 is out of question, are there any news or leaks about any other games from Valve like L4D3, Portal 3, TF3? Any news about updating their old games with full fledged Source Engine 2.0 version and not like the very light version seen in Dota 2?
Seriously, are Valve so afraid that their engine can't keep up with the tremendous amount of great engines this gen, seeing that they were pioneers at their time with Source Engine (not surprising since there was almost no competition at that time), that is why they are delaying any game using it to an unknown date?

- No
- CS:GO will be moved to Source 2 in the future a la Dota 2
- Valve doesn't care about being competitive in the engine licensing space; that's never been its bread and butter

I think Valve's just going to repeat what it did with Source, more or less: the first SDK will be released alongside the first fully-fledged Source 2 game and it'll see only the very occasional major update. Similarly, there'll be a licensing option for those who want to release a commercial product, but it'll exist primarily as an option for modders to make a few bucks, which is to say it won't have the level of support from Valve that, say, UE4's SDK does from Epic.

With Russian CD Keys, they are only runtime restricted if the package has "Can only be run in specific regions" Right? If it only has cross region trading and gifting restricted it's still safe?

It's been happening with a lot of steam games lately. I even saw Pathfinder Adventures was delayed almost a whole day

Games aren't unlocked automatically; publishers have to flick the switch themselves. Sometimes they forgot to either do that, which results in the game showing up in the New Releases list as "Coming Soon" as Steam thinks it's supposed to be available, or update the release date.

Doctor Who must be back, then. I just hit 500 games. So does that mean the Doctor Who game is my 500th game? Or was it that Samantha Swift hidden object game that I won earlier today? Ah well.

So I bought a game during the sale as a gift to a friend, scheduled to be delivered in a few days. Only I just saw they got the game themselves today. What will happen to the gift now? Will they receive it anyway and just not be able to accept it? And after that I'll receive a refund? Also, will this refund affect the cards drop rate?

fucking call centers, at least when you call the argie national bank you get a tired, easily irritable person on the line instead of these script reading robots that just go DOES NOT COMPUTE the second you don't remember one random detail about your credit card to confirm your identity

what's worse is that they didn't ask me all these questions the first two times i called

literally all my subscriptions to everything are now dead because of these idiots

Is it right you can still see the games in your library and play them they just dont show up as a +1 anymore?

So I finally got around to watching the Nolip documentary series for Doom 2016 a couple of days ago. It was really, really good. If you are a fan of the game then you owe it to yourself to check it out.

It's a three part series where they talk about the famously troubled version of Doom they were making that had to be scrapped. Then they discuss which design ideas had to be dropped, which ones lived on and how they arrived at the general irreverent tone that the final game had. In one video they go into detail about how the intro level was designed and it's really interesting to see how much thought went into crafting what I consider the best game opening in recent memory. It ends with an interview of Mick Gordon who composed the badass soundtrack for the game.

The documentary is mostly interviewing two senior devs at id software and they're both funny and super passionate about their work. It's just a really good insight into how the game was made. I'll be honest, I did not think id had it in them to pull off such an amazing game. I was so happy to be proven wrong.

Dang, wish I'd know about this before!

Unfortunately, getting in on a group buy as opposed to just a split can be difficult since only a few people host and they generally limit the amount of bundles to two groups of 20, most slots of which are pre-filled. There are a couple of users who stock up when the time is right and sell the bundle once it's no longer available, though, which is still better than buying at even the early bird price.
