Surprised nobody is predicting Newcastle in the bottom 3.

It could be a long season for us if Shelvey, Gayle and Ritchie get injured or don't perform consistently.

I joined the league.

I'm surprised people are putting Watford so low. I think they'll be decent this year. Like their manager.

Yes they got mugged by getting 200 million plus for a single player lol

But what good is 200m if you can't find a good replacement for him.

I don't get why Barca set the buyouts on their stars so low.

300m for Messi is nothing now considering the player you would get.

Just got the email from World Soccer Shop, that I can now purchase a new PSG Neymar jersey...

Neymar should have sold himself to mancity or chelsea if he really wanted to break away from messi.

No one cares about the french, no one buys PSG shirts. He is getting zlatan'd, scores tons of goals, walk away with the domestic titles but won't get upvoted to top 3 for baloon door.

He can definitely win a Ballon. If he wins Ligue 1, the Champions League and leads Brazil to a successful tournament (they don't have to win but go far and Argentina/Porugal can't win) all in 2017-2018. That is one tall order but it's not like he will be winning it at Barcelona anytime soon. The more probable scenario is people will be interested in PSG and Ligue 1 for a year or two and then forget about him until Champions League rolls around every year.

I wonder how much PSG will make from Neymar shirt sales.

Not much. Shirt deals are basically all up front payments for the first x shirts, or that the manufacturer gets 85% of the shirt and the club might get name/number profits. I remember one calcualtion that for United to sell enough shirts to pay for Pogba, we'd need to sell like 3.3m all with "Pogba 6" on the back using generous numbers. Less shirts are sold than it seems.

Many numbers

Average yearly shirt sales from 2011-2016

Manchester United 1,750,000
Real Madrid 1,650,000
Barcelona 1,278,000
Bayern Munich 1,200,000
Chelsea 899,000

Also saw this which made me laugh, sure to upset the rags

Chelsea's focus is wingback, midfielder and a striker. I doubt if we will spend 50+ on a CB.
Though I am expecting some major signings.
I will go crazy if we get Sanchez. Sanchez+Hazard together will cause havoc.

Hey Guys

Just to put the Sanchez move to bed, he kissed the shirt in training for Arsenal TV yesterday, and Wenger has said he is staying, and he respects the club position, it looks like Van Dilk is to miss the start of the season as he is not training, I don't see how he can join Liverpool, so I expect he will move elsewhere

in fact Wengers statement almost seems like they accept he is leaving on a free

"The only thing I can tell you is he is focused," said Wenger.

"My decision is clear - he will stay and he will respect that."

The Frenchman, 67, said he would no longer speak publicly about speculation over Sanchez's future, adding: "It is not information anymore, it is suicide.

"He will be here for this season and if we manage to do it for more seasons, we will do it as well."

New thread is ready to post but can't get a single mod to message me back about posting the thread in off-topic. 🙄

Give it a few hours and just try it with a disclaimer or something that even a couple of weeks would do to get us into the season with more members to actually qualify as a community.

They might be discussing it to be fair.

Why does it have to be Van Dijk for Liverpool? Isn't there any other good center back around?

This is the biggest problem with Liverpool's transfer policy this summer. They were after specific players and had no alternatives. Now we will start the season with a squad just as paper thin as last year and probably crumble in January again. He will likely refuse to buy someone in January again as well.

I don't know for the life of me why they are so against alternatives, they should have realised that Keita and VVD were 50/50 at best. I remember when we wanted Poborski back in the day, missed out and got Patrik Berger instead - the single greatest player of ALL TIME. Depay/Firmino was another great example.

So wait lemme get this straight, PSG gave Neymar's goons the release clause money so he could pay himself out?

Wow that's a crazy way to get around rules if true.

This means nothing in football nowadays.
Nearly every single player is a mercenary, which is fine imo.

I agree though, he's not leaving this summer. He'll go for free next year and get his massive sign on fee.

The annoying thing for me is not Sanchez leaving, but how we've completely bungled his contract.
We're letting at least ~£70m worth of talent go for nothing!

Rafa should keep you guys up even if he has one of the worst 3 squads in the league.

The thing Newcastle fans should be worried about is Ashley and Rafa falling out, and Rafa getting fired after pushing things with the board too much. If that happens then it will be difficult for them

I just outright refuse to predict Huddersfield to go down, I can't bring myself to do it.
Also been thinking Newcastle could definitely be down there, had a very quiet summer, injuries didn't stop them from winning the Championship but it definitely held them back a bit when Shelvey/Gayle were out. Depth could hurt them and if something goes wrong and Rafa leaves then they'll struggle.

Seems like Perisic is going to stay at Inter and renew his contract.

I don't know if I should be happy because I don't want him at United or sad because we can't attract a mid tier player like him anymore...

Dont know if this was mentioned yet but here the legendary PES Cover that comes out next month Suarez is probably gonna be on the normal cover now.

I love that Sergi is on the legendary cover they better not change that part on the possible new cover.

? . It's more like United don't want to pay Inter's ridiculous demands?

Yeah, we ideally need at least another couple signings (striker and LB ideally), but making sure Rafa stays for the season will actually decide if survive or not. If he stays I can see us around 14th/15th. If we keep messing him about with funding and he walks at some point, we're nailed on to go down.

Don't think he will walk.

He might piss off Ashely so much that he forces his own sacking though

If Perisic really wanted to go Inter would cave.
All indications/reports over the past 2 months are that he wants to go?
Not all players throw a fit/refuse to train/play when they want to leave.
It's just that Inter want 50m (lol) or Cash + Martial (lol) in return.
