That's all of them. Full pics for Mila, Nyo and one of Hayate's not appearing on UK PSN, but I'm sure they'll be floating around somewhere.

One thing I really hope for in DOA6 is to add some toning to the women. The men are shredded, and you'd expect the majority of these martial artist women to have at least some definition on their stomachs too.

Thanks again. Brad, Rig and Jacky got the short end of the stick. Their lack of shirtlessness is an issue. And as I said before, only two speedos is pretty lame.

Thankfully most of my favs got a fairly decent outfit, but I think the first swimsuit set for the guys was better overall. I appreciate that they finally gave the guys some more though, and it's cool that every set this season will have alts for the entire roster, sans Mai.

Cool, nice preview while deciding which ones to pick up later.

Raidou will be back. He has his two bad little kids to deal with. Everybody else is fair game. Mai might happen again depending how well Geese does in Tekker. She's always in cross overs.

All this talk about Rachel really makes me want more of a Ninja Gaiden focused story in DOA6, like Rachel, Momiji and Ryu fighting a new arch fiend that is the final bossof the game. Nyotengu would come to the real world looking for Ryu and ends up meeting Marie Rose who would take care of her for a while since she might be interested in the world Nyo comes from since she's a horror fan so monsters would interest her (and that way you explain why Nyotengu and MR have tag throws). Man, the wait for DOA6 is killing me!

To be fair, Ryu saves the day in most DOAs already :p

As said during that last session, I can see Mai coming back, but certainly not for free or at launch.

Only way she's free is if TN has some deal inked. Otherwise probably year 2 dlc.

Naotora is TN co made so she is the easiest to put in. I think the VF people are here to stay currently just need Vanessa so she can sass Zack.

I could see Mai and a since VF character returning as representatives of DoA's inspirations - IIRC SNK (Playmore) wasn't too active on their game division around the time DoA5 was under development (KoF XIII's tournament life was notably neglected by the company at the time), which could have affected the ability to include Mai by default then along with the VF cast, but that no longer seems to be the case, and they've been quite open to collaboration for over a year.
Especially after DoA started backsliding into the fanservice that gave the series its reputation - Mai can play with that, and her moves have translated well into DoA's engine...

Jann Lee's McDonald's speedo, lol.

I wish this game was healthier on PC, so I could actually get good, and maybe buy some costumes for my characters and stuff.

Lyte Edge

All I got for the Vernal Equinox was this stupid tag
I wouldn't be expecting to see any of the guest characters back in a DOA sequel, not even Naotora Ii. Especially the Sega and SNK characters.

Misty is based off Mai, so there is a deep tie there.

I mean, there's some obvious design similarities there (I.E. Kasumi is a Mai rip-off), but...no.

Yeah I feel like the SEGA and SNK characters were a one off thing.

But the characters from KT's other franchises still have a pretty solid chance of showing up again IMO. Naotora li is probably gonna be DLC.

VF exists now only as tie ins and cross overs and multi partnership games.. I think they have a good shot, others are unclear.

Naotora has absolutely no reason to come back, unlike other characters that have a basic story tease written on the website.
They'll probably make another character with the same philosophy (combos/moves easy to make for everyone) though, especially since it was badly executed.
I'd love the VF ones to come back, but I'd be really surprised.

I really want my vf mains in doa6 if that would be possible.

VIRTUA FIGHTER ISN'T DEAD, SHUT YOUR FACE!

In all seriousness though, I don't consider it safe to proclaim any fighting series permanently dead so long as the IP had significant influence at any point. Sega is a company to routinely likes to cash in on nostalgia, so I wouldn't be surprised to see a new Virtua Fighter turn up when they decide they need a new 3D Fighter, now that fighter's are somewhat hot again. People were saying that Street Fighter was done before Street Fighter IV also... let alone Killer Instinct.

Hell, SEGA themselves revived Outrun in in 2003 (the first direct sequel to the 1986 game, and 11 years after the most previous recent spinoff entry), and just put a new Daytona USA in the arcades. And both of those required external licenses.

Between Konami killing off Hudson, the official website for the series having been shut down years ago, and Konami distancing themselves from video games in general, I'd consider it safe to say that Bloody Roar is permanently dead.

Pfft, Bloody Roar.

I believe I used the word significant. :D

It had a reasonably devoted following, up to and including enough support to get four mainline games (and a couple of side games). It's also something that often gets the gaming side to clamor for another installment, even with it being quite dead at this point.

The time between SF3s and SF4 is only one year less than the time between VF5FS and today.

Definitely dead.

Just put Vanessa in DoA6, please.

Sigh... my favourite fighting game series :(

Shit, there's more than one of you in here? Ok, I'd best apologise.

Nah, I'm just playing. When said significant though, I did really mean the handful of franchises that would be referenced by pretty much anyone detailing a timeline of the genre. Stuff like Street Fighter, Mortal Kombat, Virtua Fighter, Tekken, Dead or Alive, Soul Calibur, King of Fighters and even Killer Instinct would definitely count, whereas stuff like Bloody Roar, Tobal, Bushido Blade, Fighting Vipers, Eternal Champions etc whilst all having their fans I don't think would have the sort of pull that would justify their names being dug far into the future.

Killer Instinct was 17 years though. I'm gonna hold out hope for at least that long, lol.

We live in an age where Killer Instinct is alive, a Koei Tecmo game has characters from SEGA and SNK, a Namco Bandai game has characters from Capcpom and SNK, and there's gonna be a new Fighting Layer game.

Anything is possible.

And Shenmue 3 is in current development.

I am just saying that Sega is probably happy with the VF crossovers they make a decent clip from that, so they are content. That and Sega is very strange.

Counterpoint:

We don't have SC6.

All of your hope is a lie and the future is nothing but ash and dust.

Why did we never get Aoi into DOA5 though? I mean come the hell on.

Was she ever popular?
I mean, Akira and Sarah are obviously the faces of the franchise, and Jacky/Pai are just behind, but it gets harder to select characters after that.
On top of that, sorry if I'm wrong, but isn't her moveset a bit close to some other DOA characters?

Jacky to Jann-Lee and Akira to Kokoro are closer than any DoA character is to Aoi. Vanessa would be closer to Mila if added also.

If there's an aspect of Aoi's moveset that I could see making her less than ideal, it'd be that her fighting style is centred around reversals... which is somewhat unique in Virtua Fighter, but hilariously redundant in DoA.

Aoi in DoA would be one part redundant and about three parts garbo. I don't think she would work very well in the engine. I guess it depends on what they end up tweaking -- her low average throw damage would be even worse in DoA (where people get massive damage bonuses by getting throws on people during hold startup), especially when coupled with her low average attack damage. But then I could see things like her string cancels being all sorts of dumb in this engine, and then having little things like ground throws being guaranteed or weight mattering less than it does in VF. And as someone mentioned, her reversals are one of her defining traits in VF... but that's something literally everyone has in DoA.

Ten'chi stance in particular I could see being hugely problematic. Since DoA doesn't really have move attributes like VF, so unless they did something special it would beat every non-tracking high and mid in the game, which is a little crazy. That and with DoA's weird input handling, if they left it the default input she would be able to mash on stance during blockstun, which could turn real dumb real fast (and don't forget that unlike a normal hold, she can cancel the stance into movement).

There's a lot of places to fine-tune parameters, though. They could probably make the character work if they wanted to.

Project X Zone 2 had Kage Maru as a VF rep too, and as a ninja he'd make an insane amount of sense in DoA. Dural was in PXZ2 as well, but perhaps that'd be muscling too much into Alpha's territory.

Alpha X Dural tag throws would be brutal I'd imagine.

Kage would get exposed as being a pretty crap ninja in DoA's universe though, lol.

The idea is because she already has part of the idea of DOA's system built in. She has a lot more to her kit than just reversals, though. Akira and Pai had them in VF as well, though not as much as Aoi, of course.

I feel like ten'chi stance would be fine as it is, it's not like it's invincible. There are plenty of hits it can't grab, not to mention throws.

I see more reasons why she could be included than should be excluded, at least.
Hell, they've been sexing her up a bit in the past few games, so that fits too. :|

They could make it work, but I don't see how it would be easier than other characters. Aoi doesn't just have reversals on top of being on par in other areas. That'd be like giving Zangief a shoryuken. She has reversals at the expense of weaker offensive options than other characters. If carried over wholesale to Dead or Alive, other characters maintain the advantages they naturally have against her, whilst partially nullifying her main strength by effectively making it a universal option.

Now that I think about, we've basically had one DOA per generation.

Saturn, Dreamcast, Xbox, 360, PS4.

Although technically DC and Xbox were part of the same generation, but it just didn't feel like it.

Yea, not only are Dreamcast and Xbox the same gen, but Xbox had DoA Ultimate as well. And then the 360 has two DoA games (4 and 5, including Last Round), so this gen doesn't actually have an entry of its own yet.
