Seemed more more generous to the Switch version to do a single-platform comparison, and the release platforms are inconsistent between the two (no DQH1 on Vita). Why are you leaving out the PS3 and Vita versions?
Famitsu chart still lists it at 58k, so I'm not sure.Isn't DQH I-II around 70k now?

DQH2 including Vita sold somewhere closer to 550,000, while DQH1 sold in the ballpark of 830,000 (472,000 on PS4 alone).

DQ Heroes had an exclusive character and boss fight on Switch.

I was wrong about DQH2 not being on PS3 (it was further down the list than I thought), but what else is incorrect? All the numbers are from the Game Data Library charts.
It didn't sold 472k on PS4.
We could always talk about other 3rd party launch games like Puyo Puyo Tetris or Bomberman R. But those wouldn't suit a certain desperate narrative. We are really discussing DQH1+2 performance 6 months later ? Yup, slow week confirmed....well until the Direct and whatever implications the announcements will have on MC.
The first game sold more on PS3, on PS4 it did 360k nowhere near that 472k.I was wrong about DQH2 not being on PS3 (it was further down the list than I thought), but what else is incorrect? All the numbers are from the Game Data Library charts.
Yeah, my bad, I edited after realising that. Shouldn't be looking at numbers longer than 3 digits after 2am.
When for months we had the same posts repeating that Nintendo is unable to go away from 20k weekly shipmenst acceptance that this isn't true is remarkable.

Dragon Quest is a huge franchise, but that doesn't mean its a golden goose where everything will sell hundreds of thousands of units, the Heroes collection is a sub par port of two old games, one which isn't that good anyway, at an insane price. 60k is excellent for what it is.
Look up what old ports did on PS4 at launch, the Heroes collection has actually done better than most of them.
Not like Koei or Square has been tepid due to its performance, there's like 15 Switch games announced between the 2.
Right, I got the PS4 and PS3 numbers mixed up.
I assume by 'old ports' you don't include cross-gen games in that (which DQH1 and 2 were). I guess it depends on your definition, but assuming you mean "port of old game to new system, not simultaneous release on more than one system", there are:
Kingdom Hearts HD II.8 Final Chapter Prologue (205k)
Final Fantasy XII: The Zodiac Age (153k)
Final Fantasy Type-0 HD (145k)
Kingdom Hearts HD I.5 + II.5 ReMIX (127k)
God of War III Remastered (61k)
Devil May Cry 4: Special Edition (59k)
Uncharted: The Nathan Drake Collection (55k)
Final Fantasy X/X-2 HD Remaster (53k, PS4 sales only)
The Last of Us Remastered (52k)
Resident Evil 0 HD Remaster (49k)
Gravity Rush Remastered (31k)
Resident Evil HD Remaster (45k)
Valkyria Chronicles Remastered (44k)
There are some others, but these were the easiest to find. At a minimum, DMC4 and FF Type-0 were released in the first six months of the PS4's life in Japan.
So eventually something between 3.25-3.5M ltd for DQXI PS4+3DS when you throw in digital.
What was DQIX up to worldwide?
Not even one of those games is a late port...? They are all remastered versions, sometimes with added contents/better graphics, often released on a much higher installed base.
Over 4 million in Japan, 5 million worldwide.
Well, you'll have to forgive me if this is a stupid question then, but what would be considered a 'late port' on PS4? Are there any non-remasters that didn't see simultaneous (or very close) release if they were also on PS3 and/or Vita?
By old ports I meant old ports, Dragon Quest Heroes and Heroes II are 2 and 1 years old respectively.Right, I got the PS4 and PS3 numbers mixed up.

Almost everything you posted where either remakes or remasters, Heroes I & II on Switch are just ports of the PS3 games with mild improvements, out of everything you posted only DMC4 and The Last of Us are remotely alike.
I don't think it can break 4M in Japan. Maybe the Switch version can push it over that, but not 3DS+PS4.

Physical, no. But including digital I can see it happening. It sold 175K digital first two days, should probably be somewhere around 300-350K right now.
Splatoon 2 has passed 70% attach rate on the Switch in Japan on Famitsu, 67% on M-C.

DQIX LTD worldwide is 5.5M (shipment data)What was DQIX up to worldwide?
Isn't DQH I-II around 70k now?
3DS is 400k+ YOY. And still selling more on a weekly basis.
This is surely an unexpected performance. It will not probably keep up with late 2016 3DS but this will be another year above 2m units.
So only DQ Builders and PSO 2 announced in the Direct from Japan. Meanwhile Bethesda going all in..
That was a pretty weak direct tbh. Didn't really inspire much faith.
so, after the Direct, would you guys share your mind about Japanese third parties on Switch?
My take on the matter is well known and after today...
Really good and quality support by Japanese third parties. Square Enix is even more invested in Switch.

You should not expect any substential support from Japan until this time next year. They are caught off guard with Switch success and whatever they do to remedy that takes time.
Yes, SE is the Japanese Bethesda
too bad they are the only one, it seem. (maybe we could add Koei Tecmo...maybe?)
