Some one mentioned it much earlier when I first started posting about the lack of potatoes, and I definitely notice a difference between now and when I used to play. Kind of disappointing but I guess they need those plat sales.

It took me a really long time to figure out how to put those stars in the sculptures, it was not clear at all to me.

The only thing I need them to sell, they don't: WTH is with the low drop rates for Argon crystals? And it decays so you have to farm it as you need it, can't hoard 😕

Since returning to the game I've noticed rare resources drop much more frequently. Those rare resource containers didn't exist back in the day. It's still heavy RNG, I did one exterminate in the void and found 8 argon in that one mission alone, 4 from Crystal deposits.

Just do a low level exterminate and explore every nook and cranny. You can break the containers behind closed walls with explosives, long reaching melee, or punch through. Everyone used to run tons and tons of void missions for prime parts so a lot of the old hands know the Secret Places.

Sounds like you haven't yet had the pleasure of farming the 7k Oxium needed for Vauban Prime. Took me a week to get that, plus the 15 Nitain Extract...

BTW, are there other frames that require such elevated amounts of rare resources?

Why would you want to though, especially with the whole decay thing.

Just go to the void and break every container, open those lockers and kill some enemies, you'll get some.

Add a resource booster and/or Smeeta cat and you could have more

Yea Nekros and Valkyr need over 10k polymer bundles each

As for weapons:

Lanka needs 20 Gallum

Hema needed a ton of mutagen samples for the Clan research.

and a bunch more

Haha, no I've done that. I know the pain. Oxium is definitely a weird shitty resource, they added a ton of oxium and polymer bundle resource sinks that are new. I'm still saving up for my 30k cryotic I need for the Sibear

I was mostly talking about the traditional 'rare' resources: neural sensors, orokin cells, gallium, and morphics. Even tellurium is way more common now than it used to be, thanks to the Kuva fortress. You'd be lucky to get one orokin cell from a Ruk run, but I'm getting multiple now thanks to all the cell arrays around.

Nitain is a whole new thing too, but that was added after I stopped playing way back when.

I have heard from Veterans who were playing before i joined that acquiring oxium was much worse.

Each of those usually had a one mission you can run to have higher chances (eg run Alad V boss fight for Neural sensors) and that was before places like the Kuva Fortress appeared, but i'm fine with getting them easier. I feel argon has gotten to a similar point also since the Void is just a tileset now.

I like that the Tyl Regor rework allowed Gallium to be easier to acquire since it basically affected the entire planet.

LMAO Sibear was 30k Cryotic? I just crafted it together with like 20 other weapons for mastery and then sold it immediately because it's so ugly, rip I guess

Yeah, don't get me wrong, I'm saying it's way better now than it used to be. I don't want anyone to suffer through the shitty resource grind I used to do. For some reason I have over 200 gallium, so it's never been an issue for me. I think I did some long missions with resource drop chance and resource doublers a long time ago. EDIT: There was also a double resource weekend at some point, so people were getting 4x resource drops with doublers.

Morphics quickly become a non-issue after the mid game, they are available on many more worlds than neural sensors and orokin cells (I'm glad there is finally another place to send extractors when I want more neural sensors now).

Vauban and Valkyr prime are definitely nuts for the resources they require. I've emptied my oxium reserves multiple times since playing, I'm glad my buddy in my clan has 1000 more hours in the game than I do and resources are basically a non-issue for him, he spent about half of his oxium finishing up research in our shared dojo.

Nekros using despoil was netting me between 4-6k polymer bundle for 20 waves of a Uranus defense. Tons of people are there farming condition overload, so I never had problems finding a full squad.

Also Edit:

Haha, I hope you never have to make it again for some other weapon. I've been carefully not selling anything that is a bear and a half to craft.

I remember those bad old days of needing to farm those damned Corpus Oxium Ospreys for weeks. 60-minute runs in Defense or Survival back to back to back to arglebargleagggghhhhhhhh [thud]

Sorry.

Yeah, I think Oxium started the trend of crazy resource dumps required for things as an artificial gate on progress. There's always something new that's super rare, or they just up the amount of Cryotic needed for something.

EDIT: Reading the Wiki, I'd totally forgotten that when first introduced, those Oxium Ospreys would drop 1-2 Oxium each. I think I blocked that out of my memories due to the trauma.

Good lord, I had no idea oxium drops were that low initially. I remember when tellurium was first introduced and it either came from an alert, or MIGHT drop from the huge enemies when you are deep in an archwing interception. It was needed for all the new archwing stuff at the time and was one of the reasons I gave up the game at that point.

Nitain seems pretty similar, but there are at least consistent alerts for it each day.

Nidus is freaking fun, thanks to fellow gaffers for pointing it out instead of to farm it, since i'm not there yet bought the collection for the better.

It's always been streaky outside of Devstreams, and invasions have been in a dry spell for a couple months -- September only offered one reactor, and it was against a forma blueprint so it didn't last very long. August had four catalyst/reactors, but they were all before the 9th. July had three. Etc. We usually get two to four invasions a month on top of Devstream rewards. Sometimes invasions + Gift of the Lotus + tactical alert/event line up in such a way that you can get momentarily flush with the stuff, but there are probably always going to be weapons getting released faster than you can catalyze them if you're trying to not spend any plat.

Yeah, those were the bad old days. With opaque game mechanics and Vauban prime requiring 30,000 oxium with those drops rates.

It's times like these why, when they have sales on potatoes like they did for their anniversary sale, I buy a shitload of catalysts and a few reactors. Helps not having to worry so much about when the next invasion or alert is.

This is awesome!

Dang, I feel like I'm barely building enough stuff to keep up with how fast I get affinity with the 90-day booster active. It wouldn't be an issue if there was a resource booster in the Prime Access pack as well, but I totally understand that's unrealistic.

Is there any easy way to see what research projects are going on in the Dojo? I want to contribute, but going through every lab to check if anything's being researched sounds kinda awful.

Glad you're liking Nidus. Now you can go to the tenno lab in the dojo and grab Nezha's parts and craft him with the materials you're earning playing Nidus instead of buying him.

We have everything researched in the dojo that can be researched. Typically when they release new weapons, there's at least one or two that are in dojo research. New weapons won't be happening until at least PoE's release, so you've got a while to hoard more resources.

Yea they added more ways to get some of the resources with that whole "deposit" system where you can get a bundle of a resource by finding and open/break it.

Also reactor alert is up

I hit MR13 today and threw a Tigris Prime in the oven... Time to see what all the hype is about.

I also got Harrow and I have to say it's probably my favorite frame right behind Mesa... Really love the synergy of all the abilities. Arca Plasmor + Harrow is god like...

Arca Plasmor is just flat-out awesome full-stop. I think in the last 3 pub sorties i've run 3 out of 4 people have had it. I might be biased because the Lenz was my previous go-to, but it's just a damn fantastic gun all-around.

All true.

But I especially like it with Harrow since its one weakness, the reload speed, isn't an issue because of his 2.

The heals on headshot is also really forgiving since the spread of the Plasmor is so huge. Even if you mess up a direct headshot you'll still get some health back... Not to mention the punch through lets you hit multiple heads at once.

I haven't even put a forma into the Plasmor yet but I really should... One mod slot is completely empty for me at the moment and it still destroys.

I guess getting some forma up on it as well as the Tigris Prime should be my focus over the next few days.

Harrow is a lot of fun, you can tell they've learned a lot since their early frames, power design wise.

Tigris Prime shines if you have all the dual stat mods on it (the 4 different +elemental damage and +status). The way multishot and pellet weapons work, if you get to 100% with a shot gun (Edit, BEFORE you put on multishot mods, this is the important bit), every pellet will cause a status effect to proc. Then you slap on multishot (Hell's Chamber) and the Tigris Prime starts blasting out a billion slash procs that murder enemies really fast if you don't outright kill them.

I like the radiation+viral combination, but at a certain point (like above level 100) the corrosive+blast works better since you want to peel that armor off.

I have all of the dual stat mods except the electric ones which according to the wiki are Baro exclusive. Maybe I'll get lucky tomorrow and he'll have them...

Either way I'm sure he'll have something useful for me as Baro's last visit was the first time I ever had ducats to actually buy something from him.

Electric mods were two visits ago.
You can farm shotgun and rifle ones from eris hive sabotage.

Most people max a Vitality because it generally gives more suvivability than other mods for the game.
Good to know, thank you. I had been focusing on Redirection because shields regenerate and health does not on the frames that were initially available to me. (I did recently get a couple weapons with vampire on them which is nice.)

If that's the case i say concentrate more on getting the mods needed and endo to level them.

If you want to survive then level the health (Vitality) and armor (Redirection) mods as far as you can plus ensure your frames have those on them before anything else. You can level the armor one (Steel Fiber) as well but chances are the first 2 will be better for what you want to do.

Also once your mastery is higher the game will allow you have a certain amount of capacity available from the beginning so you can slot your mods to help with leveling.

What i usually do is go to low level planets and solo them until i'm at level 10 (which is where all abilities are unlocked), then i'll try to hang with pugs to get the extra XP.
I have a lot of the mods I need, just not the requisite Endo to level them. From what I'm hearing I will just have to deal with it until endgame, or buy statues from other players in order to liquidate and get the Endo I need.

Ivara is very squishy. I don’t want to tell you how you should play the game but expecting her to soak damage is unrealistic.

I get by on level 80-100 missions on her with the only a single Vitality R8, and that’s because I spend most of my time bullet jumping, stealthed, or spamming Sleep arrows. She is a niche frame I use for stealth missions or ones where I want crowd control/stealth support. Occasionally her strength build is useful for Defense/Survival. If I’m expecting any significant damage I’ll be using Mesa, Nekros or Frost.
Definitely did not know you could Bullet Jump and remain in stealth while doing so. This changes everything.

My problem was I needed to unstealth to keep up with the group, and as a result, I wound end up getting picked off in transit - which made things even worse (and more embarrassing).

I usually throw on either Vitality, Quick Thinking or both and that’s usually enough.
As Ivara though I stay in stealth as much as possible, unless I’m just running through the level in which case I make full use of the damage reduction from parkour.
Quick Thinking sure is neat. I'm going to work on making some serious mod acquisitions tonight. I think I want to get most of the tradable Primed mods and some of the key ones I'm missing for melee.

Haly

One day I realized that sadness is just another word for not enough coffee.
I meant bullet jumping or stealthing, not both together but it is indeed possible to bullet jump without breaking stealth, it’s just very difficult to pull off rapidly in succession.

I've fallen into this game hard over the past week. Smashed my way up to MR 7 and am really enjoying my time with it.

Any chance of a clan invite? My in-game name is ShiftyAxel

New frame and weapons look sick... The Astilla especially seems really fun to me.

Still have tons of stuff I haven't tried in this game but I have to say... All of the recent content that's released since I started playing or just prior (Lenz, Arca weapons, Harrow, Sybaris Prime, etc) has been ace when compared to most of the old stuff... Seems like they've really hit their stride with weapon/frame design.

Is PoE gear gated at all, do we know? I'm a little worried about it sucking up all of the people from the star chart.

That's a good question. They have stated that they want it accessible to newer players, but how early I don't think they have said.
