Funny conclusions people jumped to while game info was scarce

Here's two very recent ones:

"Super Mario Switch is a 3D runner."
"They haven't shown towns yet which means Breath of the Wild will have no towns."

I have heard neither conclusion in regards to both games. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure someone said these things somewhere but they both never were a mainstream point of discussion.

*Palmer Luckey appearing as guest on HTC Vive panel in Tokyo Game Show*

"Palmer Luckey is going to announce he is buying HTC"

Golf Story doesn't have a release date yet, which is very strange for an indie game. Am I the only one suspecting this is actually a hoax game?

The "Zelda has no towns" thing got so prominent Nintendo reps had to officially address it at E3.

Is the recent Assassin's Creed Origins loot box panic an example of this? People thought it would have paid loot boxes but last I saw it seemed to be ingame boxes like Horizon? Or at least info was unclear and people jumped to conclusions?

There was also that one article that claimed Lords of Shadow 2 had a rape scene before the game came out and for a while people were very upset with the game, but turned out that there was no such scene and the article was exaggerating a vampire bite. http://m.neogaf.com/showthread.php?t=771761

Nintendo had many of these this year. "Switch is DOA", "Arms will have only 4 fighters", "Splatoon 2 is a port", "Xenoblade 2 will be delayed", "Bethesda won't support the system after Skyrim"

"Switch wil get all the japanese support"

It has the system in place for it to be patched in later when the reviews have been cleared, I wouldn't say it was an unfair assumption just yet.

Final Fantasy XV isn't showing fantasy areas because they're avoiding spoilers! There will be plenty of fantastical areas to explore alongside realistic areas like Duscae and Leide.

Yeah, I don't generally venture into Nintendo topics so maybe that's why, but I've heard neither of the points raised in the OP about those two games. Whoever seriously speculated that Mario Odyssey would be an endless runner was a fucking moron.

Monster Hunter World is a dumbed down spinoff for the west!

Yep, not embarrassed to admit it that I fell for it! One crow I was glad to dig in to though, put a napkin down my shirt for it and everything.

They could have picked a better reveal tbh...

The Monster Hunter World one is the funniest. People were tripping over themselves to decry casuals ruining their franchise over literally nothing.

Also it's not that funny but I remember back when the first FF9 trailers were out, discussions on GameFAQs thinking this said "Tifa" because of the font and was linked to FF7 somehow.

Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon are the largest and most elaborate third renditions Pokemon has ever had, Just watch those trailers that Serebii posted..

They still are to me.

The death of MHXX in the West and MHW not being on Switch helped this along too. Nintendo-stans ran this narrative into the ground.

Are you really saying USUM has no new content while mocking people that said MHW had some aspects dumbed down for the west?

It was a day before the January presentation IIRC, someone just came out of nowhere and brought that up as "wouldn't it just be Nintendo being Nintendo if this was a 3D endless runner" and yes it was incredibly stupid and off base.

The tech demo thing was *far* more widespread. People comparing it to the so-obvious-it-doesn't-need-explaining tech demo Zelda trailer shown for the Wii U, going so far as to accuse Nintendo of lying (seriously that's become so common over the last year) for showing a seemingly transparent vaperware 'game' on the unveiling of their new system. It was kinda nuts for a bit, you were seen as the silly one if you believed that was representative of a real game, people going so far as to say what we saw in the trailer would never be seen again and they were 100% certain of that fact.

That would be my pick, just before the game's launch with it looking amazing and all.

Whole situation was dumb, people were believing those 4chan rumors/leaks and with it not coming to Switch or having XX not be localized added to that.

Shit you still have one notable user that goes out of their way to constantly shit on the game in any thread about it.
