October Wrasslin' |OT| I'm seein' double here...

Here's the issue with "every wrestler is realizing there's money outside WWE". There's not infinite money. Guys like Cody, Omega, and The Young Bucks have set a precedent, sure, but not only is it hard to follow, it's unsustainable if everyone tries to leave and chase it. The more guys that leave with the idea of "I can make money elsewhere", the less money there is to make. There are only so many spots on hot indie cards after all.

And I'm sure the wrestlers realize this, which is why you haven't really seen people leaving with any sort of regularity.

I can't wait for the Bucks to put out a shirt with a horribly rendered black and white reproduction of the Jimmy Jacobs photograph and then underneath that the legend "Jimmy Jacobs got fired from WWE."

The internet wrestling community will collectively bust a nut and will bust a further nut when they release the "PAC quit WWE because he didn't like the booking" shirt.

Jimmy Jacobs already did that himself twelve hours ago.

I think Cody is an outlier here because of his family's history and his career in WWE. He also immediately got in with Bullet Club. If Lars Sullivan drops out of NXT he aint going to see the same level of interest, not even close.

A guy like Neville can command the payday and treatment, no doubt he's proven he deserves it. But if AJ, Sami, Gallagher, Rusev all left at the same time after Neville there is't going to be infinite money to court them in.

Yeah, Ryback's wallet isn't really lighting up the charts compared to the Yang Backs.

I agree. But if you're a proven top worker and fan favorite like Neville, you're definitely more able to do it and it's not as big of a risk.
Yeah, Ryback's wallet isn't really lighting up the charts compared to the Yang Backs.
Because it's Ryback.

Ryback was also charging like 4000 bucks an appearance with only a discount if you were a well known independent place IIRC so no wonder nobody is forking out cash for him.

There's money to be made, but there's a limit for sure - but I think the biggest thing that puts off those who are dissatisfied is that it's hard fuckin work. People shit on the Bucks as performers, but they put in a ton of graft inside and outside of the ring to make the business work for them. A guy like Drew made such big splash because he was willing to work for less than you'd expect of a former WWE superstar, he was willing to keep an insane international schedule to get his name out there and he was willing to adapt his style to suit most, if not all of the indie environments he found himself in. Not everyone's going to put the work in, and guys like Curt Hawkins found out that it's a lot harder than just showing up in PWG.

One source claimed a souring point was being left off of the Wrestlemania 33 DVD, which meant no royalties from what is traditionally the biggest selling WWE DVD of the year.

In case anyone still thinks a "billion" "dollar" "company" can't be cheap

Yeah, that's my whole point. Plenty of folks walk away and ain't shit. Ryback at least has his body going for him, but...yeah.

Yes. Cody is working far more than he was in WWE, not just matches, but he's taking a crazy amount of bookings and busting his ass to make money. Way more ass bustin' than WWE.
