I have red hair, I can say ginger. You can't.

That'd be one thing, if said post wasn't an attempt at disruption of a topic that clearly went into jolly fun instead of its antagonistic origin, by going for the *shock factor*. More so, the humor is multi-layered (if anyone spotted it) and self-conscious, so hardly /pol/ material and hardly disrespectful.
I mean i kinda think its NSFW maybe spoiler tags. Its hard to say intent there.

I just wouldn't have acknowledged the bait. Granted, I think the use of Emmet Till and a lynching photo as bait is disrespectful in and of itself, but responding to it in a mocking way just brings you down to that same level.

Just ignore it. No reason to sink to their level.

I can see that perspective, but considering it killed the fun, I felt it was better to turn it against them in a more jolly manner. It's not mocking the subjects from my perspective, as the character Eric Stoltz is playing is based on someone with an extreme physical disfigurement due to a rare disorder. It plays on the obvious physical disfiguration in both people, while playing on the typical american pop culture example of prejudice "are you all related". One can acknowledge surface level fun that plays on the aspect of someone, while sympathizing with someone and understanding the unfortunate context. It goes both ways in the joke, with both examples being unfortunate things.
Just like the lynching picture was used view it in the context of the thread, in which it itself would be an extremely dark humor attempt, and ridiculing the edginess from both potential contexts, either as a grimdark humor attempt or as a disruptive statement ("don't joke about things that have with black people and language"). I agree on it being used disrespectfully, regardless of whether it was a joke or some serious disruption, as if it was some shock factor, then it just plays into the use of lynching as a scare tactic and a message to black people and their supporters.
Also, I'm explaining the joke for some reason. I could see how perhaps the more wise action would to just report it, but I guess it's the reactionary in me that got ahold of me.

I'm a ginger and I vote no. We are wild cards, untrustworthy and such.

When you think of red, what animal do you think of then? Foxes? Would you trust a fox in a henhouse? Would you trust a ginger with the right to vote? What's next? Women voting? Do you trust someone that bleeds for up to seven days each month without dying?

I cant even keep up with you... :D (in a good way) im too drunk and its only Tuesday.
When I think red I honestly think the color 'red' and that looks nothing like my hair. So it makes me confused as to why its even called red hair. I don't know maybe you're red is my blue and I'm just even that much more fucked up.

See. Do we want these people to vote? They'd be flipping California and DC red, Texas and Alabama blue, turning over entire presidential elections. The US flag would never look the same. The red coats would be welcomed in a drunken stupor.

What about ginja?

This is like five kinds of cultural appropriation.

It's only fair. Why stop there? How about GET, Ginger Entertainment Television, and Red History Month, honoring famous red heads throughout history who overcame adversity, despite the hardship of having strawberry colored hair and freckles.

Red head should have never taken hold in the first place when ginger is much more accurate. Nobody actually has natural red hair. In fact 'ginger' is the normal and correct word here in the UK. They didn't name Geri Halliwell 'Red Headed Spice' for a reason. Nor is there a red headed tom cat.

It's just another bastardisation of the English language by our silly American friends!

Why did Scary Spice have to be the black one? 🤔

Is this gingersplaining?

Mel B was always the hottest Spice Girl anyway by a mile IMO. But in later years she also owned some of that Ginger Spice pazazz

I am going to work now and may not reply until this evening but you all are aware of how racist this thread makes you all look right? The premise of the topic was very good, but then you all diverted to making ginga(Ninja/nigga) jokes, one drop rule jokesvoter suppression and even a lynching joke. Seriously not a good look.

You do realize that premise was not good (see my first posts) and we're all now making self-aware jokes? If you can joke about the absurdity of race (a complete societal construction) at times, then there's not a lot of thing we can joke about that wouldn't have a problematic element, if not considering context and intent (like the fact that it is mockery of past prejudices). You can trust me, I have many ginga red hair friends, this is definitely not racist.

Ginga is the Australian slang for redheaded people. The ninja pun writes itself, and you can find a ton of memes about Ron Howard-esque ninjas.

The "one-strand rule" was poking at something in another topic where someone argued that the disproportionate number of black murderers is due to modern continuance of the "one-drop rule" (i.e. he believed that murderers who are actually white are being labeled as black to make white people look better than black people) rather than accepting the well-known socio-economic reasons for it (black communities tend to be poorer due to a variety of policies, and poverty tends to lead to increased crime rates).

Ginger is used as an insult to people with red hair.

It is unacceptable that people with non red hair call people with red hair Gingers.

I have red hair so it's ok if I use the word.

Thoughts?

First I have to say that I really had absolutely no idea the word "Ginger" was offensive when used to describe someone with red hair. So I had to actually look this up to even get context of understanding of the issue.

Google search on the issue:
https://www.irishtimes.com/life-and...g-redheads-gingers-an-insult-or-not-1.2296016

Anyway, I see no inherent need to call you are anyone a "Ginger".

If you say you don't like it or find the term offensive in reference to red-heads I don't have any burning need to run around saying "Ginger, please" or "Ginger, that" even if you let other people call you that.
It's just basic human respect.

And I would say anyone who making a stink about not being able to call you a "Ginger" is part fragile outrage and entitlement culture. They need to be asking themselves why its so important for them to be able to call you a "ginger" in the first place.

Really, it feels like you've missed the whole transformation of the thread into joking about gingers and some mostly light racial humor. Get on the program.

Q: What places did the ginger lad visit when he came to South-Korea?
A:
I don't know, but at least no Seoul.

Has there been some kind of recent systematic discrimination of red heads I should know about to warrant such a request?

Clearly this topic went right over your non red head. Just curious, what other posts have I made that are "consistently terrible"?

Indeed. He simply can't compete with your superior intellect and robust arguments. Watch him and the rest of the naysayers moan about irrelevant matters like slavery and exploitation.

You are the only one saying those things in this thread my dude. I'm just pointing out facts of my life. Keep moaning though, it suits you.

At least you didn't call me a ginger.

I can't argue with your robust double post. It's so nice you said it twice my dude.

Be honest, you got mad because I crapped on your heavily right wing posts and you got your feelings hurt. Don't be upset because I opposed your crappy arguments.

Please stop putting the word 'ginger' in your lyrics, OP. You know half your audience isn't allowed to say it.
