An Uncharted movie starring Tom Holland (Drake) and Bryan Cranston (Sully)

Cranston? I like him but come on. No. At least it is just rumored and not confirmed.

Holland as Drake is also complete misfire of course, nobody cares about seeing young Drake.

IMDB as a source in 2018.

Levy has directed episodes three and four of each of the first three seasons of “Stranger Things” and teased where the upcoming season might be headed during an interview late last month. He also provided an update on when his next big-screen effort, the adaptation of the popular video game “Uncharted” with Tom Holland on board to star, might begin production.

Druckmann retired Drake (aka real Nolan North Drake), i.e. a decision no fan asked for, then Hollywood steps in & rehires Drake in a movie I do not believe many fans asked for either. The ultimate irony? Uncharted was already a cinematic experience & the video game platform served it best. I mean what is Hollywood going to do? Re-enact the timeline of the Uncharted games?

How tedious. I want the video game back (Uncharted 5), not a movie.

As much as I dislike using one liners as a reply... but, "this!"

I can get behind Cranston as Sully, that would be fun to watch, but Holland? No thank you, the segments with young Drake are by far the most boring parts of the games. With that said, a movie based on Uncharted must be the most unnecessary thing ever, as the games themselves are already inspired and structured around the foundations of cinema. The result will likely be another bland and unforgettable film adaption, and put to rest in the cemetery with the rest of the bunch; Tomb Raider, Assassins Creed, Resident Evil, Silent Hill, Doom, after a couple of slow weeks at the box office.

It would be hilarious if that movie got a game release: "Uncharted: The Movie: The Game", voiced by Nolan North.

What? No, why?
Does anyone even care about young drake? The uncharted games have generic treasure hunter plots, the one reason people would go to the movies is to see the characters and scenarios from the games in movie format and they want to take that away? If it's the adventures of a teen and an older guy it's not even uncharted anymore.

This has nothing to do with using IMDB as a source. Buzz about Uncharted and Holland's involvement came from reliable sources however IMDB can be updated by anyone with an account.

I always seen Bruce Campbell as perfect for Sully. I can't figure out how to post the photo currently

If not Nathan Fillion, perhaps Chris Pratt could make a good Nathan Drake imo.

Also, Tom Hanks could make a good Sully.

Wow, never occured to me before but even Bruce Campbell could be in contention for Sully's role.

PS: I shall miss Ash vs Evil Dead.

I'm not even a fan of the game and I know that Nathan Fillion is a better fit. If you are someone who cares about this story you need to protest this hard on social media. Stop them now, don't let them Last Jedi your shit.

Why do we need an Uncharted movie when the games are already movies?

And why do people still pretend that video game movies won't suck? Is it just sad, wishful thinking at this point?

The directors, writers and producers do not give two shits about people whining on social media about a movie announcement. Why? Because they know better than you. This is like a rocket scientist going to the internet for advice on how to build a rocket. Just because some internet dork made some half-assed movie with Fillion does not mean a multi-million-dollar movie has to follow suite.

Not to mention that people ALWAYS complain on social media about basically EVERY movie announcement, especially ones concerning dorky stuff like games and Star Wars. Someone complaining on social media would barely even be noticed since it's all the "boy who cried wolf" at this point.

Please don't encourage more whining on social media by casting an illusion that it works.

If The Last Jedi has taught us anything it's that movie people don't know more than the fans. :goog_cool:

What does this even mean? The Last Jedi was the best SW movie since RotJ. That's not saying much, but it was the first movie that tried to escape the massive shadow that the originals casted over everything. I'm quite unhappy that JJ Abrams is in charge of the 3rd one since I'm convinced he's just going to copy ROTJ and ruin the good stuff that Rian Johnson did.

Real movie critics praised it almost universally and SW dorks whined about it and all it "taught" me was that SW dorks are insane and will never like any movie that any comes out because it doesn't reference all the stupid EU events they want, address some obscure backstory of a character no one cares about, or have cameos for all the awful fanservice they want. Screw Star Wars fans. I like the movies but they're the worst fanbase ever and they'll never ever be happy. Wouldn't even know good art if it slapped them in the face. If SW dorks made movies, they'd be the worst things we've ever seen.

Tough crowd in here. Lol.

Personally, I think the choice to do a young Drake story is a wise one. It gives the writers/directors the right kind of distance from the source material to tell an interesting story in another medium. Had they just made a straight-up adaptation of Uncharted, the focus would have been on how faithful it was, but by giving us a young Drake, they avoid direct comparisons and free themselves up to tell a story we've never seen before. As a bonus, Tom Holland doesn't have to be Drake from the games, only a character that might one day grow into that character.

In any event, it will be a far better and more faithful (which for fans is usually the same thing) adaptation than that David O. Russell thing starring Marky Mark would have been, as much as I liked The Fighter. I say we give it a chance.

Real movie critics praised it almost universally and SW dorks whined about it and I'm convinced that SW dorks will never like any movie that any comes out because it doesn't reference all the stupid EU events they want or have cameos for all the awful fanservice they want.

We're getting off topic, but I'm a far cry from the mental image of a "SW dork" you're lambasting, and I thought it was terrible just as a narrative work, clearly written to shock and surprise rather than tell a story. Characters make nonsensical choices and the plot meanders and loops pointlessly (which is odd in a movie that is essentially an extended chase sequence) all for the sake of setting up expectations that can later be subverted for dramatic effect. It's gotcha writing, and sloppy gotcha writing at that. A far cry from "good art."

In any case, it's not just overly passionate hardcore fans who left theaters unimpressed, so your points about "real critics" and "good art" actually reinforce his argument that there is a disconnect between what some segments of Hollywood think people want, and what actually works for audiences. No need to get mad about it.

Kids grow up fast these days, so by the time the green light is lit for this project Tom Holland will have two Spider-Man movies (action based) under his belt. I don’t see the problem.

This is my problem with the entire concept of games turning in to movies. There are like no video games which could work as movies where said game isn't very (some might say overly) cinematic already. Turning certain other games in to cartoons on the other hand I can support.

I think games could work as movies. They just require dismantling all expectations and going in fresh, using the game's world and characters as a starting point for a project that sort of relates but acts completely as its own thing. Of course in reality that never ever ever happens.

Sony Pictures needs to get their head out of their ass. At this point, I'm sure the issues isn't Sony's gaming division but their Movie studios not taking gaming seriously.

Nathan Fillion is to Nathan Drake as Ryan Reynolds is to Deadpool. Everyone felt this way very very early on in Uncharted's franchise career.
Sony Pictures not getting it reminds me of early PS3 marketing, where Sony Music had a Console promotion for an album and the prize was an Xbox 360. LMFAO. That's how easily Sony Pictures could screw this up.

Bryan Cranston as Sully could easily work. He could recreate that character possibly. It's easier to get anyone really as Sully. It does not have to be an older person, it could be an younger person that can play the character but in older makeup. Think Tom Cruise in Tropic Thunder or Matt Damon in Deadpool 2. JK Simmons also is a good choice.

Tom Holland as Young Drake? It could work. Primarily because he can pass for a young Nathan Fillion, so it works on screen. I liked him as Spiderman, or better yet as a young Peter Parker. He seems like a good person off screen but I really don't know any of his other work. If they only list a young Drake, this could mean no adult Drake in the first film if they are going for trilogy/franchise.

My biggest concern though, is good writing. Good villains and henchmen. The Short Film with Nathan nailed the lead boss and the henchmen/extras were plentiful and had character.

Nathan fillion deserves this, just look at the fan made version...

I could accept bryan Cranston as sully.. even tom Holland as maybe a "young" drake in a flash back or something, as long as Nathan is involved :pie_winking:

I haven't played any Uncharted games but I planning to play them soon. I have the collection on PS4. This movie doesn't sound very interesting. Most people know the adult Drake so they should use him.

Holy crap! Nathan Fillion and Bruce Campbell in the same project would be an instant nerdgasm

It would be fantastic, and I still stand by what I said in the fan film thread, that Uncharted would work out better as a campy TV series rather than a feature film.
