Sony censorship policy strikes again: This time the TITLE OF A GAME is being censored, as well as other common wording.

Do you think Sony editing GAME TITLES in any situation is taking censorship to0 far?

Wow. The censoring by Sony is going way too far and is just ridiculous but im not going to sell of my PS4 Pro and stop buying/playing exclusives and games in general on PS4 Pro just because they're censoring some games as that would be equally ridiculous if not more so.

He could sell it on any other platform.

Beyond me how sony doesn't just straight up remove the game entirely.

1) School girls probably underaged
2) practically naked
3) Schooting schools up.

Then worry's about his western support.

Not sure if this guy is trolling or simply a idiot.

I have. I quit buying stuff on ps4 back when this first started. Although thats also due to me going mostly pc and switch now, this just reaffirms my decision. Fuck this shit.

Did nobody play PSO on the Dreamcast back in the day? Censorship like this is common because it’s automated.

I couldn’t say Coolies in PSO. Had to look it up to find out it was considered derogatory.

Yea, this just drives home the idea that Sony can't be trusted with the PS5. I have been buying the vast majority of my games on Switch and Xbox One and I don't see that changing any time soon. This is just disgusting.

Well since Im a normal person I would never buy a game with "School girl" in his title. so I dont care.

But I understand why some people is worried.

What the hell does being normal have to do with anything? What constitutes as "normal" in this situation.

Hell if you look at the popularity of "school girl" porn on the net one could make the judgement that you're the abnormal one for not being interested in that subject matter.

I'm a gamer first and foremost so me giving up a Days Gone, Ghost of Tsushima, TLOUP2, Nioh 2, Granblue Fantasy, Judgment, Lost Soul Aside and other exclusives just isn't going to happen. Also, while the censoring is stupid and just a waste of time from Sony to do so, none of it has affected the games I care about which obviously plays a role into whether I actually care or not.

I own a Switch as well as an Xbox One X but PS4/PS4 Pro has been my primary console for this generation and it isn't going to change. Worse case scenario for me is they censor Cyberpunk 2077 for example and I would just purchase it for Xbox One even though I don't believe that it will be censored.

It's weird how a japanese company (Sony) is acting more American than an American company (Xbox) when it comes to censorship.

I remember Sony only releasing censored games for the whole PAL region because they didn't wanted to release a censored version only for the countries that has those censorship rules (German and Australia) during the PS3 era. The same thing is happening with the PS4. The pal version of DMC5 is still censored.

"For the players."
didn't they censor ninja guiden

Hah. This is a whole new level of crazy from this company. This seems like this would be a bug but given the recent wave of censorship this seems like it was done on purpose.

How is the average person even going to know what game he played if they can't even see the game title??? Zombie Hunter is an extremely generic term with many results, so now Sony is not only blocking users from seeing the title of the game software, but there are people that will NEVER know what the game is leading to declined sales for the developer and publisher!!!!!!!!!!

Given that this is some hella niche title to begin with, I doubt the average consumer even knew this game even existed and probably don't care that it does. The part about "declined sales" is a little too reaching here IMO.

Where can I find this post anyways? If this is that social thing on PS4, don't you have to be friends with the poster to see this stuff? Looking at other people's automated achievement posts isn't something I usually seek out when I get on my PS4.

But what do I know? I'm just some average consumer.

The thing I'm more worried about with these rampant anti-Sony threads is the image that it puts out to the average consumer (if they, for some reason, stumble into GAF). It might make them think "oh is this how all gamers see Sony?" Which I think is completely not representative of the community. The prevalence of these posts, is definitely giving the wrong impression, if not misleading others about the gaming community's views. Sure censorship is hampering on the DEVs' creative expression, but I highly doubt that a couple of blocked words or butts it is anti-consumer. If they actually prevented people from playing these games, THAT would be anti-consumer.

Just my two cents. 100% opinion.

Again.

A boicot in the last of us part II, Should be work.

sure Sony must be worried that fans of a niche japanese game with animated seminude children which will probably sell no more than 10.000 copies are boicoiting a game that will sell 15 million copies.

lol

Sony’s censorship machine keeps churning. No 3rd party game is safe!

But seriously ... this is beginning to be a bit much, Sony. Could you please take it down a notch or two?

Not for that only for that.

-Lack of a good technical support service
-For charge the same cost and remove games in PS Plus to only 2 games.
-Not tolerating the crossplay.
-the lack of compatibility of playstation 2 games even when is possible,
-discontinuing the servers of games in a short time.
-Censuring for no reason the Japanese games and American games do not censor.
-Let Die PS Vita.
- Not listen to petition of the fans.

Not allowing an optional service like EA Access. Even going so far as publicly downplaying it saying it offers gamers garbage value even at a cheap $5/month or $30/year. And then promoting PS Now like it's better value at $20/month or $45/quarter ($180/year).

Oh,voost again.c'mon man.

Care to discuss the topic, or is drive by posting just your shtick?

Surprised the Sony defense force hasn't shown up ready for deflection.

Sony is going down what I feel is the wrong path with their censorship policies. Hopefully their fanbase will hold them accountable and demand change.

I haven’t been on GAF or played video games for a while now and I came back to this... What is happening with this apparent Sony anticonsumer stuff? Any threads where I can get an overview or something?

I wonder if Sony is just trying to appease Daniel Loeb by spreading their cheeks on hot topic issues rather than ceding actual power.

Here we go again with another fucking Sony anti-consumer thread. Go seek help or find you something better to do in your life ffs

I'd say people defending a brand like this post is the true one who should seek help.

On topic, this is what happens if someone gets too dominant. Glad I left consoles all together now and just play on pc now instead.

From what I can see what you wrote was an oversimplification. It seems they are censoring things which other companies are not doing and often even when guidelines are being met. Well what I got was from a skim read anyway and probably missed a lot of stuff. That thread link above has most of the info.

I see.still it isn't a big deal.

It really depends on the perspective I guess. To some, as long as it does not affect them, they really don’t care. To others, the games they play are getting snipped. There’s also bound to be people who just don’t like this practice as a whole.

Lol I'm not even defending. Don’t know where you assumed that I am defending

He isn’t. Any censorship is bollocks but you go and see his threads history and you’ll understand

To be honest there possible using some sort of AI system and it's not working probably. Anyone remember BFV censoring White Man and a few other common words.

The media went crazy. It was all talk about the censorship and little to no talk about it possibly being a bug.
Maybe this?

WTF i read for? MORAL HIGH STANDARD for fiction entertaiment product? Am I dreaming? Is Sony China's gov owned company now?
Not to that extent but Sony needs to drop their bollocks because definitely they’re not #4ThePlayers

This is stupid but I wonder if this some kind of word filtering system malfunction - they might be try to prevent someone talking about school shootings and high is often used as description for taking drugs.

It sucks for the people that play those games, such as myself, and also there is the worry that this is just the start and things will get more strict.

None of this will ever change, as long as these so called "journalists" don't shine a spotlight on them and start asking the tough questions.

Unfortunately they are extension PR pieces for all game companies, and those that actually do investigative journalism (Schreier, etc.), seem to love this form of censorship.

So I challenge you Jason Scheier, etc., do work.

As long as Metacritics and GOTY awards still be the center of universe about how to judge for the quality of the games. Nothing will change.
