Should I get a PS4 or XBox 1?

PS4 has the best exclusives and a lot of them. You can't really go wrong there.

However gamepass for Xbox (or xbox and PC) is legitimately one of the best deals in gaming right now and it will tide you over until the new consoles launch next year.

Go with the one that has the exclusive franchises you enjoy the most. Now, on a more biased opinion, i would just say to go with PS4, the quality of the exclusives are much better and you also have more choices when it comes to japanese games.

PS4 Slim if you like Sony exclusives.

Pro not worth it when PS5 releasing next year.

If you interested in Xbox I would suggest getting Xbox one X as it's much better and improved system over base Xbox one and S. It improves graphics significantly compared to base Xbox one and even Pro in some games plus Game pass offers 200+ games and all Xbox console exclusives at very cheap price.

Depend what games you want to play and if you have a PC that can play them...

The chances to you want a PS4 is higher than Xbox 1 btw.

Do you have a decent PC?

If Yes get a Ps4

If No then look at the exclusive lineup and features of both systems and go with the one you like better

Ask me about my Stream Deck
If you decide on the PS4, just know they get really loud when the fan kicks up. If noise is a concern, make sure to consider that.

At least choose between the enhanced versions. :lollipop_confounded:
It's a simple choice of actual system at the moment.... If you want to say why I should really get the 1 X or PS4 pro, feel free to do so as well :p
If No then look at the exclusive lineup and features of both systems and go with the one you like better
But almost all the PS4 exclusives seem to come to XB1 after awhile, anyway.... :p I'm sure there'd be plenty of games available for it to keep me goingby now :D

Sony PS4 Pro will give you a better first party exclusives. Xbox One X is the best console to play 3rd party games on.

I'd say going with a Pro, it has better exclusives and although 3rd party games won't look quite as good as the X versions, they will still look great.

PS4 is the better machine, with better exclusives and has VR if you want to dabble.

But...

Xbox one x has an elite pad and gamepass.

IMO buy an xbox one X now and a PS5 at launch. Best of both worlds.

Xbox One X is my current fave (I have all the consoles). It’s the most powerful and has backward compatibility.

If you have to choose between an original PS4 and original Xbox one then the PS4 was better in my experience.

PS4 has VR, Xbox has gamepass. PS4 has remote play on vita, Xbox has xcloud on mobile devices starting November.

I’d say look up the exclusives list to be sure. The PS4 controller feels better but the Xbox controller has replaceable batteries and is very responsive.

OK, you tell me which ones haven't & won't...? Games I'm interested in are all on both, as far as I know :p
Such as...? :D
All of them.

Microsofts first party output has been very weak this gen. One gears, one halo, sunset wasn't great, crackdown was a complete wet fart. Forza is the only mainstay exclusive franchise that keeps knocking it out of the park.

Meanwhile, Sony had Uncharted 4, HZD, God of War, Spiderman, Bloodborne, The order 1886, Infamous, i'm probably missing a few.

Yeah, you could argue subjectivity and all that jazz but it's pretty hard to argue that Microsoft have been weak this gen, even comparing Microsoft to Microsoft and taking Sony out of it, they've done a piss poor job on exclusives.

PS4 has actual exclusive and better games in my opinion. If you have a decent PC then there's no reason for a X1 especially with the gamepass. Simple as that.

I'd probably be thinking of a 1 S or PS4 slim, actually.... Sony has literally a couple of actual exclusives I'd like :D While there's 2 or 3 on XB1 I'm interested in :p Games I'm most concerned about are on both, as I've said :D

If you are fan of Japanese games then PS4 and Switch combo is ideal.
I'm not just a fan of jrpgs, though... Almost all of those have come to Switch, too :p Which are you talking about that are still staying exclusively on PS4 forever? :D

Seriously, aways go for the games you like.

Go watch on the youtube games and see the ones you like.

And based on them, choose your console.

If it ends find games that appears in both consoles, goes for PS4 since I guess you're talking about the base ones.

Wait a year a get a PS5 or Xbox Two, then you can play current gen and next gen exclusives. Really makes no sense to buy a PS4 or XB1 at this point in time.
Well, it'd probably be next year, in sales, when I can get either for £150-200 :p Then, I can wait until the PS5 & Scarlet are down to reasonable prices, rather than buying either at launch :D

Well if you are not fan of JRPG like Persona 5 then choose base on which system has western game exclusives you might enjoy.

If you have no other factor, get a PS4, it has many notable exclusives, "real" exclusives mind you.

Especially if you plan on going to a base console, the XbOne makes no sense at the moment as it seems a good number of devs pretty much ignore it and release games that barely work on it (along the lower visual fidelity).

If you are looking for a "Pro" or "X" console - well the X is slightly better, especially if you have a 4K TV - however, it won't get you far if you intend on playing any of Sony's top tier exclusives, and if you game on a 1080p TV you'll be hard pressed to tell the difference (even on a 4K TV it's hard to tell at normal playing distance add to this that not all games run more smoothly on the xbox one X - even as a PlayStation player I can see that it can be a conundrum for some people. Personally I'm glad I have the PS4 Pro because Sony's games are pretty much it in therms of gaming for me.

If you look at the used market you'll see that the xbox consoles are going at much lower prices than their PlayStation counterparts - locally there is about a 75$ difference - I'm pretty sure you can deduct the general satisfaction of owners of consoles on both sites (there are less people selling their used PS4 than there are people looking for them, keeping the price relatively high - the opposite is true for the xbox one).

What? Not really.
There have been some third party games like Nier Automata which also launched on PC and eventually got to Xbox.
But for the most part most high profile Ps4 exclusives have remained exclusive with no signs of that changing:
Bloodborne ,God of War ,Spiderman ,Horizon ,Days Gone ,Uncharted 4, and the Lost Legacy , Gravity Rush 1 and 2 ,The last Guardian ,SotC remake , Until Dawn, TloU and Uncharted remaster (I guess they are more relevant if you didn't own a Ps3), etc

And there's still a bunch of third party japanese games, some of which are slowly coming to PC, which as of yet have no indication of an Xbox release:
Yakuza Wikami 1 and 2 , Yakuza 0 and 6 (and remastered 3,4 and 5 though so far only in Japan), Judgement ,Fist of The North Star; Lost paradise ,Nioh ,Persona 5 , Dragon Quest XI (soon on Switch too)

I cry about SonyGaf from my chair in Redmond, WA
Asking on a Sony forum which console to buy 👌

To be honest buy which one that appeals you more. They both have their advantages as well as disadvantages.

It’s the end of the gen and you’re just buying something? I would suggest you do research on each and pick what fits your needs.

I am a fan of jrpgs, generally but not Persona, after trying several on Vita.... :p All of them I'd want are on XB1 as well by now, I know
Having played Baldur's Gate, etc, on my phone, I won't get those at launch on console but they'd be on all for sales :D
Dragon Quest XI (soon on Switch too)
Lols, it's the definitive edition for Switch & that's where I'll get that.... :p

Xbox 1 X and game pass. Had Xbox 1 X since day one and not even looking to upgrade anytime soon because it’s that good.
