Looks like a very fit women to me. If you really want to see a woman on steroids, check out Brooke ence. She says she doesn't take steroids, but... Look at her. A guy couldn't have that body without steroids, let alone a woman. Hell, 90% of guys on steroids dont have that tank of a body

There are women that seem manly, though I would say the amount is limited and they usually seem rather manly in their teens as well.
Now in regards to Ellie. I wouldn't say she's looking really manly honestly, sure, she's got some muscle, but it's nowhere near unreasonable amounts for a woman doing a lot of physical labor. Meaning it's not odd. More so, she's a tomboy, living in a post-apocalyptic society out in the woods, meaning that her dressing as she does makes sense as well. I don't really see the complaint here, at least not yet.

There are hundreds of different cordyceps fungi, and what's really fascinating is that they each target only a particular species. Of insects, so they don't (yet!) take over lifeforms with high cognitive abilities. But they're able to direct the behavior of the insects for the short while they remain alive while infected. Usually they make an ant or such climb to a high position, then bite firmly into a leaf to hold it in place. Then a fungus will grow out of the insect, spreading a ton of spores onto unsuspecting victims below. It's quite metal really.

2 different type of enemies to fight.I’m trying to allow for the possibility of being physically pushed to survive every day in a world like that, that it might actually be a good thing that she looks like she can play the part she’s going to.
There’s a complaint about 90 pound girls throwing men around unrealistically, so it’s somewhat interesting to see this addressed.
But, it just makes me feel uncomfortable. There’s weird gender stuff going on in pop culture in general right now, courtesy of the usual suspects, and this just seems a further extension of that.
This is a more what I’d expect from a heroine in peak condition, forced to survive. Not turning into a hulking man.
sarah fight against something where muscles are useless, only gun works.
ellie fights against humans and infected with melee weapon half of the time, she needs some power in his muscles to do serious damage against big men and mutated creatures.

She should have severe orthopedic problems (malnourishment, diarrhea, diseases, no comfortable bed to sleep on, wounds and bruises from walking barefoot, climbing etc), plus rotten teeth.

Her muscle tone doesn't mean squat to me. Continuing the story from the first is all I really care about as long as the mechanics are similar or better. I'm actually really excited about PS+ next month too. Having long since traded in the disc, I'm looking forward to a refresher and maybe trying the multiplayer this time. Anyone know if people still play it?

workout alone can't lead to that kind of body, the diet is just as if not more important which in the dire setting seen in TLOU1 doesn't seem to be luxurious enough to sustain such. however the new trailer seem to show the characters living in a more developed area so who knows.

If she's willing to do patrols as we saw then she'd get the best stuff, that'd be how a real post-apocalyptic settlement would be handled, all the best for the people who are brave enough to venture beyond.
I agree, and also add that just surviving in that world would probably keep people more physically active than the modern human of today.

There's a middle ground between sexual object of desire and hulking mountain. The VAST majority of women fall somewhere between the two, if ND are going for realism why not have a realistic female body type?
Will say that Ellie looks perfectly fine in every other shot, has a totally normal body. It's actually strange how her shirtless body looks totally different to physique when he has clothes on. If anything clothes should make you look beefier, not less beefy.
She's like a third of Joel's size so she probably needs less calories to maintain that than Joel needs to sit on his butt

I mean, that stuff sells better when you're the one controlling her. Watching Angelina Jolie and Milla Jovovich do cartwheels in a movie there's a bigger disconnect, plus they have emphasized what a struggle the fighting will be in the trailers, meaning they aren't afraid to acknowledge the size difference.
