I expect a perfect storm for this game. I didn't expect Monster Hunter World to even hit 10 million yet it is CAPCOM's best-selling game of all time now. We're at the point of the gen where the audience already owns your machine, now they want the games. PS4 is around 100 million consoles. I think the sales will be impressive for a single-player title. God of War didn't do so bad.

I think people are giving it too much energy. I think it’s supposed to convey an emotional connection.

Is it a product of its current climate, sure, but that doesn’t always make it a bad thing. Not anymore than any other type of marketing and cultural climate between straight couples.

I still think their storytelling is less blatant and in your face and I am willing to give it the benefit of the doubt of context and nuance that they’re known for.

That could be one part. Another bunch of variables could be those who have the income just to get it done now, and have it preloaded around release (set it and forget it), or a more limited budget know they have the cash on hand now, so get it while they can budget it.
